Chapter 2: What the fuck.
Klak Klak Klak
Footsteps grew closer to where Adam was.
It's as if at any moment now, his heart could jump out and just flee from the suspense.
Due to the intense stress and suspense he was feeling at the moment, he started trying to grasp anything he could as his hands trailed the wall he was pressed against.
"unggu au anti. Etek eh best!" the first voice sounded once more as his feet came into sight from the corner of Adams eyes.
His eyes narrowed while holding back a gasp.
There were goblins.
Actual goblins.
You know, like those from the goblin slayer anime.
Just about 1 meter tall. Green with warts all over. At this moment, those two were only wearing a loincloth while one held a short sword and another a club.
`What the hell am I?!?!' Adam screamed in his mind.
He held his breath as the goblins walked pass him and down the tunnel where the scream came from as if eagerly enticipating what they would find at its end.
However, its as if the gods themself would not give him a break.
Just as they entered the tunnel to his left, they abruptly stopped moving.
"Apa au itu..." the first goblin spoke as it slowly started turning to the back.
Adam was clutching the wall staring right into the two goblins back. They might have missed him as they walked pass him from the right tunnel to the left.
BUT
there was no way they are going to miss him if they turn to the back.
'Shit, shit, shit! WHY ARE YOU TURNING BACK!'
The suspense made Adam gripped whatever he was gripping harder than ever. The further the goblins head turned, the righted his fist clenched the stone his hands were on.
"Ahhhhhhhhh" the screams of the girl could be heard once again accompanied by some rumblings in the cave they were in.
Suddenly, in just a blink of an eye, he was once again falling down.
Whatever it was that he was clenching, it would seem that it opened a pathway to where he was lying on. Its sudden opening caused him to fall into it unknowingly.
At the same time, as the goblin turned back and all it could see was darkness, he decided to just keep moving on to savour the treats that lay ahead.
"Ouch~" Adam sat up again.
The fall wasn't deep, the narrow walls stopped him from falling all the way down. What stood before him was a narrow path way leading down into the abyss while the other is a few steps before the opening where he fell in from...
Brrr Brrr brrrr
The caves rumbled once more and lo and behold, the door he fell from shut tight.
"Well shit..."
'I guess the only way left is to go down... Haih...' Adam thought to himself as he got up to his feet and started walking down.
The path down was dark. The walls seem much more ancient than the walls outside.
It didn't take long before he reach the end of the stairs only to stumble upon another large room with a floating orb on a pedestal in the middle.
The orb was emitting a dim glow that lighted up the room eerily. 5 thrones of different sizes circled the orb with the largest one located right in the middle facing the orb.
Each throne was decorated differently as if representing monarch of different countries.... Or perhaps... Seeing that this is that kind of novel with goblins already making an apearence.... Races.
Curiosity caught Adam. He walked upon the thrones and started investigating. Unfortunately, while there were writing on each of them, they were all in some weird script.
Adam was neither an expert code breaker or linguist before he was 'kidnapped' here so how on earth was he suppose to decipher the code or identify it if it was a different language.
What he did found however was a nifty short sword enscribed with what he guess was runes on one of the thrones that was roughly his size.
It's amazing that the sword was still in good condition when he took it out of the casing considering that it must have been there for a long time and this place was even more ancient that the pathway outside.
Besides, with a weapon on hand, he will have a better chance to deal with said goblins if they ever pop up again...
The next thing that caught his eye was the orb in the middle of the room. The erie purple glow captivated him as if calling for his soul itself.
It didn't took long before he was right infront of it and staring at it intently.
Suddenly a flash of red light in a shape of a cone emitted from it and flash straight as Adam's face from the orb as if scanning it followed.
" Unknown origin. Cannot identify. Please state your name...." the purple orb aburply spoke.
" What the fuck...." caught by suprise, Adam cursed unknowingly.
" Subject name, what the fuck, hello mr what the fuck." the purple orb spoke as soon as Adam paused. Clearly, it has mistook what he said as his name.
"...Wait... Wait... Waitttt! My name isn't... " the realisation of what is happening slowly hit Adam. As he started realising, he wanted to correct the misconception with the purple orb. However, before he could, he was aburply cut short.
"Registering entity What-The-Fuck" the purple orb said followed by a few blue flashes comming from it.
Before Adam could say anything else, a holographic monitor esque projection appeared infront of him from the purple orb. On it was his own information.
Name: What The Fuck.
JOB: jobless
Stats: Strength (5) Preception (3) Endurance (5) Charm (3) Intelligence (3) Agility (4) Luck (6)
Skills: none
"Hold up, my name is not what the fuck" Adam said as he scan through the information.
"Negative. Registration is permanent. No take backsies." The purple orb replied.
Adam startes rubbing his head. He has no idea what just happened but oh boy does he have a headache.
"Registration complete. Do you accept" the purple orb spoke once again.
"Accept what? What is going on...." Adam replied.
This time however, the purple orb just stood silently, awaiting for Adam to either tap on the accept or reject icon on the projection In front of it.
"Haih, I guess it's not the first time I accepted terms and conditions without knowing or reading about them..."
"Besides the path behind me is sealed and there's nothing else to do anyways so might as well I guess"
With his mind made up, Adam taps on the accept button.
