Chapter 9: Where Yuri has a little surprise in botanic class
Yuri was meeting in the cafeteria with his friends, the alchemy class had been complicated, but Yuri was able to get the right amounts of the burn potion ingredients that the teacher had explained today. When lunch arrived everyone faced a problem, how would they eat? Working students' snacks were not provided by the school and the coffe shop/dinner only accepted contribution points. Some of his fellow alchemy veterans (students were not separated by years but by level of potential and so it was common to see young and old students studying together) had said that the school gave an incentive to all first year students and that in places like cofee shops, associations, libraries, study rooms there were machines that showed how many contribution points you had in your ID (student ID) to help you fund your points.
So everyone headed for the machine when they arrived at the cafeteria. Everyone had earned an average of 500 contribution points, seeing the menu they realized that the cheapest lunch cost 25 points while the cheapest snack cost 10. <Hmm maybe cooking worth more than buying ready food, when I have time I will see how much it costs to buy provisions.> thought yuri while choosing the cheapest lunch, everyone ate and decided to go report in the working student building. Arriving there a gentleman explained how the job selection worked and how many points each earned per job, then he took the quest to sweep the main patio for the group (which was worth 20 points for each) and finished up telling them to try hard not to bring embarrassment to the working students . They decided to clean up after classes.
Following the lessons, botany was wonderful for yuri as he had a strong connection with plants, he could feel its essence. During botany yuri had been grouped with two veterans and they had told him a little about some classes, and what he had heard about combat and PE had made him very apprehensive about those subjects. Combat was basically the class in which you learned various fighting styles, but the instructor was rigorous and his level 4-5 classes only had students he chose by hand. P.E. was a kind of survival-focused physical education, it wouldn't be so bad if his teacher didn't have extreme ways to train her students.
By the end of combat class Yuri could see that the rumors were correct, his teacher Hunter was not only rigorous but extremely punctual, at first he had put yuri to fight a veteran and after 1 minute yuri had been knocked out and had to be taken to the clinics. After a sympathetic doctor took care of his injuries and gave him a pain medicine, he reunited with his friends and with his still-sore body helped finish the task of sweeping the patio.
So the rest of the week passed, the other classes had been challenging, PE proved to be a nightmare because the teacher had a habit of electrocuting students with a shock machine when they complained about the activity. After the first combat class Hunter had left yuri as an observer of the fighting among the students in the class (at least he was not injured). In power control the teacher helped students who already knew their power through activities that exercised their control and those who did not know what it was to read some books on power discoveries. Yuri took great advantage of this class to find out if what had happened to him at school had been a demonstration of his power and if it was what it was.
The week passed quickly, when yuri found himself already Gwener(friday) and he was planning to go shopping for some groceries the next day. Arriving in botany class however he got a little surprise. He arrived early as usual and sat on his workbench while he finished making his notes of the kind he had flown in Wednesday class. Feeling the changes of the plant in front of him depending on how much water / light / manna was placed he was completely immersed in his notes when a voice next to him disturbed his thought and made his heart stop for a moment.
"What are you doing?" asked Victor. When he arrived in the room he had been overjoyed to see that yuri was having the same subject as him, due to some problems in his research he could not attend the other classes. Smiling and approaching to greet yuri, he realized that yuri was fully focused on what he was doing. He sat next to him, but Yuri gave no sign of seeing him yet, so after observing Yuri taking notes as he took the most care in the world with the plant in front of him (which made Victor melt a little for him, after all he had a very strong connection with plants and saw that yuri was really struggling with the one in front of him) for now he decided to get yuri's attention.
" I'm making notes about the best amount of nutrients this plant needs" said yuri as he looked at Victor and blushed a little because Victor was looking at him with a little uncomfortable intensity.
"Oh," said victor, "is this for some activity of teacher marmaduk?"
"Yes" said yuri "In the last class she made us fetch some seedlings of a kind of plant that she obtained and asked us to make them bloom." Yuri continued talking normally with his heart beating very fast.
"Hmm" Victor thought for a moment "could I pair with you for this task? I had to miss my last classes due to problems and I'm a little late."
"Yes" said yuri softly "no problem. If you want to see what I wrote down about past classes." Said showing the notebook to Victor.
"There is no problem?" when yuri shook his head Victor opened the most beautiful smile yuri had ever seen him give "Thank yuriii" Victor said beaming taking the notebook.
While Victor's attention was focused in the notebook Yuri was having a small nerve attack. <I can't believe Victor is in my botany class, not only that but he also sat next to me, ahhhh what do I do? I said nothing strange right? Pichiti has been combing me these last days to go meet Victor and give him some cookies as a thank you for the other day and he just pops out of nowhere in class, sits next to me and still asks if he can join me ?? Oh omgomgomgomg, what do I do? OK breathe, calm down and act normally.> Victor then asked yuri some questions about the subject that helped him calm down and both made a lot of progress until the end of the class.
When the class was over Victor accompanied yuri to the dorms since yuri would not have combat class today due to some problems. They were talking about their findings, yuri had realized that not only was Victor a good tutor but he understood botany very well and they had a very lively conversation. Arriving at the first year's building, Yuri said goodbye to Victor and was about to enter when he felt Victor gently holding his arm.
"Do you want to get rid of me that fast?" asked Victor, making a lost puppy face.
"It's not that Victor" urged yuri who did not like to see him sad for some reason "its just that I have some homework to finish doing beyond the service of working students to complete. Don't be sad, we can meet another day to talk more."
"Seriously?" Victor said smiling a little "so let's meet tomorrow? I can take you to my research center, there is so beautiful you will love it."
"Tomorrow will not do" said yuri a little disappointed "I need to do some shopping for my room and I do not know how long it will take since I know almost nothing here."
"If you want I can go with you and show you around " Victor said approaching yuri and giving a gallant smile.
"Hmm, if there's ..." yuri lost a little focus and blushed furiously when Victor started playing with a lock of his hair.
- If there? - Victor asked looking into the eyes of yuri and smiling to see how red he had become
"If there's no problem, I don't mind," said yuri quickly and gasping a little as he regained consciousness.
"Marked then," Victor said, pulling back a little. "I'll catch you at 10 tomorrow?"
"Alright" agreed yuri
"Okay" Victor said taking yuri's hand and bringing to his lips "until tomorrow then my sweet yuri" he spoke and kissed yuri's hand that blushed even more with the gesture. Laughing a little Victor walked away toward his bedroom. Meanwhile Yuri had been petrified in the same place until another student asked to excuse himself to go through the door, returning to his senses he ran up to his room closed the door and slid against it until the floor sitting down. <What do I do? Victor is too much, my heart is beating so fast it hurts.> Yuri thought as he wondered if it had been wise to accept Victor's proposal. He didn't know if he could keep his sanity and heart safe after spending an entire afternoon with him.
