Chapter 13: Equipping Oneself (3)

"The town's gate isn't guarded, the desert of desolation is all the protection we need. So I can leave when I want to look for beasts. But first I need to get a weapon. I think I saw a shop selling some on the way."

Leon found the shop and entered. The shop was clearly different to all the other shops nearby as this one looked higher class because of the marble and glass decor.

Leon kept his poker face as he looked at the swords in the display. He shook his head and looked at another one.

A lady who worked at the shop saw Leon. She noticed the Flamesmeith clan uniform he was wearing and knew that he had money, as most customers for the shop were from the Flamesmith clan. "Good, this kid seems like he wants the best and has a good eye of judgment, if I can convince him to buy the <Enchanted Wind Sword> I'll get a raise."

Leon looked at another sword in front of him, and thought, "Made from semi pure Fire steal, refined a hundred times and has the runes <Tier 1> rune <Fire coat> as enhancement. The rune however hasn't completely fused with the weapon. It's just layered on top, So it's effects are only 50% of what they could be. It could barely be called a <Tier 1 runic weapon>." Leon looked at the price of 190 gold.

"I should be able to buy everything else I need, but this sword won't be worth it."

As Leon was about to look at other weapons a lady walked up to him, "Hello sir, do you need any help looking for weapons?"

Leon thought about it and decided to say yes. "Yes, actually I do need help."

Sarah smiled, "Sure Sir, do you have a type of weapon in mind or would you like me to recommend a few."

"I want a weapon that is light and fast, also can I see your highest tier weapon?"

"The highest Tier runic weapon would be this <Tier 2> runic weapon, <Enchanted Wind Sword>." The lady said proudly, "Sir, this weapon is perfect for you, with the <Tier 2> main rune <Swift Wind>, it's the fastest weapon you'll find in town. But it also has a <Tier 1> auxiliary rune <Weightless>, this rune decreases it's weight by 20%, even a baby would end able to hold it."

She went to the side, opened the glass case and took the light green sword out.

"Would Sir like to try holding it?"

Leon nodded, he held the sword up and looked at. He waved the sword around a little and nodded, "It's good, close to what I was looking for. So much is it for?"-

"Sir, it is only for 200 gold! The price is very low, if you buy this from the auction house you would have to pay at least double the price."

"However, there are traces of a failed rune on it, it looks like they weren't completely removed, this disturbs the flow of energy in the weapon. To fix such an error you would need to reforge the weapon."

Sarah looked in shock, "He knows a lot more then I thought." She thought. Seeing that Leon had already taken the sword and was waving it she felt the raise was right around the corner.

"Sir has a good eye, wait let me check with the manager, I'll see if we can negotiate the price." Sarah walked through a door.

Sarah stopped near the door and continued to move her feet as if she was walking she then waited for a minute thinking, "The manager isn't even in town at the moment, before he left he told me to sell it above the price of 160 gold. So I'll try to get him to stay above the price of 180 gold. Just don't make a Loss!" Sarah motivated herself, she patted her cheeks and a confident look, "Let's do this, my raise is here!"

She walked out and smiled, "Sir, we normally don't bargain, but seeing how knowledgeable sir is, I can tell you must be talented in blacksmithing. So how about I lower the price to 190 gold."

Leon nodded, "You could say I know a lot about blacksmithing, but 190 gold is too high, how about 140 gold. The wind stone it's made from should have cost around 10 gold, the craftsmanship is good and can be valued at around 20 gold. The rune engraving of the <Tier 2> rune is around 70 gold and the <Tier 1> rune is around 20."

Sarah had her eyes flash as she thought, "No, how could he know the prices so well."

"Sir, 140 gold is too less, how about 170 gold, we ensure quality, are shop even offers sharpening weapons bought for free for the first week after it's bought."

"Umm... I'll make a lost this time, fine I'll take i-"

Before Leon could finish someone else entered the store. It was a young man around eighteen years old, he had black hair and eyes similar to Leon. He saw Leon in the shop and was surprised.

"Leon, what are you doing here?"

Leon felt the question was a redundant, What could he possibly doing in a weapon shop?

"Cousin Alan, I'm looking for a weapon." Leon answered with a matter of fact tone. He recognised his cousin from his past life.

Alan was surprised by the answer not because it was weird to buy weapons in a weapon shop but it was the person buying.

"Leon, did you get an early birthday present or something? Well, then let your cousin help you choose a weapon."

Alan saw the sword Leon was holding and shook his head, "Cousin that sword is too light, You should buy this one or that one." Alan went around and picked up a heavy black sword and showed it to Leon.

Leon nodded that it was good but he wouldn't be able to carry it with this body without the help of the slaughter qi, "Sorry, Alan, the weapon is too heavy for me."

Miss Sarah at the side who was annoyed by Alan coming in and trying to take her raise away was happy to hear Leon's answer.

Alan looked at the black sword and put it back, "Your right cousin, I'll look for something better, so what's the price range your looking at."

