Asuma led his team to eat barbeque, and all of them shared some stories about themselves. Except for Naruto, who mostly kept to himself and just said a few short words here and there.
While they were eating, they noticed Choji Akimichi entering the restaurant. They beckoned to him, and he joined their table.
"So who are your teammates, Choji?" Ino asked him.
"I got paired with Sakura and Sasuke. Kakashi is our instructor, and he made us wait for an hour in the classroom." The Akimichi answered while grabbing a piece of the barbeque.
Hearing his response, all the happiness that Ino felt for passing the secret test disappeared in an instant. "That stupid forehead is on the same team with Sasuke? You have to be kidding me! I should have been the one paired with him."
"What do you mean Ino? You don't like your current team?" Asuma asked her.
The Yamanaka girl got flustered "This... I mean... It's not like that!" It's not that she didn't like them, they are after all the reason she passed, but she would have preferred to be with Sasuke.
"I see, I see. Young love is such a beautiful thing. I remember when I was your age..." Asuma started telling stories about his younger self and later on, on how he joined the Twelve Guardian Ninja. A few more stories later, the group departed, each going their own way.
Shikamaru entered his home and was greeted by his mother and father.
"So how did it go, Shikamaru?" Shikaku questioned him.
"I'm on a team with Ino and Naruto. Asuma is our teacher, and we passed his test. All in all, it was very troublesome." The young Nara replied to his father.
"I'm pretty tired of having to hide behind a tree, so I think I'm going to need to sleep for a few days. Goodnight." Shikamaru told his parents before they can ask more questions.
"Did you hear that Shikaku? Our son got tired from hiding behind a tree. I think you have to be more strict with him, and this deserves some extra training." Yoshino told her husband.
"Leave the boy alone, dear. He passed the test, right?" Shikaku said.
"Shikaku, it seems you like the couch that much, huh?" His wife asked with an aggressive tone.
"I'll make sure he gets some extra training!" The Nara Clan head instantly agreed with his wife. Turning around to look at his son, he saw Shikamaru mouthing 'Whipped' and making a motion with his hand like he is using a whip. 'You will regret that later, my son.' He promised to himself.
At the Yamanaka household, Ino walked it and ran straight to her father, hugging him. "Daddy, I got placed on a team with Shikamaru and Naruto. Asuma is our teacher, and we already passed the test. Tomorrow we will start our missions!" She chirped in excitement.
"So you got placed on a team with Shikamaru and Cho... Did you say Naruto?" Inoichi was begging to whatever entity is out there that he misheard. Ever since the incident at Naruto's apartment, he couldn't sleep peacefully at night.
"Yep! We managed to beat Asuma and get the bells from him. Shikamaru made the plan and Naruto created a lot of Shadow Clones and..." Ino explained in full detail how they got the bells from their Jonin.
"That's great news, but Ino, I need you to make me a promise," Inoichi said with a serious tone.
"Okay." She responded.
"Promise me that you will never ever use our Clan Jutsu on your teammates. The only one that you are allowed to use is our Telepathy one. Promise me that." Seeing how serious her father looked, she noded. "I promise you." After that, Ino went to tell her mother about her passing and left Inoichi alone.
'I worry about my life every day, and now I have to worry about my baby girl's life as well. Hokage why have you done this to me?' Just one more push and Inoichi would have an emotional breakdown.
The next day Team 7 gathered at eight o'clock at their training grounds. Smoking a cigarette, Asuma addressed each of his new students.
"Ino, I heard that you are on a diet. You are to immediately stop that, and start eating healthily."
"But Asuma, I need to look beautiful and.." She tried arguing but was cut off by her instructor. "No buts! Or do you prefer to look beautiful while you are death? We are ninja we do need a diet, we train our bodies every day. A diet could lead to the death of any of your teammates, so unless you wish death upon them, you will stop!" Asuma told her with a stern voice.
"Shikamaru, you have potential, but you are as lazy as any other Nara. I will make sure to change that in the near future." Shikamaru dismissively waved his hand at him but didn't argue back like Ino.
"I've worked with a few Nara and Yamanaka before, so I know how I would be able to help you two improve. You are most certainly lacking in Taijutsu so we will be working on that with you. The rest would be taught to you by your parents." Asuma told the two, before turning towards Naruto.
"I'm not sure what I can help you with though. I'm considered an all-around ninja, but I'm strongest at mid to close range. My Taijutsu might not be the best in the village, but I'm very proud of my Bukijutsu." Asuma told Naruto while pulling out his signature trench knives.
"Bukijutsu? That sounds interesting. Do you think you will be able to help choose a weapon for me?" Since the Hokage had told him to not show his Magic, the Uzumaki figured he could pick up using a weapon.
"No problem. We will do our team exercise for two hours, and then we will go pick up a mission or two. After we are done with that, we can go see what would suit you." The smoking Jonin was glad to hear that Naruto was interested in Bukijutsu. He knew that Kakashi was his Ninjutsu instructor, Guy was his Taijutsu one, and Kurenai was helping him with Genjutsu. He couldn't compare to them in those fields, but he was a better Bukijutsu user than them.
For an hour, Asuma spent one on one helping each of his students, and for one hour more, they worked on their teamwork. Satisfied with the performance of his Genin, the bearded Jonin led them to the Mission Assignment Desk for their first mission.
Any ideas for his weapon are welcomed.
