Chapter 30: Scared
Gopi thought quickly. If Ador goes home abruptly, she will create a ruckus and never come back. She needed to buy time. Plus their name would be tattered if word goes out, about her family. She tried to calm Ador.
"My darling, see.... life post marriage is full of surprises. Some surprises you will love, some you might not even think of remembering. This is a new life. Are you a cry baby,dear?? Oh... come-on. "
Ador pulled back her hands from Gopi's grasp. She kept her head down, thinking fast as to what to say next.
In the meantime Gopi was searching of a beautiful lie. Suddenly her eyes twinkled as she thought of her masterstroke. She laid down her masterstroke, her plan of action, like a mouse trap, for Ador, to enter.
"Dear, like any other Indian girl, you have your own dreams and ambitions. You wanted to work post marriage, we all agreed. Right? But what about Dev's dreams? I understand, he was a bit scared to face you post the whirlwind marriage, so he went to have beer, to get some courage, to ask for forgiveness, to make you sort out your problems with him, if any, you see... to make your first and his first..... ahem special, but he got carried away. " She coughed knowingly to make Ador embarrass. "See, after all he is a man, a young, hot blooded, male. He also has desires and needs.... Do you understand Ador....!!!! "
Ador turned pink with embarrassment. She nodded.
"Well, you will go to your parents for Asthamangala, as per the ritual, but as of now, you need to make Dev admit his faults, make him say sorry... so wait, dear. Patience is a virtue. Go have lunch. Wait in your room. I will talk to your father is n law. "
Ador watched television for sometime, had lunch, strolled in the garden to uplift her spirits and went to her room. In a few days she will go home, she will tell her mom then about all this, she merely thought. So when Ita messaged her, if all was fine in Durgabari, she replied with a " yes".
There was a knock in the door, she was asleep. There was a second time knock and then someone entered. Ador jumped up in fright.
That someone, then, switched on the light, it was dark outside. Ador looked up to see the wall clock, she had slept for over three hours. She looked at the person, standing in front of her. It was Dev, all in black. Black shirt, black trousers. Only his fair and handsome face with a sheepish smile was looking towards her. Her expression became complicated . "Looking like a devil", she muttered to herself and did not smile back recounting the hard slap.
He pulled his ears and said " am sorry for what I did, but you just denied my kiss. I felt bad, so... you know... I got carried away, plus because of the beer I became more bolder..... so... I..... should not have done what I did.... but you..... you could you know..... kiss me. Your lips were inviting.... but you were not..... so I got angry with myself for not being able to kiss your red.... red lips..... so I..... you know.... nobody refused me... you are the one..... who did.... so... so"
Ador said, " I got it, what you are meaning to say. Am sorry. But I don't like smell of alcohol.... so..... so..... "
"Hush, sweetheart..... we both have spoiled last night of togetherness, but let's look forward to a better us..... as a couple, what say??? "
So saying, Dev started unbuttoning his black shirt. He was looking at her. Ador got nervous. He unzipped his trousers, folded his clothes carefully, kept it in a stool, nearby and stood in his boxers, looking at Ador, and smiling.
Ador searched for water. Her mouth was dry. She felt too scared to look towards him. She gulped down half of the water bottle at a go.
Dev laughed out loud. "sweet, sweet Ador, it seems you are scared, my dear pussycat, what should I do with you, huh?? "
Dev approached towards the king sized bed.
