Chapter 2: Books
She is standing at the door holding a white envelope with gold-colored designs. Staring at the paper, she asked the person who sent it if they really intended to give it to her today.
The messenger, who was kinda startled by her question, pulled a piece of paper from his pocket and gave it to her.
"Ask your Mom before going. If you won't, then I cannot guarantee you about the favor you asked. -Essa"
Yup, they indeed did it intentionally.
She thanked the messenger and closed the door. Reading the envelope again, it says 'Nuptials'.
They're getting married.
Reading the invitation letter while heading towards the kitchen, she accidentally bumped with her mother. Remembering what Essa wrote in the paper, she turned and called her out.
"Mom, can I go out with Essa for a party this weekend? Ruth is going to get married and she wants to celebrate her last days of being single."
Reese asked her mother Rain, who is currently taking a rest after doing some household chores.
Need to be honest if you're going to ask permission... unless you do not want to leave the house for weeks. And need to do this unless I do not want to decline that proposal.
Rain looked up at her daughter and led her to the study. Signalling her to sit down, she took several books from different shelves.
Books were then piled up in front of Reese, blocking her sight.
"Do I really have to finish reading all of these, Mom?"
Rain gave her a warning glare and she then shut up her mouth. She looked at the mountain full of things called books and took one. She started to flip a few pages and read.
"Before the weekend, there will be a test. Take it with your brother."
Her mother then left her in the study and resumed doing the household chores. She stopped reading the book she is holding and turned her gaze towards the other books.
"There are only 3 days before the weekend, and there are approximately 1 5-inches thick old book, 3 2-inches thick books and 10 other sized books... So if I will start reading the history book today, I can at least read 2/3 percent of the book when the day comes..." she murmured and grabbed the thickest book and started reading.
Mom! I already finished studying this in school!
Oh... on the second thought, I did not understood a few things.

In the pitch dark room, she lied and stared at the almost not visible ceiling. She is thinking about the event that is about to happen this weekend, and her friends' current love life and their situations.
Ruth already had Paul... and they are going to get married. Steph also have Ken but they are always a bit wishy washy and maybe the thought about marriage did not appear in their minds yet. Dreia... already have Ron but they are again trying to make their relationship stable.
Essa, Nicx and Christal still have idols as their love in the entertainment industry, but Nicx always get sad everytime her favorite bias that died years ago is brought up. Life is short, but their glory days is not forgotten by these kind of fans. Ria is still Ria, and she has her other circle of friends but she is still invited this weekend. Of course, Paul won't forget our leader, unless he wants to have war. Yash is kinda not close with me but she's still easy going and funny as always. Nicka... is making a distance between us friends because of misunderstandings.
Weekend, please come quickly...
...wait.
Please do not come quickly! I haven't finished reading the books yet!
And she ran towards the study to resume reading, forgetting to even take a few minutes of shut eye...
