Chapter 75: Kanto League Championship
For the next few days, everybody was getting prepared for the championship and the league was doing everything they can to keep things in order. They started to arrange the matches, Professor Oak made sure that all his apprentices were in a different bracket that way each of them would be able to make their way up until they met each other at the top, that is if they could beat the other gym leaders, apprentices and random trainers on the first day.
Ashes match was first up there was a booth that Professor Oak had obtained in order to get all the trainers that came from his town in one room. Green went and sat next to Liam which surprised him. He asked her whether this was okay and if she didn't want to go sit next to Red. She shook her head and said they were no longer friends and if Red ever stepped it up she won't be mad.
This confused Liam but he honestly didn't care and started to pay attention to the match. Ash was facing a trainer called Scott. Scott was a swimmer and a trainer at the same time, he had been in the league for a while but was never able to challenge the elite four. The fight started as the swimmer sent out a Seaking while Ash sent out his Pikachu.
The battle went on as Pikachu swept through all six of Scott's Pokemons. Ash ended up using Pikachu to knock out all of his water type Pokemons due to the type advantage and the level advantage, 2 of Scott's strongest Pokemons were level 50 while Ash's Pikachu was a high level 75.
The rest of the trainers had won all their matches due to their Pokemons being higher levels than their opponents. Liam had easily won his match by using Dragonite and sweeping through the competition. The gym leaders' apprentices had also won their matches, moving on to the next round where they might be facing off against Professor Oak's team.
That night Professor Oak invited everybody to come and celebrate the victory on the first day. Even though Green did not want to come, she didn't want to disrespect Professor Oak by not showing up so everybody was there including their parents. Liam's mother and Arbok had shown up too. The only person that wasn't there was Gin Oak because he had moved on to a different region before them.
The dinner was going on great, everybody was happy and eating cheerfully Liam was happy to see everybody in one place. Green was acting shy but eventually Red came to say hi to her and after that, they started talking again. Ash was bumping heads with Gary as they kept arguing about who was stronger and that they couldn't wait to face each other in the league.
Gary told Ash not to lose that he wanted to kick his butt but then glared at Liam too and said Liam is his only rival and that he would definitely beat him this time around. Gary has been training extremely hard these past months and can't wait to show off the results of his training.
Everybody was holding back on their first day trying to not reveal the Pokemons that they had. Everybody was surprised that Liam had a Dragonite but didn't think too much into it. While all this was going on Liam was being plotted against by Blaine III, he finally saw who Dragonites trainer was and wanted him dead.
He contacted an assassin in order to do the job for him, this assassin was none other than Kong who tried to assassinate Liam about a year ago but failed. After training hard for a year he was ready to enter the league and challenge the elite four but while he was there he got a call from Blaine the third for a job which paid pretty good and he couldn't resist it but when he heard about who he was supposed to take out he immediately rejected it.
It was impossible for now and maybe he'll be able to do it after he challenges the elite four. The Elite Four were only selecting five trainers to go and challenge them and he wanted to be one of those trainers. Blaine III started to train his Pokemon to get ready for his second match which was against Gary.
Blaine III knew this was going to be a hard match because this was Professor Oak's grandson but he wasn't worried because he had gotten a strong fire type Pokemon to join his team. Elsewhere was Janine from Koga's gym who had come to challenge the elite four also and had won her first match.
When she saw Ash there she started to get butterflies in her stomach and wanted to meet up with him but she didn't get the chance to and thought maybe she would be able to have some fun with him later. After Ash had left her after that time they were together she started to catch feelings for him, but Ash didn't feel the same way and she didn't know that so all she could do was hope that they'd meet up again.
She would tell him how she really felt. The night went on and numerous trainers were either training, sleeping, meditating, or plotting against other trainers in order to get a higher position in the fights the next day. Erica's assistance from the Celadon City gym was representing her and had come to challenge the elite four also, but she had other plans for her next opponent who was a cool trainer.
He was one of the strongest and she knew that she wouldn't be able to be his match, so she sent out her Butterfree to her opponent's room to poison him and when that happened the Trainer was not able to get enough sleep and was in pain all night until the next day. When the battle had started because he couldn't focus he lost that match easily giving this girl the win.
When Erika saw this she was happy for her assistant for winning her second match because she knew that the cool trainer was a higher level trainer than her assistant but she was still able to win which made her happy not knowing that her assistant had used underhanded tactics to win her match.
This assistant's name was Trina and she loved to play with poison which made her mind become very poisonous. She was like a double edge blade. She could be nice to you but at the same time could stab your back while you're not looking.
