Ye-Jin threw her bag on the couch and sat heavily on it after a pretty long and tiring day. Exhausted she threw her head back on the couch closing her eyes. She had almost drifted off to sleep when the knock on her door sounded. At first, she ignored it but the person- whoever it was- one the other side proceeded to knock on the door persisting her to open the damn thing. Groaning she sat up and went to answer her door rubbing her neck.
The person didn't wait for her permission before marching into her small house uninvited and made a line for her fridge. Ye-Jin stood at the door blinking her eyes trying to make sense of the sudden intrusion. She closed the door after herself and followed the person to her kitchen and stood in the doorway folding her hands to the chest mustering up her most annoyed look.
?? : Ye-Jin where have you kept your stash of cookies?
Ye-Jin: (frowning) why are you here Aera?
Aera: (still rummaging around) I felt like visiting you.
Ye-Jin: help yourself; I am going to freshen up.
Aera: (cheerfully) found them!
Ye-Jin came out from her room after half an hour, feeling reborn because of the hot shower she had taken. The fresh clothes helped her mood too. She saw her friend Aera sitting on the couch currently flipping through some channels and nibbling on the cookies with legs thrown on the coffee table. Ignoring her Ye-Jin went to the kitchen to fix supper for herself.
Being alone in a huge city meant taking care of herself without relying on anyone from a pretty young age.
Thankfully her mother visited her every fortnight to look after her. Her parents visit meant that her kitchen was always kept stocked, they made sure that she didn't starve to death by being careless- which she tended to do most of the time.
Ye-Jin: are you staying for supper?
Aera: Nah Ye-Jin, I am going out with some friends.
Ye-Jin nodded even if she knew that Aera wouldn't be able to see her. Her supper for that night's dinner was simple- rice, curry and some other dishes accompanied with milk. When she was almost done with her food Aera came into the kitchen to bid her goodbye.
Aera: Ye-Jin, I am going to go now. Ray texted, telling that he wants to meet me.
Ye-Jin: (nodding) ok.
Aera: (teasing) aren't you interested to know what he wants to talk about?
Ye-Jin: (shrugging) I don't know Aera, you will tell me either way.
Aera: you are boring sometimes.
Ye-Jin: It's just that I am tired tonight besides I am not so close with anyone at your workplace to be interested in them.
Aera: Liar, liar pants on fire! It's 'RAY!' Everyone is interested in him. Also, he has been showing interest in me.
Ye-Jin: (noticing the evil glint in her eyes) Aera, don't do something horrible.
Aera: Ok mom! I will see you tomorrow.
Ye-Jin: good night.
Well, what Aera said was right- everyone was interested in Ray- including herself.
Who wouldn't be- given his handsome looks (with all appropriate adjectives in right places) and his piercing sharp phoenix eyes with slanted eyebrows which for some reason were too gentle to look at.
Well this is a spin-off from the super short-story which I uploaded before.
Anyways there is no absolute need go through it cuz this one is independent from that one except for a few characters.
And yes I am planning to make this story longer with all the cliche twists and all (if possible)..
The updates will be one chapter a day (and more if I have lots of free time)..
After Aera left, Ye-Jin was thrown back to the day when she had first befriended this girl. It was completely from Aera's side that the friendship had started.
Ye-Jin had been a fresher in her college along with Aera. Ye-Jin being an introvert stayed clear of people unless it was important. She had been taking art classes as a hobby.
The college cultural hall had been transformed as an art class that year as there was a remodelling project going on. All different forms of art classes took place at the same place and they used to take two lessons simultaneously.
As anyone can already guess Aera took dance classes and her lessons were taken along with Ye-Jin's art class. The overly cheerful girl had forced her friendship on Ye-Jin who had been sketching on her canvas letting her imagination to take hold of her.
In the beginning, she had been polite but the girl had hanged around her so persistently that gradually she had grown used to her.
Ye-Jin knew Aera wasn't the person to be trusted but she brushed her negative thoughts aside as not to hurt the girl. Whatever her demerits were, Aera had become a good companion to Ye-Jin. She tended to be selfish, hard-headed and cunning at times but that's what made her more precious to Ye-Jin.
