Chapter 7: Moon and Sun waltz

Aniello entered the elevator just as a screen on the wall flicked on. On the screen was a heavily sweating man who was breathing loudly into the microphone.

"What is it?" asked Achille. She was angered by the man's presentation before her but didn't want to put Aniello off by shouting.

"He's here ma'am! Demitri is on-board this ship and he's asking for you directly!" explained the man with panic injected in his words.

Aniello looked down and saw Achille's fist clench and begin to shake violently. It was unclear whether it was in fear or in pure rage but either way he knew it was bad. She pressed the very top button of the elevator's selection and it instantly began to rocket upwards. The force it created nearly made Aniello fall to his hands and knees but he held it together and stayed standing until the metal box came to a quick stop making him fly up into the air a little bit.

The doors opened and Achille marched out in the room. Aniello had never seen the room before and went step out. He quickly froze before his foot touched the floor as he realised what the room actually was. The fabric chairs, carpeted floor, and large bed made it clear that this room was in fact Achille's room. Her bedroom. He put his foot back in the elevator's floor. He waited for Achille's command but it never came as she was too busy staring at the man who was sitting in one of the chairs with his feet on another and a dark purple, brimmed hat covering his face as if he was sleeping.

Achille kicked the man's feet off the chair and they slammed onto the ground as the man jolted upright. His hat fell off uncovering a neatly trimmed beard of black hair, grey eyes, and side parted hair. This must have been the Demitri man that came to see Achille thought Aniello as he watched from the elevator while Demitri stood up and walked over to a wall. His outfit was out in the open now showing a red and purple leather jacket, some contrasting white trousers, and some heavy-duty shoes to finish the discordant outfit. A quick movement of his elbow send a false panel falling open revealing a hidden drink storage.

"You really do like collecting these sorts of drinks, don't you Achille?" asked Demitri as he browsed the bottles and picked out one with a clear liquid inside. He voice was low and calm as if he was mocking Achille's unease. "Oh! This one's from the Netro system isn't it? You slaughtered a total of twenty billion people and the number still rises as you harvest the planet of it's resources. What was it you said? 'I collect a bottle from each system we vanquish!'" Demitri poured some of the liquid into a small glass and turned back to Achille.

In a split second, Achille had a knife's point to Demitri's throat and her mask was now landing on the seat wear Demitri was originally sitting. With her mask off, Aniello went to look away but the tenseness of the room kept him rooted in place. Achille's head was now open for all to see with pale, untouched skin, short white hair, and pale blue eyes. Looking back at Demitri, he had barely flinched and was now leisurely downing the contents of the glass.

"Sentra." said Demitri calmly and a metal stream quickly flowed to bridge over his left eye. Once a shape like half of a hexagon had formed, a glass screen formed as a hexagon over his eye making a mini computer display. While this had been happening, a series of tiny, black and purple triangular panels had fallen out from underneath Demitri's jacket and formed a large, futuristic cannon-like structure behind Achille.

"In position to eliminate threat." said a female voice that seemed to come from the cannon.

"What do think gives you the slightest right to enter my personal chamber, drink my drinks, and threaten my life?" demanded Achille pressing the knife slightly harder. Without the mask, her voice was a lot softer on the ears and actually sounded pleasant to hear for once.

"Well," began Demitri as he placed the glass down behind himself and brought his hand back around onto Achille's hip. His other hand took her knife hand and extended it out to the side creating the frame of ballroom dancers. Demitri took the lead and soon the two of them were waltzing around the room. The furniture was moved to the walls by the black and purple panels that also removed the knife from Achille's hand.

"Your people hired me to track down the plans a rouge scientist stole and return them to you. In return, you promised to give me the location of 'The Arsenal' so I could reunite Sentra here with the rest of her family." continued Demitri as the two spun around and around.

"Yes, we did. So what does that have to do with this?" asked Achille.

"I found a signal. A spacial anomaly to be exact. I believe the cause may have been the machine in those plans you want so badly."

"Where did it originate from?"

"Hey now, don't try to speed this up. I'm enjoying this moment between us."

"Well I'm not. This is embarrassing and I'd prefer it if you lost that childish grin."

"Alright, we can stop but I have only one question for YOU."

"What is it?"

"Who's the kid?" asked Demitri bluntly; his grin dropping to an emotionless look.

He spun Achille round a stopped her facing Aniello who stood still a first but quickly flicked his head downwards to look at the floor with fear leaking from all over. The image of Demitri and Achille staring at him burned itself into his memory. Achille blushed heavily and it contrasted like black to white to her pale skin. She dashed for her mask and put it back on. Aniello went to quickly glance back up to see what was happening but it ended up in him locking eyes with Demitri.

Aniello kept trying to make his eyes look away but Demitri kept them in place as his eyes turned from grey to a dark purple. The room around them quickly decayed into a horrific and fearful version with screaming faces pushing out from behind the walls, hands grabbing at the furniture, and Demitri was now the the thing that brought on the most fear in anyone. Aniello's eyes rolled back and he collapsed onto the floor at Demitri's feet.

"I even though it doesn't work on me, whenever you do that corruption thing with people's minds it still scares me. No wonder you choose to use Sentra as a means of offence. Your ability is ... frightening." said Achille as she checked Aniello's pulse.

"Corrupting people's mind and perception of reality is one thing. But this ability can do much, much more. I'll begin tracking the anomaly back to it's source and find the rogue scientist. Meanwhile, you need to make sure that this kid has a good rest and that you have the location of 'The Arsenal' ready for me.

Demitri walked into the elevator, pushed Aniello out of the way of the doors, and pushed a button. The last of Sentra made it's way up his sleeve and the display over his eye retracted leaving no trace of the super weapon for anyone to see. The doors closed just as Demitri gave Achille a wink and Achille looked at Aniello's unconscious body on the floor.

Everyone looks away from her. She hated being treated that way.
