In which yuri decides to become a scholar
While the rebel attack was being forgotten by people's busy routine, Yuri started his new life in the his new school in Kulperchask city. It was a city of researchers and the home of the Reilgh Academy, one of the largest academies in the country. The Acadeny was responsible for most advances involving magic and magical apparatuses. It's differential was that all people, be it alpha betas and omegas, studied standing at equality. Did discrimination still exist? Yes, but this academy struggled to minimize it. With (almost) ideal options many benefited. Nonetheless, the academy had an entrance exam, and for years there had not been an equaly number of free spots for each person who decided to attend the academy, so a certain level of schooling was required if they wanted to attend it. However, the minimum age required to enter was 17, so many traveled to the city (those who were able) to study in schools around the academy (who may or may not have teachers who studied / graduated from it).
Reading about the academy in some books, Yuri had been curious about what it would be like to study there, but because he was always discouraged by his teachers, he thought he would not be able to enter. However, due to recent events he thought it was best to try to get into the Academy at least to see if he could understand the power that had killed the people around him. By speaking to his father he agreed but he would only support his basic needs and if yuri wanted something he would have to work to buy it. Yuri took the opportunity to spend time with his brother who had returned for the summer holidays, and when classes began, Yuri said goodbye to his family and left for his "new" life.
Following his father's suggestion he enrolled in a high school with the surname katsuki. Despite entering in the middle of the period, his classmates were very welcoming and he soon got used to his new school life.
~ 5 years later ~
Time passed, Yuri had made several friends, among them there was pichiti, who was an omega. After Yuri helped him study for a subject, and Pichiti helped Yuri when he got drunk at a party, both became inseparable friends. Since Pichiti was omega, yuri helped when he forgot to take the suppressors or when they didn't work, since betas are not affected by omegas pheromones ( he didn't help sexually). He, Pichiti, Otabek, and Lilian were even part of a research group doing research on the changes that's omega's period causes on the body and looking for new ways to suppress the peak period efficiently and safely for people. Yes they were only 17 years old, but they helped researchers more than actually participated in research because they still had a normal grade level (unlike academy students who had a flexible schedule if they wanted to pursue research). Since their group had some students and faculty who attended the academy, they guided the students on when to take the entrance exam.
The day of the entrance exam had finally come. Although he had studied and prepared Yuri was very nervous, his insecurities were coming to the surface and he was afraid of the tests. The academy test consisted of three parts: theoretical (calculus, history, herbology, history of magic, science), practice (combat, horse hiding, botany, alchemy, and writing) and the last was for magical power (where your gift was valued). In the theoretical, although nervous yuri managed to answer the minimum to pass each topic, in alchemy, botany and horse hiding practices were the ones he stood out and in magic was considered inconclusive, because despite him having magical power (mana) in good quantity his Magic had an unexpected way of manifesting and often it could not be controlled resulting in minor accidents. Therefore, the evaluators could not obtain his affinity.
After a whole day of testing, and being mentally exhausted, the group of friends got together and went to celebrate the end of the exams as well as wait for the results that would be released the next day. Everyone gathered in front of the scoreboard the next day and joyfully saw that everyone had passed. Life at the Academy started for Yuri.
