Chapter 29: I want to go home
Ador did not believe what happened with her. She was in shock. First and foremost Dev slapped her, secondly he forced her out the door and banged the door at her face. It was an insult.
She stood there. Her legs had become solid as rock . Her cheeks were burning. Her silent yet hot tears fell unendingly. Shel left for her room. Ador was in a mode of denial. Only once in her life was Kir and Ita, angry with her when she was in high school for meddling with her elder cousin who used to bully her and Unma. For that she had taken revenge in the form of justice for both Unma and herself. That day Kit was furious, he had spanked her and so had Ita. She did not mind, then, because she felt that what she did with Munni served her right.
What had Dev asked her, a mere kiss. But it was their first night of togetherness. It had to be special. It had to be romantic. How could she let someone invade her lips when his mouth itself was stinking.. Eeks!!!!
She was recaptulating what happened time and again. She wanted to tell her mom, but it was 4 am. Her family must be tired after all . They also needed time to relax. She looked down to her cracked Nokia. It had died out of battery. She sighed and put it on charge.
Her stomach grumbled. She was hungry. There was no snacks stored in her room. She drank an entire pitcher of water and sat by the corner of the decorated bed, waiting for dawn.
When Ador woke up, it was almost ten in the morning. She quickly went for a shower and wore again a saree. This time she meticulously wore it her own self. She was a fast learner.
She went downstairs to see that Bali had already left and it was only Going who was waiting for her, keenly observing what Ador wanted to say.
The domestic help had told Gopi earlier that Ador had skipped dinner. When Ador came with one bruised, red swollen cheek, she got perplexed. She called her dearly and told Ador to sit first. She offered her tea and biscuits and asked her what happened. When Ador narrated the whole story. Gopi listened and then asked her, what Ador wanted.
Ador replied " I want to go home, I want to go home now... "
