Chapter 33: Phuket calling
After spending two nights and three days at her parents home for Ashtmangala, as per tradition, she and Dev went back to Durgabari.
It was Ador's first time travelling outside India. She was excited. She packed her bags. Two bags , a duffle bag and a suitcase, for seven days, was enough she thought. From jeans, to salwar kameez, to long skirts, to block heels, to stilettos to sneakers, lacy underwear, satin night gowns, to cosmetics, everything was packed, Ador even packed her chappals, in a separate compartment along with mobile charger and first aid kit. When everything was packed, Dev entered the room and gave three T -shirts, a pair of underwear, one boxer, a cargo pant and jeans. " That will be enough for me, " he said. " Just pack them in your luggage. " Ador said, " My luggage is full, no space". Dev looked at all her belongings stuffed there and said" Fine, suit yourself. But I will not carry your luggage. You will carry yours and I will carry mine". So saying he left the room, to come back again with a bag. He said, " Now please pack" and left again.
Ador packed the casual backpack of Dev.
After thinking over the heavy luggage of hers, she again opened her duffle bag and suitcase, to lessen the load. If she truly had to carry, then who knows, she might suffer from a terrible backache. She left her darling block heels and flowery long skirts. She also reduced her cosmetics. Silly that she was, she tried carrying her two luggage and walked in the room, for practice. She shook her head post the walk, it was good of her to verify her capability and inserted an analgesic cream along with her toiletries.
Both Dev and Ador boarded Air India Express flight at 12 pm IST. It was Ador's first air travel. She was excited. She blabbered to the immigration officer her purpose of travel, to be honeymoon. The immigration officer had told Ador to change her passport, as now she was a married woman. She felt nervous. Dev showed the marriage certificate carbon copy to the officer . After the security check in at Kolkata airport, Dev saw his cousin sister Ria and her hubby Mogambo, there.
After exchanging pleasantries, Ador came to know that they too were travelling to Phuket for winter vacation.
Now that the luggage were in the flight, Dev handed over his backpack to Ador to carry. Since it was her first time going out with hubby, she did not say a word and took in Dev's load, (the cabin luggage) along with her sling pouch.
After boarding the flight, she called up Kir and talked with Ita, Unma and Kir. Before switching off her mobile, she called up Gopi to bid adieu. She then sat on the window seat and looked outside. When the flight took off, she was a bit scared but after sometime, she was used to it. It was only that her ears were blocked, but she did not panic and looked out at the beauty of nature's landforms. Who knew that she would have sleepless night there...
