Sparring

Cassie's final roundhouse kick sent Amy staggering backwards. She had brought her arms up to block it just in time but the affects of the attacks before it were taking their toll. During the whole sparring match Amy hadn't layed a since hit on Cassie even with all of her injuries. Whether it was due to her subconscious fear of hurting Cassie further or that their skill level was THAT far apart, Amy didn't quite know.

Cassie dropped her arms slowly as Amy recovered and felt at her waist and ribs.

"They've mostly healed up now. Do you want to keep going like this or do you want to actually try and hit me?" teased Cassie. Her mood had greatly improved during the spar as if it was a calming music for her to listen to. Amy shook her head to snap out of the daze and got back into a fighting stance. Cassie took the stance as a yes to continuing and edged forwards.

Amy jabbed at Cassie with her left hand who dodged to the side. Cassie smirked at Amy and in doing so failed to notice Amy's right arm coming up as well towards the side of her face. The hook connected and Cassie's head whipped round from the force. A leg swept at her feet sending her into a horizontal fall. The leg rose up into the air and slammed down with an axe kick into her stomach. Amy hadn't realised what she was doing and kept going with the flow.

Cassie on the other hand was having a very different feel about this turnaround. The strike to her stomach and laying on the floor sparked something inside of her. She rolled up into a squat and sprung upwards into the air. Activating her ability, a clone dove down behind Amy and wedged its shoulder between her shoulder blades. Amy watched as Cassie's arms separated into hundred of duplicates making her look like medusa with arms instead of snakes. Cassie landed and unleashed a torrent of punches using every fist she now had.

The clone behind Amy held her firmly in place as every punch hit her at full force. Finally, Cassie snapped back into reality and instantly retracted the arms and clone. Amy fell to her knees coughing and Cassie raced to help her. She reached her arm out to Amy's shoulder and...

Something was strange. Cassie couldn't quite place it at first but something was ... wrong. Instead of feeling Amy's shoulder she felt only air. Arm felt constricted as if a snake had wound its way up her leg, around her waist, and coiled along her arm.

After what felt like minutes like this, Cassie began to catch up and saw that Amy was no longer in front of her but instead below her. Around her arm was Amy's arms and her feet were off the ground. Her hair was flying in her face but Cassie could see the earth moving upside down and the ground getting closer and closer. Amy glanced back to see Cassie falling towards the floor. She expected to see shock or fear on her face but there was none.

Only a smile.

A smile that said 'This is what I love doing. This is bringing me happiness.' Cassie hit the floor with her back first and the rest of her body following shortly afterwards. The initial impact didn't affect her but as her waist hit the floor some of the wounds opened back up slightly and it sent pain sparking through her body.

Amy finished the flip and looked back at Cassie who was on the floor clutching her waist and convulsing. Looking around, she saw other students had turned to look after Cassie's big attack and watched as Amy lured her in for a flip. For now though, Amy's attention was on Cassie. Had she accidentally worsened the wounds and injured her more?

"Cassie? Cass? Are you OK?" asked Amy cautiously. Cassie rolled onto her back and burst out laughing. Amy helped her up and the bell rang for the end of the lesson.

Amy and Cassie walked back to their room to get changed and were passed by students complimenting them on their combat abilities. Amy thanked them and Cassie just smiled. This smile and the smile before were fake though. Just like the laugh.

During her fall, Cassie had tried to reach out a use her ability to cushion her fall but nothing had happened. As if her ability had vanished. Was she no longer able to use it at will? Was it because she was so pathetic that she couldn't protect herself and only harmed her friend? She had taken out her anger on Amy and badly injured her; she knew she had even if Amy tried to hide it from her.But Amy wasn't hiding anything though and the thoughts inside Cassie's head kept festering their way to deeper and darker parts of her head.

Once they reached their room and headed inside, Cassie went straight to work re-bandaging and plastering her wounds. Most of them had sealed up and left just a curved scab while others still bled just a little bit.

"Sorry about flipping you like that. I just got carried away after that amazing attack you pulled off! Do you have a special name for it or was it just improvisation?" asked Amy buttoning up her school shirt. Cassie tossed her PE shoes into the corner and turned to Amy.

"I call it 'Mugen Fists'. Translated it means 'Infinite Fists'. By creating the clone behind the opponent I can make sure they take as many of the punches as possible before they fall backwards. But because of my wounds I wasn't able to do it at full strength." explained Cassie. She moved to the side of her bed opposite Amy and sat on it so she had her back to Amy.

"Well, I hope to spar against you at full strength some day but for now I don't think I quite strong enough to do that!" joked Amy and she laughed a little.

Amy finished getting changed first and walked to the door.

"I hope you don't mind but I'm pretty hungry so I'm gonna go ahead and get something to eat." said Amy. Cassie gestured for Amy to go ahead with a wave of her hand. The door closed and Cassie flopped back onto her bed with a large sigh.

Worst - day - ever.
