It was three months later,
Ye-Jin was supposed to meet her sister So-ah- their mother's orders, at the hotel owned by them.
She left her work early that day and walked to the nearby hotel premises.
To her horror and surprise she had crossed ways with Aera that afternoon.
Both girls who were once joined by the hip were now straying apart. And both of them were somewhat aware of the void that was forming in between them.
The reason being simple- after their brief chat on Ye-Jin's back-porch that evening they hadn't had a decent amount of contact and adding to that Aera's busy oversees schedule, it was bound to happen.
Moreover, Aera had observed her friend acting out of character from sometime (a shocker but that's how odd Ye-Jin was behaving). For example, she was avoiding her but the reason was still not clear.
Now catching her longtime friend in the street like this Aera was definitely happy but she also noticed the little frown on Ye-Jin's lips. Given her self-centred and vain character she didn't care much about it but somewhere in the corner of her mind all these things were giving her a very bad feeling.
Aera: (waving excitedly) Ye-Jin! Going somewhere?
On the other hand Ye-Jin grew cautious at the sight of her friend. At first she was horrified and nervous like a thief who had committed some heinous crime and wanted to escape the death sentence. She didn't know why either but she felt guilty on seeing her best friend (as she believed it to be). She somehow forced a smile on her face which looked very unnatural but she wasn't seeing it so who cares.
Ye-Jin: (cautiously) yes. I have an appointment.
This was a sign!
Aera's mind ran through various scenarios in the blink of an eye.
Of course her imagination was excellent considering her perverted taste for gossip so in no time she came up with the idea that Ye-Jin was going to meet her new lover and for some reason she wasn't telling her about him. Also it seemed like a plausible explanation for her weird behavior these past 3 months.
Her eyes shined with mischief and curiosity and Ye-Jin missed the look cuz she was lost in her fidgeting.
Aera: (narrowing her eyes) can I join you?
Ye-Jin: (shuffling on her feet) um… Aera-
Aera knew that Ye-Jin was trying to look for excuses to reject her but she wasn't going to let her have her way this time. She was excited at the thought of catching her friend off guard and later creating some drama and then blessing the couple.
Aera: (smiling widely) great let's go! Later you can accompany me for some shopping.
Ye-Jin tried to protest but Aera wasn't going to listen and was already dragging her away.
In the beginning Aera was going to be a crap friend but I've had enough of such bitches so not going to drag my story in that direction.
I've also got a layout for the story of other three guys ready. Let's say I've completed it. It'll be up after this one is over.
Ye-Jin tried to protest but Aera wasn't going to listen and was already dragging her away.
Truth be told Aera truly did miss Ye-Jin and she also thought that it was going to be a great opportunity get her to spill the tea.
But Ye-Jin had grown extremely paranoid due to all the misplaced guilt, fear and overthinking. Aera's actions in her eyes were labelled as her vanity and stupidity acting up again. Her paranoid thoughts had become so intense that she even imagined Aera to have gotten a whiff of her relationship with Ray and grew jealous of it.
It was the first time in their long friendship and it was also the first time that both of them were behaving out of character. Ye-Jin was losing her rationality and Aera was thinking of someone other than herself.
Ye-Jin felt like smashing her head on some sturdy wall so as to put an end to all the maddening thoughts running through it. Because although she had developed a deep friendship with Ray no one knew about them- not even his teammates.
In midst of all of it Ye-Jin failed to notice that she was constantly thinking about Ray almost every waking moment.
Ultimately sighing in defeat Ye-Jin followed Aera into the hotel.
The staff recognized their boss and bowed to her; of course Aera misunderstood that it was exclusively for her as she was now officially an actress in some period drama and obviously she was exhilarated.
Looking around in amazement she followed Ye-Jin into the elevator and was constantly blabbering about herself while Ye-Jin bit her lip to red in worry of a revelation. On the top floor were the offices located. She went to the desk of the receptionist, Aera still following her now growing suspicious and concerned.
Ye-Jin: Is madam here?
Receptionist: (nodding with a soft smile) yes ma'am. She is waiting for you. If you would follow me-
Nodding Ye-Jin adjusted the strap of her bag and checked her appearance in the nearby glass window. Taking few deep breaths she followed the receptionist. The corridor which they were walking towards extended all the way, which gave Aera the time to ask the important questions.
Aera: (whispering) where are we going Ye-Jin? Who are you meeting?
Ye-Jin: Park So-ah. Please be quiet and don't speak a word in front of her.
Aera: (scoffing) as if.
Ye-Jin: (giving her a stern look) it's for your own good.
The intensity of her look shut Aera up pretty well. She had learned the hard way that when Ye-Jin gave you a serious enough look she meant what she was saying. So for her own long life and good health Aera did shut up.
