Chapter 6: APPEARANCE OF PROPHETHOOD SIGNS-2
One day Muhammed sallalahu alaihiwasallam [saw] was busy in worshipping Allah as usual. It was the month of ramadhan an angel sent by Allah appeared before him. This angel was jibra'eel [peace be upon him] and he appeared before Muhammed [saw] and asked the prophet to "read". prophet Muhammed [saw] replied, I cant read I am illiterate".
Hearing this jibra'eel started pressing the prophet hard so much that he got tired, then loosened his grip and said to prophet again,"read" the prophet Muhammed [saw] again repeated I cant read, lam illiterate and again jibra'eel pressed him and again loosed his grip and asked him to "read",but the prophet replied the same reply
Now the angel pressed him again and loosened his grip and he asked the prophet to say:
"read ! In the name of your lord who created;
Created man from a tiny clot,clinging[to its mother]
Read! And your lord is most generous,
Who taught by the pen,
Taught man what he did not know."{96:1-5}
This was the first revelation.then prophet Muhammed [saw] came back to his home,having a trembling heart. He asked Khadijah, "wrap me in a blanket, wrap me in a blanket."she wrapped him in a blanket.
When prophet Muhammed [saw] was calm, he told Khadijah what had happened in the cave, he further added, "my life is in danger".
Khadijah solaced him and said, no! Never, there's no threat to your life, Allah will not disgrace you, you take care of your relatives, load yourself with the burden of others, help destitute and feed them, entertain the travellers, you suffer on behalf of others for the sake of justice".
After these pacifications she took him to the Waraqah Ibn Naufal, an elderly Christian priest who read Torah Khalid narrated to him the whole incident of the cave.
Hearing this, Waraqah said, "this was the angel who knows the hidden secret and who used to bring messages for Moses also. I wish that I would be alive when your people would banish you."
The prophet Muhammed [saw] asked, "will my people force me to leave my homeland?"
Waraqah said, "yes, what you have brought was brought by several other messengers too before you, but all of them had been targeted by their people. If I remained alive till that time, I would help you."
But Waraqah dies after sometime.
Prophet Muhammed [saw] continued visiting cave hira and pray there and there was no more visits from jibra'eel. Six months passed after the first revelation, the gap helped the prophet Muhammed [saw] to overcome the effect of the first experience. Now, the prophet Muhammed [saw] was curiously waiting for the descending of the second revelations.
