Chapter 47: Clonazepam

Ador came home. Her parents never told her anything. They silently watched Ador as she fell into deep slumber. After around six hours, she woke up at four in the morning. She went to the toilet and started whimpering, then her sobs became louder. She howled, screamed, cried. It tore the hearts of the trio. Unma was shedding silent tears. Kir left the house in early morning light, as he could not bear his eldest daughter's wails. Ita was standing outside the bathroom, waiting for Ador to come out. It had been pretty long, till the sobs subsided. Ita fetched a totally wet Ador, changed her clothes and put her back to sleep.

After too much of coaxing, Ador slept. She woke up at six in the evening. Ita told her to eat. She ate after Kir got emotional and cried.

When everybody tried to make her understand that she was fine, going to be better with each passing day, she smiled, looking at her loved ones.

As night approached everyone slept except Ador. Her whole body was burning. She thought it must be because of the bleeding, but no, the burning did not stop. She had two litres of water. She tried to sleep. Her body started itching. She scratched here, she scratched there, but to no avail. She did not want to bother Unma, who was sleeping soundly.

She went to the verandah and sat there. The cool night breeze was trying to arrest the heat waves in her body. When Ita woke at five in the morning, she saw Ador sleeping on a chair in the verandah. Ita did not feel like disturbing her. She knew Ador was having an emotional breakdown, but her strong girl would rise up again.

Alas.....

When Ador awoke, she told her mother that her body was burning with heat. Ita checked, there was no fever.

Unma noticed Ador's eyes..... they looked lifeless. When they had breakfast, Kir told Ador to wake up from this situation and take control of her life. Ador agreed. She then suddenly started scratching her head, then her shoulders, then her genitals. Kir was shocked. Ador started screaming that she is burning and finding it difficult to breathe. The trio looked at each other. Unma went to her room and started searching in google, for a nearby psychiatrist.

Ita came to her room and when she saw Unma taking an appointment at Colombia Asia Hospital, for a psychiatrist, she took her mobile and disconnected the call. "Ador is not mad ", she said. Unma told she knew, but Ador needed help, so she called the hospital. Ita told Unma, that they will see for a day or two and if things don't improve, they will go to the psychiatrist. Both agreed.

Ador was continuously scratching different parts of her body, unaware that both Kir and Ita found it disgusting.

Again after sometime she went to her mom and said she was burning all over. When Ita gave her a glass of cold water, Ador smiled at her mother. Ita shivered. Ador then went to read newspaper, but kept on scratching herself. She then suddenly went to the washroom, saying she needed to clear her bowel.

After half an hour when still the door of the toilet remained closed, Kir became worried. He then told Unma to check on her sister. Unma went and knocked on the door. The door was not locked from inside. She peeped in to see, Ador with her clothes on, was taking a cold shower. She went to her mother and said, to treat Ador's instability on urgent basis and to take her to a psychiatrist without delay. None had breakfast or lunch and all four of them went to the hospital.

The psychiatrist heard Ador and her problems of flushed skin and itching. Kir told about the miscarriage at four months. The doctor wanted to talk with Ita alone. He said she was having panic attacks due to anxiety and stress and prescribed clonazepam in a high dose. He told, maybe Ador has suffered a lot of pain, be it physical, emotional or mental agony. He suggested whenever Ador would feel flushing, restlessness and itching, to give her the medicine under the tongue. She would be quiet and would feel sleepy. As days would pass, there would be signs of improvement, definitely, and with improvement , the dose would be decreased , treated slowly, and then, if required, on emergency basis, she would take it, sos.

The Doctor told to come after a month, to see, how Ador fared.

When Ador reached home, she was quiet. After sometime she started saying, she was thirsty, then started her new routine of being uncomfortable and itchy. She started to become restless. Ita made her have clonazepam. After sometime, Ador quietened down. Then she slept. The trio had dinner silently. It was surely a tiring day. Ita kept an ORS solution beside Ador.
