Ye-Jin's cheeks started to heat up out of embarrassment. She didn't mean to speak her thoughts out that carelessly. She was worried that Kai might mistake her intention and much worse he might think her to be one of those crazy, psycho and stalker fans.
She hurriedly bowed her head down and with a soft voice quickly apologised.
Ye-Jin: (covering her cheeks) I am sorry! I shouldn't have spoken that brazenly.
Kai: (patting her head) hey! don't worry your pretty little head for such a small matter. You complimented me and there's nothing wrong with that.
Ye-Jin: (expectant) really?
Kai: (chuckling and nodding) yes absolutely.
Meanwhile, Ray who was finally done with the young pair turned his attention to the companion he had brought along. He was at first surprised to see Ye-Jin and Kai standing together. Her cheeks were painted red and adding fuel to the fire was Kai's hand patting her head softly.
Ray felt a sudden surge of anger within him. He wanted to chop Kai's hand off but he didn't know why he was having such strong and unreasonable urges.
Ray: (clearing his throat) Ye-Jin-
He couldn't complete his sentence because of his recently injured nose. He cringed a little but that was it, he didn't let the pain show much on his face. Moreover, there was no need for him to say much either.
Ye-Jin excused herself from Kai and went to stand by Ray's side her eyes filled with concern. Ray felt much better after Ye-Jin moved closer to him and away from Kai- but this sudden change sadly passed unnoticed by him.
Ye-Jin: (squatting down) does it still hurt?
Ray only nodded in response.
Ye-Jin: (frowning) should we go see a doctor?
Ray was obviously pleased with her worry for him. He only shook his head to all her queries. After Ye-Jin was done with her inspection she stood up.
They failed to notice that the remaining members were completely silent during their exchange but the guys threw each other meaningful looks and chose to be mum about what they saw.
Timo: (breaking the silence) so you're the pretty woman who wanted to meet us?
Ye-Jin: (nodding) thank you for fulfilling my little request.
Timo: no problem, you're Ray's friend so you're our friend too.
Ye-Jin could do nothing but smile gratefully at Timo who was obviously trying his best to make her feel welcome around them. It was given that she was feeling out of place as they were the celebrities she followed. It was a miracle that she wasn't crying and sniffing in front of the quintet.
Mui: I am curious about something-
Kai: you're always curious.
Mui: (defensive) that's given since you guys always keep me and Vic out of important matters.
Timo: (rolling his eyes) what are you curious about?
Mui: (to Ye-Jin) you are the same person who called us to fetch Ray that night right?
Ye-Jin only nodded in response to his question.
Mui: ah! that's why you look so familiar! But on a serious note, you're really very pretty in the daylight. I couldn't see you properly back then due to bad lighting.
(A/N: this was when Ray was rejected by Aera)
Ye-Jin: (smiling faintly) Thank you.
Timo: come on I'll show you around this floor.
Ye-Jin: (surprised) b-but? won't that be troublesome? Ray was telling me about your meeting at noon-
Timo: (glancing at Ray) there's no trouble at all. The guys are all mess as you can see. They'll tidy up by the time we return. And as for the meeting we've still got time for that.
Ye-Jin looked at Ray and seeing him nod in approval she followed Timo out of the room.
Ye-Jin: did Ray tell you to do this?
Timo: (smiling) he only asked us to help him cheer you up.
Ye-Jin felt awkward when Timo honestly answered her question. She knew that Ray was doing this to help her come out of her recent slump. She felt horrible for pulling him who was an innocent bystander into her not so important problems.
Ye-Jin: (softly) I am sorry, you had to deal with me like this-
Timo: (waving her off) Nah! don't worry much about it. As I said earlier you're Ray's friend hence our friend too.
Timo was clear was about one thing. He knew that this woman who was obviously capable of bathing in gold and diamonds every single day was important to Ray. He certainly had many concerns when it came to them but it clearly wasn't his place to interfere in their personal lives. He could do nothing but watch from the sidelines and lend a hand when asked.
Timo: (changing the topic) I heard that you are a humanitarian?
Ye-Jin: (shaking her head) not exactly. I am actually a teacher. I only try to do my best in some situations.
Timo: don't be that modest. What you do is requires lots of courage and-
Ye-Jin: (changing the subject) what is this room for?
Timo understood her subtle try of diverting the topic and he didn't pressure her much about it.
Timo: that's our recording studio. It's currently closed for renovations.
Ye-Jin: (nodding) hmm, that makes sense. You're all on a break right now.
Timo: ah! I wish that we really were on a break. We still have some shows to wrap up.
Ye-Jin: Oh right, Ray was telling about your upcoming show in Shanghai.
Timo: (nodding) yes we are currently preparing for that.
After the little chat, both fell into a comfortable silence. There was no need for both of them to fill up the space between them with meaningless talks. If one looked at the pair they would feel that both of them had similar personality traits.
Timo continued with his exclusive- once in a lifetime- tour of their agency with his fan. He helped her familiarise with many departments in the floor allotted to them alone. The more time he spent with her, the more he started to like her personality. Although she was down to earth in some aspects that didn't mean she was simple-minded. She definitely knew how to carry herself with grace and dignity. He could see why Ray would treasure her friendship so much. She was smart, witty and easy to get along with. Moreover, she was a very good listener. That was enough for people to relax around her and share their woes.
Meanwhile, Aera entered the company looking exhausted. Her skin had lost its former glow in measly two days. She was wearing huge sunglasses to cover half of her haggard looking face. Truth be told she too hadn't had any decent amount of rest after her falling out with Ye-Jin. No matter in which way she thought she couldn't bring herself to wrap her head around the fact that Ye-Jin had lied to her.
Yes, it was true that she had assumed things about Ye-Jin but the other person had never tried to correct her. She felt betrayed when she thought how she was the only person- in their years of friendship- who was truthful. She never hid anything from Ye-Jin. But she, on the other hand, had never trusted her.
Aera sighed and pushed all the turmoil to the back of her mind for the time being. She still wasn't ready to face Ye-Jin in case she lost her temper and said something which she would regret later.
Before Aera could meet up with her group one of the trainees she was familiar with blocked her way. This was the same person who was bold enough to question Ray about his companion earlier that day.
Aera: (confused) what is the matter Sunny? Why are you blocking my way?
The girl named Sunny smiled brightly at Aera but it didn't reach her eyes.
Sunny: I thought you were sick, senior?
Aera: no I am fine now.
Sunny: (relieved) Well, that's good then. When I saw your friend come here in the morning I thought-
Aera: My friend?
Me: This story reached 50 chapters!
Ray: (grumbling) It had to when you were adding unnecessary fillers to it.
Ye-Jin: Ray, be good now.
Ray: (pouting) I stated the obvious!
Me: Don't fight guys. It's a good day today, we are at 50!
Ray: (more pouting) when are you going to get me together with Ye-Jin? After I cross 60?
Me: (chuckling) haven't you heard that patience is a virtue? If you're not careful then what you speak might really happen.
Ray: (almost crying) I hate you!
