Chapter 23: I'm sorry...

As she panted from the short run to the table. The flute section leader, smiled brightly and apologized for the wait. She only just began looking for the first person in line's paper with their name, locker number and combination, when a agitated director walked towards her. He didn't say anything to her because that would only waste more time. He simply stood next to her, and helped her pass out the drill cards. Sure he shot angry glances at her, but he was making himself useful while pressing her to work fast and efficiently. She saw someone run into the street and almost get hit at some point, but didn't pay much attention to it. With only fifteen minutes till practice was supposed to begin, she handed the last of the slips of papers, and surprisingly perfect attendance. She sighed and leaned on the table. The director looked at her and asked why she was late in the first place. She explained that she got stuck in a practice room and apologized for missing the meeting. The director sighed and looked down shaking his head. He instructed her to put the table in the store closet that connects the colour guard lockers to the main band hall.
