18% Runaway Rich Guys Love Endeavour / Chapter 18: Poster

Chapter 18: Poster

Kai (the cactus haired guy) wasn't convinced by Ray's reasoning. He had personally witnessed him flinch and cringe in pain. Getting your nose hurt was something he had experienced before so witnessing Ray's false confidence he didn't feel very settled.

Ray too noticed the conflicting emotions passing on the other guy's face and he was at a loss on how he should get rid off him.

Ray: (trying again) it's alright, I am fine. You seemed to be in a hurry before you ran into me. Don't you have any urgent job to attend to?

Kai: (startled) Oh yes! you are right! I almost forgot! but I can't just leave you here just like that too!

Kai started to wave his arms frantically due to panic caused by his dilemma. One was an urgent job he had to attend to and the other was a moral obligation, which he couldn't just shy away from.

Ray: (sighing) how about this? Buy me breakfast and we'll be even.

Kai: (pausing mid-way) -oh! will it be okay?

Ray: (nodding) yes it definitely will be.

Ray just wanted to eat his first breakfast after gaining some freedom in peace. He didn't want anyone to disturb him and his solution effectively offered a solution to both Kai's dilemma and Ray's wish.

Getting the much-needed confirmation, Kai enthusiastically paid for the breakfast ordered by Ray and bid him adieu to attend to his urgent work. Ray finally got the peace he wished for and he too dug into the food in front of him happily.

After finishing his breakfast, Ray decided to stroll around in the streets of the capital city to just take in the view. He wasn't in any rush to find a place for himself to stay at. He was finally free so he wasn't going to stick to his old habits of pre-planning and analysing every minute detail of each and everything. He was going to face things and his needs whenever he was faced with them and not a second before.

While roaming around the streets he came across an audition poster. It was a bright and colourful poster with aesthetic images of people enjoying themselves on the stage and there was confetti scattered around it. He felt as if the poster was prepared by someone amateur and not a professional. He stood in front of the poster for a beat more to memorise the details of the audition which was to take place in two days. He didn't know what the future held for him but he was eager to try out new things. Mostly the things which he couldn't try before (even in his dreams).

Strolling around next Ray came across a park which was currently deserted. It was expected as it was a weekday and most people would not have any time to waste at parks. Ray felt a little tired after his previous night without sleep and adding up all the aimless roaming- he was more than a little tired.

He found a huge tree inside the deserted park and laid down in its shade to get some much-needed rest.

Chapter 19: Stolen

Ray had a pretty good sleep.

Well you might all understand if you picture yourself finally getting some rest which you rightfully deserved after spending few days with your shoulders laden with responsibilities. The relief which one feels after either taking care of the said responsibilities or passing the load to someone else is inexplicable.

So ultimately Ray had shed his responsibilities which he considered to be BURDENS- with all capital letters. The load which was holding him down was finally lifted so naturally after feeling fatigued for years because of nightmares and all other accompanying stuffs he felt relaxed- more than relaxed (probably more than what I felt after I completed my recent viva-voce).

The main point point of explaining/elaborating all of it is to ultimately say that 'Ray' (the ML) slept like a new born baby. With that cute little pucker of his lips, randomly moving pupils beneath the eye-lids and even the sweet smile (which babies have for no-apparent reason) and not to forget all of this was happening beneath the shade of some huge random tree in some empty park.

When he woke up it was already nearing sunset. He sat up feeling refreshed and energized (like how people describe usually- filled with vitality) He also looked especially cute with his disheveled hair and disoriented eyes and brain.

He yawned and rubbed his eyes lightly to chase away the remaining sleep. He looked around trying to make sense of his surroundings and ultimately he brought up his left wrist to look at the time which somehow to his surprise was empty- there was only the old mark left by the watch (that white patch of skin which isn't tanned).

He stared at it for a beat longer and he ultimately realised that his limited edition specially customised for him only watch, which was his eighteenth birthday present from his sweet sweet mother was missing.

Flustered he looked around only to realise that his other belonging- which was only a small bag with few clothes- was also not anywhere to be found. Still unperturbed he searched his pockets and to his ultimate horror even his wallet was 'missing'.

And that was his cue to start panicking! How was he going to survive for the few coming days without any money. Adding to his frustrations, his stomach started to growl loudly- obviously it had to, he had skipped his lunch.

Not wasting much time he got up, dusted his pants and walked around the park to find any kind of clues. After ten minutes he found an old grandpa, who was there feeding the fishes in the small pond.

Ray: (politely) hello sir, can you please help me?

Old man: (nodding) yes?

Ray: (hopeful) have you seen anyone around here carrying a blue colored bag? It was quite expensive!

Old man: (thinking hard) Oh! I think I saw something-

Ray: (excited) really?

Old man: (nodding) yes, yes when I arrived at the park a young man was carrying a blue bag out of the gates. What happened?

Ray: (embarrassed) I was tired and fell asleep under a tree here, now my belongings are missing.

Old man: (sympathetically) oh! you should've been more careful young man. The people all are not to be trusted that easily.

Ray: (nodding) yes sir, thank you for your help. I'll try looking for my things. Can you explain how the guy looked please?

Old man: (thinking deeply) he kind of looked to be about your age, his face was long and his skin was tanned- I am sorry my eye sight isn't as good as when I was young. I couldn't see his face clearly.

Ray: (bowing respectfully) thank you very much for you help sir! I'll take my leave now. I am also sorry for disturbing you.

Old man: (nodding happily) I wish you luck young man, be careful from next time.

Bidding the old man his good bye after expressing his heartfelt gratitude Ray ran out of the park eager to find his belongings.

On the other hand the old man observed him run away and after he was sure that he had disappeared he carefully pulled out the blue bag from under his shirt- which had give the illusion that he had a pot-belly.

The old man had come to the park after he had failed at springing his trap on a young ladies purse in the public transport but who would have thought that he would be so lucky to find a fool sleeping like a dead body in the middle of the park with zero care for things. He had thanked his lucky stars and carefully stolen all the belongings- finders keepers and losers weepers.

Moreover he didn't expected the young man to be that naive. How much he wished that for all the people to be like him so that it would make his job much easier.
