Chapter 57: Surprise Surprise!

Nevaeh did not utter a single word till they were safely inside her bedroom, which she quickly bewitched with a sound silencing spell by her wand. Loki turned around in surprise; she was certainly taking a lot of precautions when it came to this particular topic of their departure. Loki went to stand near her window and Nevaeh lit a cigarette.

'So that went exactly the opposite way of what we thought. I clearly underestimated your father's bluntness,' Loki muttered. 'It's okay! We have a plan B,' Loki added hastily as he watched her run a hand over her forehead in frustration.

'I thought the community idea with serious adult supervision was plan B?' Nevaeh asked.

'It was, wasn't it? How about plan C?' Loki said.

'I just did plan C! That was my most powerful emotional attack on my parents in these past few years!' she said.

'And what if that doesn't work either?' Loki asked quietly, who was pretty sure that they did not have a plan D.

'Then, you know how I just told my father that we are going upstairs and not running away, so chill?' Nevaeh asked.

'Yes?' asked Loki.

'If it doesn't work out, we are totally running away. Let's give them a night to realise that this is the best idea ever.'

'You would really do that? For me?' Loki asked, feeling slightly touched.

'For you? As if! I need a holiday and that's why I am making all this fuss. I am leaving with or without you,' Nevaeh said in a mockingly uncaring attitude. Loki pinched her nose with two of his fingers and pulled her in an embrace, her nose leaving a bright red mark behind on its bridge as he let it go.

'Ouch!' Nevaeh laughed clutching her nose lightly by her fingers, but smiling nonetheless and leaning over his chest as he chuckled. 'But you handled your anger very well though. It went unnoticed by my parents that it was you.' Nevaeh took a seat on the bed as Loki sat opposite to her on the couch.

'They thought it was you,' Loki said, leaning ahead to lock his hands in front of his legs. 'I have a few things planned for that particular thing they thought you did.'

'We need to leave in order for that to happen!' Nevaeh said exasperatedly. 'I don't even need to go downstairs to predict what they might be talking right now!'

'And what would that be?' asked an intrigued Loki.

'Let's see. My dad is probably going on and on about how it is risky to let me leave, all the while depicting me as some petal-princess who isn't capable of doing shit while my mother soothingly reminds him that I am much more than that and he should not be worried so much,' Nevaeh told him. 'A couple of hours later, when my dad will begin to get eaten by the guilt of making that said petal -princess come close to tears by his words, he would come over to apologize, all the while staying firm over his previously stated words which made me cry in the first place!'

'Wow! It appears this is a frequent occurring,' Loki remarked.

'It was, before,' she said, 'it's a story for another day,' she added, answering Loki's questioning look. She sighed heavily and glanced at a deep in thought Loki, who was the main factor in reviving the fire of curiosity burning inside her mind. 'You know, when you told me to leave your palace, when Thor returned and you teleported me back here, I was doing some heavy thinking. The magic you can perform, your – your abilities – they shook me, and I am not ashamed to admit that they did not shook me in a good way. After my anger towards your lies faded, I began wondering about the incredibly amazing things your powers can achieve! I have never met anyone as magical as you in my entire life and – and there are things – things that I want to do with you – desperately – but we cannot do them while we are stuck here,' finished Nevaeh with a hint of neurosis, holding her stomach by her hands as though it was aching her terribly.

'Love, we are getting out of here. Soon. You have my word. But I have to ask, what is it that you want to do with me?' Loki asked slyly, moving her chin up by his finger as he smirked.

There was a sharp knock on the door and both of them turned to look at it in surprise. 'That was sooner than I expected,' Nevaeh muttered. 'Come in!'

Her parents cautiously walked in as if the room usually held a trampling Zebra within it. Loki stood up only to sit himself down again. They had slightly apologetic expressions on their faces and her father was looking extremely crestfallen.

'Listen, kiddo—'Samuel began when Nevaeh quickly interrupted him by making an overly apologetic face.

'Oh, I am sorry, dad. Are you here because I am breathing too loud? I swear, I tried not to breathe at all, but I haven't properly mastered that art yet,' Nevaeh said, faking sadness.

Loki chuckled heartily by this unexpected sass from her part and was shot with dangerously glaring looks from both her parents, silently forbidding him from encouraging her. 'Forgive me, she is just adorable. Pretend I am not here,' Loki said, clearing his throat a little as her mother smirked and Samuel shook his head.

'We actually need you here for this conversation,' Samuel said as they sat themselves down on her bed sill. 'What exactly do they teach on Asgard?' he asked.

'Everything, actually. It depends on what one seeks; magic or strength. The Master we were talking about teaches Sorcery; creating illusions, mystical enhancements, powerful defensive-spells, brewing healing potions. Others include archery, swordsmanship, wielding daggers, spheres and other weapons. Then there is afternoon meditation where they teach you to detach yourself from worldly conflicts and to appreciate the simplest forms of life. There are nature workshops, where everyone accepts everything found in nature as the divine elements provided as a blessing for the planet. Their teachings are quite extensive,' Loki said in a voice that dripped of nostalgia. Nevaeh watched her parents faces grow fonder as they heard Loki's unnoticeably convincing voice.

'You haven't been to Asgard since you arrived here. Will they not be worried, the people in your temple?' Ariel asked warmly.

'Worrying is in their nature. They care for everyone as if we were their own. But they know that I am fully capable of taking care of myself and the people I care about,' Loki said humbly.

'Well, their worries end tomorrow,' Samuel said, clapping his hands over his knees in a decisive manner

'Tomorrow?' asked a confused Nevaeh as Loki blinked at them in confusion.

'Yes, it's about time we pay Asgard a visit. Besides, we can talk about your admission with that Master and discuss everything,' Samuel said coyly while Ariel smiled excitedly as though they were providing her with an early Christmas present.
