Chapter 3: Awakening
Lights floated in the air in containers of an unknown material . How the containers were able to contain the light was a mystery . They floated in the darkness as the only sources of light and Sam floated in front of them , and as he could tell , he was naked .
He was flustered for a long time before he finally calmed himself down and looked around .
Endless darkness was all he could see , except for those containers .
He looked down and almost had a fright from how nauseous he got . He immediately looked up and stared at the containers in front of him with a frown .
' Let's not look down . ' He thought . ' But what are these . '
He was confused for a while , before just like a game , an interface appeared in front of him . It was completely transparent and showed him the information about what he thought was the first container .
It contained millions of colors and as Sam looked at it longer , the number of colors stopped increasing , but Sam thought it was because he couldn't observe any more colours .
[ Qi ]
[ An energy used in the cultivation of the body and the soul ]
There was not much information , but just the name was enough to startle him .
' I can use Qi ? '
There were 6 more containers in front of him . He looked at each one of them one by one and realized he could not read any except for the follows :
[ Qi ] [ Mana ] [ Spirit Force ]
There was also one which simply read [ Energy ] . The other 3 were in some incomprehensible language and looking at the words gave him a headache .
[ Choose the type of energy to connect to . ]
These words appeared on the interface in front of him without warning and he had a surprised look on his face .
' Qi is depicted as extremely strong in the novels I read , but Mana is depicted as the energy of every living creature . Spirit force ... '
[ Increase the strength of your spirit . ]
' Seems like psychic energy or something . Those other 3 are unreadable but their information depicts them as being strong . But this ... '
He floated in front of one of the containers which glowed the brightest .
' It somehow feels extremely familiar . '
[ Energy ]
[ Simply increase the affinity to energies . ]
' Thought the description doesn't say much ... '
Affinity can mean a lot of things . Storage , resistance , etc .
' It seems most suitable for some reason ... '
He stretched his hand towards the container and slowly around it . He then firmly held the small hot dog like container in his hand .
[ Energy has been selected . ]
[ Proceeding ... ]
He felt his vision darken and then when he could see again he noticed he was sitting in a meditative pose . He tried to look around but suddenly his eyes closed and he heard a voice .
" I see . A rookie with affinity with me . If you can get anything from this , please try your best . "
The voice was old and seemed extremely holy . Sam was almost lost in it , but he felt as if there was something constantly leaking from his body , or the body he was in .
After he heard that voice he felt as if even more of whatever was leaking was being absorbed back into the body . It was a refreshing feeling and was extremely pleasurable . Sam lost himself in the feeling and didn't notice the passing of time as he got lost in the feeling of absorbing whatever he was absorbing .
" It is about time you left . " Said the old , dignified voice . " If you learnt anything from this experience , we may have fate together . Look for Reverend Daya , if you ever hear his name . "
Sam opened his eyes and in front of him was an interface .
[ Innate : Restoration awakened .]
[ Proceeding ... ]
His vision darkened once more and he found himself lost in the darkness yet again .
When he opened his eyes again he was moving at an extremely fast speed . He wanted to look around but had no control of his body .
He heard a voice yet again .
" Interesting . Someone awakening my magic as an innate . Hahahahaha . Very well . Go ahead . I'll use my strongest magic simply because you are the first one . " The voice was young and extremely enchanting .
Sam noticed that directly in front of him was a monster made of stone as huge as a mountain . His body was running precisely towards it .
Every time the monster moved one of it's huge legs , he would feel the Earth shake beneath his moving feet , but the body he was in kept moving and suddenly flew in the sky .
" Always remember , the body is just as important as the mind . " The voice whispered .
Many cards appeared in the body's hands and then started floating around it .
Some lit on fire , some flashing with lightning . They kept floating around his body and he clearly took in the feeling .
The body then pointed at the monster with one hand and then the cards surrounding it flew towards the monster , one followed by another .
They had all kinds of abilities and he saw as they slowly destroyed the rock monster till nothing of it was left .
" You are the first one I've ever met , so always remember . You need to rely on your body almost as much as you need to do on your mind . "
Sam inwardly nodded and an interface appeared in front of him .
[ Innate : Magic Deck awakened . ]
[ Proceeding ... ]
Sam closed his eyes waiting to open them again .
