Chapter 1: The Kill
"Quickly, wear your gloves. I don't want our fingerprints to be caught by the CID when they investigate," Ridhwan passed the white surgical gloves to Nurul and they hurriedly put them on.
I was dying slowly. Everything was blurry. All I could hear was Nurul's and Ridhwan's voice. How could they do that to me? How could they kill my parents? Nurul was my only best friend. In fact, she was my only friend.
I should have seen this coming! I should have seen this coming when I got a hunch that they knew that I almost knew the reason for murdering my parents without me telling them! You're too kind, Tasha! You thought that they would feel guilty and repent from everything that they have done. You were wrong!
Ridhwan and Nurul carried my body to the edge of the cliff of Bukit Batok Nature Park. My skin could feel the roughness of the ground, but there was nothing that I could do. I had no strength. I could feel my body freezing with the coldness of the night. I was pretty sure that it was the wee hours.
They pushed me hard until I felt like flying in the air for a moment. My body splashed and sank down straight into the Quarry Pool. My heart was devastated.
The man that I thought could love, protect and defend me turned out to be the man who killed me. The best friend and the only friend that I trusted and relied on turned out to be the one who had been waiting for this moment, so that she could own everything that I had.
As I felt like falling asleep forever, someone pulled my arm from above. I did not know who. All I could feel now was my body slowly feels a change of medium in the environment. From water to land.
"Stay alive, please! Stay alive!" A husky voice murmured as his fingers ran down my wrist to check my pulse. "You have to stay alive. Stay with me!"
