Chapter 12: Chapter 12 Heroes and Villians

Auren watched as Logan's previous life played out like a movie. He watched as Logan's young childhood played in front of him, he watched as he played with kids his age, being rowdy and rambunctious, not listening to anyone. Watched him grow in to his early teens, he watched as he became socially disjointed from the people he once knew. He watched as he grew in to adult-hood, got a meaningless job, and wasted his life away in front of a screen. Soon, he found love, grew happy, and married. Then horror, a sickness took over his wife as she was pregnant, she miscarried, they were sad, but hopeful for the future. A small scale conflict broke out and he was drafted in to a fight he never wanted. As the fight raged on, he meet comrades-in-arms, people he could trust, and soon they became family. They comforted him when he got the news of his wife's death, they watched as the man they once knew became a shell of himself. They watched him leave, at the funeral, he never cried for his wife, his will, broken beyond repair; he watched as he wallowed in despair. Soon the broken man returned to the battlefield. He chose to fight, to live on, not for him, but for her, his light.

Upon his return, his squad welcomed him back. They saw how he changed, but the light in his eyes that once faded, returned and was stronger than before. A light that scared them.

Brother1: "Logan what changed?"

Logan: "I remembered what she said to me once. 'When my time comes, don't morn for me, live your life for those you care about, protect those you hold dear. And when you take the plunge, will you step, or leap? And once you do, tell yourself to make it count.' When i make a promise, I intend to keep it."

Auren watched in awe, he came back for his Friends. Than the awe soon turned into shock. Auren watched as Logan's once comrades, turned to violent monsters who pillaged villages for fun. His superiors did nothing to stop it, soon Logan was reassigned to solo reconnaissance missions. Almost all of his missions were nothing but scouting small villages with no value. Fed up, Logan started piecing together what was happening, this lead him into sneaking into the command tent during the night. What he found caused all the pieces to fit. A massive oil field several miles wide and deep, enough to make any man rich for centuries. As he continued searching, he found more, gold, jade, uranium, and much more. Logan found plans for warheads of nukes, car bombs, high profile assassinations. Everything for a war to start, all because of greed.

???1: "Well, well, well, what do we have here?"

???2: "A rat, I would say. Allow me to take care of it."

*Bang* *Bang* *Bang*

Auren thought that's how Logan Barrett died, by the hands of others. What happened next, Auren did not expect. Logan opened his eyes once again, Found he had been dumped in a mass grave of innocent men, women, and children. Voices then echoed in his head; 'When you take the plunge, will you step, or leap? I rather live for something than die for nothing. You ether die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain'. His family's mottoes, his wife's, all started flooding his mind. A laugh escaped his lips, soon a smile appeared on them

Logan: "What do you know... Gramps was right, If you don't die a hero, you live long enough to become the villain."

Logan got up and started walking. Soon were he went became a warpath. No matter were, blood, bodies, and violence fallowed him. Auren watched as he became the villain, waged war, and found those responsible. Than finally die a unsung hero, his life finally faded, a soldier to the end.

Auren: "He was no man, but a daemon, something people become, but most of all, he retained his humanity. What a frightening man he once was."

???: "Yet he still is. His mind may have forgotten his past, but his body remembers it still."

Auren turned around to find a man in strange clothes and an odder mask. Auren panicked, he didn't know who this man was, yet he seemed familiar somehow. Auren was on guard, for what he did not know.

Statera: "I'm Statera, a god. You need not fear me, for I cannot do anything as you and Logan are one soul now. I am here to tell you not to tell Logan of what you saw. Not yet at lease, for he is far to young and vulnerable."

Auren: "Why? His mind is already that of an young adult at 11, his chooses, his attitude, and how he treats others is beyond any kid. Why wait?"

Statera: "If he were to learn now, will effect the out come of his life. He might not have a pleasant reaction to the memories, he might do something rash. We, the ones that sent him here, wish for him to live his life the way he wants."

Auren: "We? I'm guessing other gods, but why send him here? What did he do that caught the attention of gods?"

Statera: "Contrary to popular belief, we gods are not omnipotent. There are as many gods as is there worlds. For him, he achieved something all gods wish for, everlasting peace. For a reason we have yet to understand, he achieved that in his previous world as a mortal. It has be come a world that us gods can descend with full power, and we can not break that peace. A feat only he has achieved, his reward was to be a peaceful life without his memories, but something drew his soul here. We gods have our hands full trying to find out why. And sinse I was the one who found him, I was given the job of watching over him."

Auren: "What about the Light and Dark gods here? What of them?"

Statera: "There are three main steps of godhood. Minor, Mid, and Complete. They are minor, they cannot sense or interfere with us. They will be no problem."

Auren: "If what you say is true, what now that I know of his past? Will you erase me?"

Statera: "No, your and his soul are fused. I will merely watch you and him for the days to come. For now do not mention me or his past. he will soon come here to train, teach him some simple magic, for his semblance and magic are intertwined. For we can only watch as his life plays out."

Statera left, fading from this plain. Auren felt that every word he said was true. Logan was brought here for some reason even gods don't know. Statera was right, Auren and him can only watch him grow. Soon; Auren thought; this world will change, how? I do not know.

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
Hawkin Hawkin

Logan Barrett's life before.

The volume will end on 15 or 16, I might do a Q&A chapter to try to answer all questions you may have.

I may or may not do any Signal academy, I don't know, this has gone farther than I had planed.