Leon said, "170 gold."

Alan who heard this nodded, "170 gold... 170 GOLD! Did you raid the Clan treasury, how could you have so much money!" The sword he had just picked up was only for 20 gold. Even he only 50 gold, how could his cousin who also had a father that was an elder have so much money!

"I saved up since I was 5 years old, it's not that much-"

Alan completely ignored Leon, "Leon, how about this sword it's really light." Alan started waving a sword around.

Leon smiled as he saw this, he remembered that his cousin was the epitome of a muscle head. He only trained and did it diligently, that was all he focused on, in his past life he had some how become Hans lackey.

"Cousin Alan, I've already cho- wait can I see that sword?" Leon was surprised when he saw Alan slash for the third time.

Alan nodded and gave it to Leon. Leon looked at the rune engraved and was surprised, "A <Soul Slash> rune, it's only <Tier 1> but it's completely combined with the sword. With the ability of <Soul Slash> it's better then everything here."

"I'll take this sword." Leon held the sword, it completely straight with 1.2 meter long dark silver blade. The blade widened near the end, it had a black metallic guard, the gaurd curved slightly towards the blade. The hilt was black leather as well.

Miss Sarah's felt her soul crack a little, "My raise, no my raise..."

"Sir, are you sure you want to buy his sword? I can lower the price for the <Enchanted Wind Sword> to 160 gold. The sword your holding is only a <Tier 1> runic weapon, with only one rune, although skillfully crafted, it still is no where near the level as the <Enchanted Wind Sword>."

"No, I'll be taking this."

The rune <Soul Slash> was enough for him to buy it. It wasn't useful to other people as it was to him. To others it gave them every third slash slightly powered up. This third slash could also allow you to attack non-corporeal beasts. It wasn't anything spectacular, only a <Tier 1> rune.

To Leon the third slash was different, if he didn't give the sword soul energy but rather gave it slaughter qi, the third slash would be much stronger.

"It'll be 90 gold." Sarah said with a sigh.

Leon gave the money and got a sheath for the sword as well. He put the sword in and wore it on his left side since he had the throwing knives on his right side.

"Alan thanks for showing me this sword, now I have some thing else I need to do, So see you later." Leon then left.

He went to a few more stores and bought a few more things. He bought a spatial bag. It was a big black traveling bag. It has a special rune that explained the space inside it. It allowed you to carry around double the amount of volume in the bag. It was a weaker version of a spatial ring. It was for 100 gold while even the cheapest spatial ring was 10,000 gold.

The next thing he bought was a black shirt, black pants and a nodded cape. They all had a rune engraved in them that gave a cooling effect. Since he was going to be looking around the Desert of Desolation for beasts he needed some way to combat the heat. Leon used 50 gold for them.

"Although these won't be enough, it'll do."

Finally Leon bought a pair of shoes. They were a special kind that had the <Tier 1> runes <Weightless> and <Speed>. They cost 40 gold.

Having bought everything Leon stuffed his bag full with everything. He then went back to the Clan. It was already night time. He walked back to the Clan.

Entering the Clan he made his way to his house, along the way he saw Pace coming out of his house, Leon quickly went and stopped him.

"Pace! could you do me a favour!" Leon said as he ran to him. He looked tired as he had walked with a heavy bag all day with his weak body. He hadn't used slaughter qi either.

"Leon, are you okay, your sweating so much, come in and rest." He then went to Leon to help him carry the bag he held. He was surprised by how heavy it was but could still easily carry it. He was even more surprised how Leon could carry it.

Leon didn't decline and went in. Pace's house was a large mansion, it was the biggest house in the surrounding area.

Inside, Pace kept the bag down and went to get some drinks, while Leon sat down.

Pace came back with the drinks, they were ice and wind energy containing drinks. They made the drinker feel cooler and even contained a small trace of soul energy that helped in recovering from tiredness.

Leon drank it in a quick gulp. Seeing this Pace laughed, "Do you want more?" He got up to get the whole bottle.

"Sure, So the favour I wanted, could you keep this bag at your home for the night. I'll take it in the morning."

"Just leave the bag their, you can come and take it tomorrow. Was that it? That's not really even a favour." Pace said.

"Right, my Mon said to invite you for dinner or lunch in a two to three days are you free then?"

"I'll be free three days later, I have to constantly follow around the inferno clan members that are visiting. Right, I need to meet them! Leon, I'll be going help yourself with any of the food in the kitchen. If you leave, theirs a spare key on the table near the entrance, just make sure to lock up, and you can give the key back to me later."

Leon nodded and sent him off. He then went to the kitchen and refilled the glass, the drink was something rather expensive and wasn't something his family could buy all the time. The little amount of soul energy in it helped him recover his severely drained soul energy.

He drank another glass and knew he would vomit of he drank more. Although those three drops had added around a drop of soul energy, it was enough for Leon.

He left the house, locked the door and went back home.
