Chapter 42: House On fire

They entered a discotheque. Outside there were bouncers. Huge body builders. But since it was new year's eve and the crowd was big, be it on road or entrance of the disco, Ador felt shy. Though she liked what Dev gifted her, but people were looking at her. She felt a bit..... different. Dev had eyes only for her but she was looking around, just to mask her timid self.

When they entered the discotheque, Ador helped herself on a high stool at the bar end and was having mocktail. Dev was in a gay mood. He asked for vodka. His usual self immersed in alcohol. Nothing new for Ador. She thought once she gets back home, she will tell her mom about him, her feelings for him and the like.

The party started. There was loud music. Many couple, be it foreigners with blonde hair, local Thai couples, and a mixed group of south Asian tourists were enjoying, screaming and shouting amongst the loud music and dancing the night out.

At midnight, when the clock struck 12.01 am, Dev wished Ador happy birthday. Ador laughed and said, "Silly.....Its happy new year"

Ador was all giggles, seeing her dumb man acting all manly and asking her for a dance.

Both danced. Ador used to learn Kathak till class eight and left. Still she had some moves and graces. But Devin was a very bad dancer. Due to his stomping of feet not in sync with the music and he trying to show his flying kicks and all to impress Ador, the dance floor became empty. Ador felt embarrassed. She told, " it's enough, let's sit over there " and pointed to a cosy corner. Dev agreed. They sat on a secluded area, far from the dance floor. Once Dev left the dance floor, young teenagers and couples whisked back in. Ador really appreciated the Thai people for understanding Dev. She smiled.

A local guy, with red hair, looking weirdo was walking towards Dev and Ador. He asked Ador for a dance. She looked at Dev, to realise, that he passed out after the strenuous dance.

Ador smiled at the red head and asked him, his name. "I am Tim" he said. Then he waltzed her to the dance floor. He said he never had an opportunity to dance with an Indian and since she had great moves that flowed with the rhythm and tempo of the music, he wanted to be her partner. Ador smiled. She felt elated that someone praised her. Instead she relaxed in his arms and danced like a free bird. Everyone clapped when they finished dancing. Ador was trying to keep her heart in control. She never thought she could dance that well, smooth as a swan. Tim thanked her, took a few selfies with her as a memento. When she went back to Dev, another guy came up to her and said, " Babe, you put the house on fire"

Ador blushed.
