Chapter 86: Yule Ball
The announcement of the Yule ball left most students in either excitement or nervousness, as they try to find a date, and Edwin wasn't an exception as he didn't know who to ask and it is compulsory for champions to bring a date.
Edwin kept looking around the chamber looking someone to ask to the ball," Fred you find anyone yet" Edwin asked as Fred also didn't have a date to the Yule ball.
"Everyone I ask thinks it's a prank," Fred said shrugging" Now it's just the two of us"
"Two of us what about Theodore and Neville" Edwin shouted knowing that Draco already has a date with Pansy and George already has a date with Angelina.
"Neville asked Ginny and Theodore is going with a Slytherin named Mavis," Fred said looking at Edwin and a smile grew on his face" Edwin would you give me the honor of accompanying you to the Yule ball"
"Fred I can't believe you beat me to it, I was going to ask Edwin," Isabella said looking at Fred with his hand stretched out to Edwin," If you change your mind about going with Fred would you want to go with me?"
"Isabella," Edwin said softly and replied with a smile" I would be more than happy to take you"
"Now it's just me" Fred stated looking at Isabella and Edwin.
"Nope I'm going with you," Daphne said grabbing Fred's hand.
As everyone got a date the only thing remaining to do is wait for the Yule ball, during the month dance classes were being held in each house which Edwin had to attend with Isabella. With Snape being the house head he was there instructing everyone on what to do but he refused to show examples on how to dance.
On the night of the Yule ball Edwin wore his black and green suit like robes as he walked out into the common room to wait for Isabella he saw students leaving with their dates, Edwin sat near Theodore and Draco who was waiting on their dates.
"Edwin," Theodore said showing Edwin Isabella walking out of the girl's dorm, she has on a beautiful light blue dress and her hair was tied up.
Edwin gulped as he saw her "You look beautiful" Edwin stated looking at Isabella.
"Thanks" Isabella replied glancing away from Edwin" You don't look so bad yourself"
As they walked towards the grand hall Daphne who is wearing a red dress walked slowly behind Edwin and Isabell who was walking shoulder to shoulder to.
The Grand hall didn't look like the grand hall anymore with the banquet table replaced with smaller round table for couples and groups, the decorations were more than suited for the ball and with the beautiful snowy night sky that could be seen by looking up gave the grand hall a wondrous look.
Edwin was the last champion to enter the grand hall and soon after Professor McGonagall signaled him that it would soon be time to start the dance as it is custom for the champions to have the first dance with their dates.
When the music started to play Edwin stretched out his hands as if he was asking Isabella for a dance, Isabella received his hand and they walked onto the center of the grand hall, Viktor and Hermione soon followed then Fleur and a Gryffindor that couldn't remember.
With everyone in the center the dance could begin, Edwin pulled Isabella close to him while putting his hand on her waist the two began to dance in the same flow as Viktor and Fleur, with the three of them dancing at the same time it looked similar to a group dance.
Following the customs, Edwin danced while staying close to the center moving together with Isabella" This fun" Edwin stated looking in Isabella's eyes which caused her to look away.
"it is" Isabella replied going closer to Edwin.
Edwin looked at Isabella who was just a couple of centimeters away from hugging him and smile, When the rhythm of the music changed so did the pace of all champions and their dates, from fancy spins to slow dance the champions and their dates was enjoying themselves.
After the first song, the floor was open to whoever wanted to dance, Fred and George escorted each other dates then switched when they were about to dance. Everyone from Theodore to Luna and her date from Beauxbaton made their way to the dance floor.
Soon the dance floor was filled with people dancing, even Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall were together waltzing which influenced more students and teacher to join hand in dance, Hagrid asked Madam Maxime and she accepted the two took up quite a space as they danced to the weird but beautiful melody of the weird sisters the band Dumbledore hired.
But even with the influence of everyone dancing, there were some sticklers like Snape and Igor who were sitting together, unexpectedly Professor Moody was hopping around dancing with Professor Astoria,
As he danced with Isabella Edwin lost track of time but it seems he wasn't the only one as Isabella herself got caught off guard with the announcement that the Yule ball is close to the end" it should last longer "Edwin stated pulling Isabella closer for the last song.
Isabella's face turned red as they danced to the last song, when the Yule ball was over it wasn't Edwin alone who wanted it to go on longer as he overheard Viktor complying as he walked Hermione towards Gryffindor tower.
Since Slytherin's house wasn't too far from the Grand hall it didn't take long to reach," You should have seen Neville" Draco stated entering the common room.
"We all saw" Theodore replied taking a seat near Mavis" he can dance"
"Edwin I had a great time," Isabella said giving Edwin a hug which he returned before going into the girl dorms.
