After Ray had vanished from their sight Ye-Jin turned on Sooru.
Ye-Jin: (raising an eyebrow) from Mister to Brother? In a few hours?
Sooru: (star-struck) I didn't know who he was back then sis. Even you kept me in the dark.
Ye-Jin: (rolling her eyes) if I had told you back then you would have been fanboying over him and been useless.
Sooru: so not true but he is my inspiration sis. He is really cool.
Ye-Jin: I thought Shin Jay was your inspiration-
Sooru: That was until yesterday now it's changed to Ray!
Ye-Jin: (chuckling) Bro is going to whip your ass up if he comes to know about this.
Sooru: (shrugging) no he won't, even he'll understand my admiration.
Ye-Jin: (sighing) that I agree with you.
Ye-Jin reached her home at almost midnight feeling all kinds of tired and hungry. She took out her phone and switched it on simultaneously opening the door.
Her phone blinked up with notifications of almost thirty missed calls and a few numbers of texts and emails all from her friend Aera. She decided to put up a reminder to call back her the next day.
Ye-Jin threw her things on the table in the living room of her home and went into her room to change for the night.
She was coming out from the kitchen with a glass of water when she heard her phone blink up with a notification of some incoming text. Surprised at the timing of the message she swiped it open. It was from Ray.
'Ray: Is all well?'
Ye-Jin was at first surprised at the text and then it dawned on her that he had been waiting to know what had happened after he left.
She sat down on the couch with the glass touching her lips she typed away and sent
'Ye-Jin: yes.'
'Ray: have you reached home yet or no?'
'Ye-Jin: yes I just arrived at home.'
'Ray: have you had your dinner?'
'Ye-Jin: no and I am not in the mood to prepare anything now.'
'Ray: open the door. I am outside and freezing.'
Ye-Jin shot up from the couch in surprise, placing the glass of water on the table she ran to the front door.
No matter what safety comes first. So she first scanned the outside through the peep-hole and sure enough, Ray was standing there rubbing his palms together for some warmth.
She rolled her eyes at his state and opened the door for him.
Ray: (shivering) c-can I c-come i-in? It's c-cold.
She thought it served him right to shiver out in the cool night. At least that way he wouldn't forget warm clothes the next time he went out in the cold weather.
She rolled her eyes at his state and opened the door for him.
Ray: c-can I c-come i-in? It's c-cold.
Ye-Jin: (making way for him) serves you right for forgetting your jacket in this cold.
Ray: (showing her a gummy smile) I really did forget it this time in studio.
Ye-Jin: (locking the door behind her) what are you doing here now?
She wasn't asking him that question just out of curiosity. It was already past midnight and it wasn't appropriate for him to be in the house where a girl lived alone.
But as Ye-Jin probably had asked the god to write it in her luck or something, nobody gave any heed to her thoughts or feelings before making themselves comfortable in her small house.
Everyone treated it as their own home and sometimes it was as if she was invisible- her presence became totally null in her own house and that used to annoy her to no end.
But now she had grown accustomed to everyone just barging in and claiming her place their own.
Ray: where is your kitchen? I brought take-outs. I am starving.
Ye-Jin: (pointing to her left and mumbling) I just wanted to sleep properly before tomorrow's inspection.
Ray: inspection?
Ye-Jin: my parents will visit me tomorrow. It does feel like an inspection.
Ray: (nodding and placing the plastic bags on the counter) so let's dig in shall we?
Ye-Jin: (taking out the plates) so, what are you doing here exactly?
Ray: (setting up the plates with her) I couldn't reach you and I was dying to know the rest so I called Shin Jay and asked him. He only told me that you went home a few minutes ago. I was at the studio just fooling around with some juniors and hungry so I showed up. And of course my car is still parked in your porch.
Ye-Jin: (taking the bite of the steaming food from her plate) this is good. So how did you come here?
Ray: My manager dropped me off. So tell me, what happened after I left?
Ye-Jin: (nodding) the police came and took the body of the girl into their custody. They then took our statements. Then the media came with their usual bullshit questions. Someone even said that they saw you with us-
Ray: (startled) I shouldn't have given up my disguise.
Ye-Jin: it's fine because they didn't have any proof of it. Moreover they will not dig it in your direction.
Ray: (nodding) So where is Sarang now?
Ye-Jin: She is still at the hospital for now. She needs special care as the mother is dead. We will soon bring her back to our institution or someone would adopt her.
Ray: adopt?
Ye-Jin: yes she is still a young baby; the parents would have an easy time getting attached to her.
Ray: (quietly mulling over the idea) hmm-
Ye-Jin: you are thinking of adopting her.