These days Aera worked as a backup dancer at the famous entertainment giant Wang. She had befriended the stars there and occasionally dragged a reluctant Ye-Jin to her workplace just to bore her to death.
The first day she had felt like a chicken in the nest of snakes. The people she used to see only on TV were strolling around the huge building as if taking a stroll in the park- of course, it was normal for them.
She almost had had a seizure when her favourite band had shown up in the studio.
She had been sitting on the benches on the sides staring absently at the dancers going through the same routine again and again.
Aera had smirked at her murderous glare when the door had flung open.
The five boys who came in bowed to everyone and everyone bowed back to them. Ye-Jin was paralyzed to the spot with eyes opened widely.
IT WAS 5-EMPERORS!!!!
She had almost killed Aera that day for trying to murder her in cold blood and make her death seem like death by accident.
The more she had visited the place the more relaxed she had felt. Aera being the social butterfly had already gotten to know her favourite band. Ye-Jin had been quite jealous about her but she didn't act upon it ever.
The first few chapters maybe 4-5 will focus on the past so they are mostly descriptive..
Then one fine day Aera had called her and asked her to bring something for her to eat. She had been in the middle of her lunch in another part of town that time but Aera had sounded too tired and sad over the call.
Sighing in resignation Ye-Jin had grabbed some lunch for her friend and driven to her place.
The security knew her from her frequent visits so they let her in. Aera had told her to meet in the practice room on the fifth floor but reaching there she was promptly confused as to where to head next. She had been standing at the mouth of the corridor when
?? : are you lost?
Ye-Jin: (turning around) I t-think so-
She lost her train of thoughts when she saw that it was Ray who was asking her the question.
He was dressed as usual looking like a fresh ray of sunshine (can anyone describe a guy like this?? but Jin imagined it to be so) with variety of clothing blending to give a chic vibe. His hairs were dyed pink which were currently free from any type of styling and lay freely on his forehead.
The most eye-catching feature (apart from his deliciously good looks) were his always gentle eyes. People could simply not understand how a guy could have such piercing yet gentle eyes at the same time.
Ray: (peering at her) you are Aera's friend right?
Ye-Jin: (nodding) I am l-looking for her. She told me to come to the practice room on the fifth floor but-
Ray: (pointing to a room on the far right) It's that fourth door on the right from here.
Ye-Jin: (nodding) t-thank you.
Ray: (halting her progress) I didn't get your name-
Ye-Jin: (not turning around) It's Park Ye-Jin
Ray: Ye-Jin, nice name.
Ye-Jin: thank you.
And she had left him behind in the corridor walking briskly to the direction to which he had pointed, with her heart thundering in her ears.
If what Aera had said was true then she had been flushed to her toes. She had left the place soon enough not wanting to run into any more stars for the day.
The second time she had run into Ray was because Aera had some emergency. The girl had a hangover on a Monday morning. Ye-Jin had been expecting a summons that day because she had been dragged to the club by none other than Aera who wanted to have some quality time. Ye-Jin too was bored so she had agreed but despite her warnings, the girl drank too much.
When the phone call had come Ye-Jin had been unable to recognize the number. She had doubtfully answered it.
Ye-Jin: Hello?
?? : is this Miss Ye-Jin?
Ye-Jin: yes who is this?
?? : Its Ray, I called to ask you the address to Aera's house.
Ye-Jin: (worried) is everything alright?
Ray: She just fainted because of heat-stroke.
Ye-Jin: Oh my! She never listens. I am coming there.
Ray: as you see fit Miss Ye-Jin.
She had reached the place and looked around for a while not sure where Aera was that day when another familiar face had helped her. It was one of the younger trainee boy- who was going to the same place.
She had taken Aera to her place with Ray stubbornly accompanying them. It had then dawned on her that he was attracted to her friend.
She had been mum about it back then but now after almost 2 long months, today when Ray had called her during work asking her opinion on what Aera liked, her doubts had been confirmed. She had given him her honest opinion and wished him luck on his proposal.
