When both of them entered the lobby of the building in no time they were surrounded by juniors. Ye-Jin who was new to this felt a little intimated by the sudden crowd. Ray, on the other hand, was cool as a cucumber. He calmly greeted all his juniors and every other assistant with a polite smile. He looked back at Ye-Jin to see her trying to hide behind him.
He couldn't help but chuckle a little when he saw her being timid. The first impression he had of this woman was that she was extremely courageous and nothing scared her but currently she resembled a little kitten.
One of the girls from the group surrounding them noticed the woman behind Ray and since she was a brave one she couldn't help but ask about the stranger in the company.
Girl: Senior, who is that behind you?
Ray didn't expect anyone to be this direct with him. After all, it was his private matter but still, he couldn't reprimand or be harsh to his juniors. He had mastered a very tight control over the past few years of his life as an idol.
Ray: (smiling softly) she's a friend of mine. If you guys excuse me we're in a little hurry.
After he politely said so the crowd didn't hold me any longer. There were many who were reluctant to let him go but they couldn't do anything and quietly made way for the pair.
Ray grabbed Ye-Jin's hand and without looking back marched forward into the elevator. This action of his made many jaws fall to the floor.
'Wasn't Ray rumoured to be in a relationship with Kai?'
'Why was he holding hands with a girl?'
'Were they dating?'
'Nah! that can't be. The girl definitely his cousin.'
Within the span of mere fifteen minutes, many speculations were made but ultimately everyone settled on
'Ray had brought his cousin to the company to give her a tour.'
None of them remembered that Ray himself had clarified that the girl with him was a friend of his.
Ye-Jin let out a breath which she had been holding when they were surrounded by so many people.
Ye-Jin: (curiously) is it always like that for you?
Ray: (chuckling) not every day. I thought you were used to crowds.
Ye-Jin: (shrugging) not to the fan crowds.
Soon the elevator doors opened and Ray got out still marching ahead holding Ye-Jin's hand. They were on the top floors of the building. There were not many rooms up here but every room had its door closed.
The curious cat Ye-Jin wondered what was kept in those rooms but she didn't dare act upon her thoughts. Before she could shake off the thought Ray himself supplied her with the answers.
Ray: This complete floor is for our group. All these rooms have various purposes, some are studios, dance practice halls, meeting rooms and everything else.
Ye-Jin listened to each one of his words with apt attention. It was as if he was telling her the secrets of being immortals. Ray obviously was pleased with her focus completely placed on him and his words.
Ray: (continuing) The guys are all waiting for us in our vocal practice room.
Ye-Jin: (blinking) they're all here?
Ray: (nodding) yes. We have a meeting at noon about our tour to Shanghai.
Ye-Jin: (speechless) oh!
Ray: (stopping in front of a door) here we are.
Ye-Jin: (swallowing) uh-
Ray: (patting her head) don't worry. they won't eat you-
Before Ray could finish what he was going to say the door to the room opened bringing a gust of air with it.
The remaining members of 5-Emperor's were lazing around in one of their designated vocal practice rooms. All of them had been cooped up there from the past two hours. They had been urgently summoned by their main vocalist- Ray- without any proper reason. He only texted Mui nine words stating
'Emergency, meet me in an hour at the company.'
and nothing else. Not even a little 'good morning' or 'are you there yet?' All of them didn't even know if they were supposed to be there. They just came along when Mui mentioned Ray, text and emergency in the same sentence. Now obviously they were regretting the decision.
Kai was sitting in a corner- away from the 'troublesome trio'- immersed in his phone with apt attention. It didn't feel as if he was paying any attention to others mutterings.
And the 'troublesome trio' which consisted of the eldest Timo and the younger bunch Mui and Vic was playing some dumb games and kicking each other- in short, they were finding dumb ways to pass the time.
The person who got kicked the most was obviously the youngest member Vic. His butt was going to bloom like a beautiful red flower at this rate.
Vic: (whining) I don't want to play with you guys anymore!
Timo: (chuckling) Come on! it's not our fault that you're not good at these games.
Vic: (pouting) I am pretty good, you guys are obviously cheating and I have to give in every time just because you're older than me!
Mui: (patting his head) it's your duty to get bullied from us. You signed up for it when you decided to join the group.
Timo: (smirking) just admit that you really enjoy our bullying. Otherwise, you'd be depressed.
Vic: (huffing) Call me back when Ray comes! I'm not staying with you guys any longer!
He didn't wait for their reply and hurriedly walked past their leader who was for some unknown reason was frowning at his phone. He faintly heard Kai muttering something under his breath but couldn't make out what was being said.
They say that curiosity killed the cat and Vic was one such curious cat. He stopped short, all his past grievances forgotten. He turned back and looked at their leader with a glint in his eye.
Vic: Big bro!
Timo and Mui were laughing at Vic's retreating frame but they too were surprised when he suddenly changed his mind. Timo looked at their youngest brother and noticed him looking eagerly at Kai. The signal was enough and the remaining two didn't waste any time in pulling their chairs and sitting around their 'lost-deeply-in-phone' leader.
The coyotes all surrounded the poor lamb who was weaponless and currently mindless.
Mui: (whispering) what do you think he's so lost in?
Timo: (whispering back) I have no idea. What should we do?
Vic: (adding his two cents) steal his phone?
Mui: nope! I don't want to get beaten! You can do that if you're interested.
Vic: (shaking his head) not me but-
They turned to look at Timo who was thinking hard. He looked up when he didn't hear them whisper anymore and was startled when he saw them looking at him with 'conspiration' clearly written on their faces.
Timo: (confused) what?
Mui: (smirking) what if you steal his phone?
Kai: (sigh)...
Vic: (urging more) see he's sighing! it's something very important but he isn't telling us anything about it!
Mui: (with bright eyes) and he won't dare do anything to you since you're older than him!
Timo: but-
Vic: (turning to Mui) wanna bet? I bet a 5000 that big bro won't be able to steal it!
Mui: (shaking his head) I won't cuz I know he won't-
Their arguments and the mention of the bet were enough to get Timo in on their scheme of snatching and running away with Kai's phone.
While all this scheming was being done Kai had finally put away his phone and heard all their 'loud' whispering.
Kai: (clearing his throat) you want to do what?
The trio looked up with shocked eyes and found their leader glaring at them menacingly. Mui and Vic, who were the actual masterminds behind their failed scheme gulped loudly.
Kai: (vein-popping) you-
The little kids didn't wait for a beat longer and ran out of the room fearing for their precious little life. But their bad luck was so rotten that day cuz when they opened the door they didn't expect that Ray would be standing in front of it and would be hit on the nose- pretty hard- as the end result. Moreover, Mui who was the culprit was frozen in shock holding the doorknob but sadly Vic ran into him and both of them along with the poor doorknob fell onto Ray who had already fallen to the ground in pain.
Timo and Kai followed out and looked at the chaos outside.
Timo: (bored) you're here finally?
Poor Ray and his poorer nose!
They both probably have a strong affinity to bad luck.
