Chapter 24: “OUR KIDS WOULD NOT ONLY BE CUTE…..”

A cute little girl was sitting at the dining table and enjoying her food. With her sat a beautiful lady who was as stunning as the morning sun and her expression as gentle as the breeze. She was smiling at the girl, "How's it, sweetie?"

"Just like you, mother… Sweet and soft." The little girl giggled as she continued to eat her fill.

Slowly this scene faded away and Jessica woke up from her sweet dream. It had been long since she dreamy of her. She sat up and sensed a very familiar scent around. It was as if she was living the dream.

She got up and rushed to her kitchen. Seeing the man bustling around the kitchen she turned gloomy for a while but soon smiled as she leaned on the door frame. She looked at the man wearing a girly pink apron over his spotless white shirt. His sleeves were rolled over. His fine muscles were visible with every move he made. This made her blush as her cheeks turned in a shade of pink. She retreated her gaze and walked in.

She looked eagerly at the things on the stove just like a kid inspecting his new toys. Steve observed her every movement- the way she opened the lids to check the contents and the way her eyes sparkled with joy. A natural smile plastered on his face. His blue eyes held the loving and gentle look as if the girl in front of him was so fragile that she would break if he gave her a stern look. And he could not bear to do any harm to her.

"Did you cook all this?" Jessica approached him with a happy face.

"Yup, do you like it, sweetie?" He asked as he subconsciously pinched her cheeks. She looked extremely cute as a cute little kitten.

Suddenly a thought passed his mind, 'Will our children also be this cute… That would be great. Yeah'

Seeing his absentmindedness Jessica waved a hand in front of his eyes, "hey! I am talking to you?"

"Yes, our kids would be cute." He said his thought out and he instantly regretted it. He covered his mouth with his hands staring dumbstruck at Jessica.

"I was talking about food not kids, idiot," Jessica said chuckling as she moved to the stove and placed the roasted beef in the plates she had taken down earlier. She had a smile on her face, 'of course our kids would be cute and stunning.' She let out a giggle at her own thoughts. They were not yet married and she thought of their kids.

She again turned around and started setting up the dining table ignoring the man who was looking at her very intensely.

Steve was dumbfounded when he did not receive any scolding instead she laughed and served the food. 'Is she not angry… This means she is happy with our marriage. Last time I agreed to her request so she could make herself comfortable around me… Now I can woo her and soon get married to her. I want to tell her that I fell in love with her at first sight… I am going to get married… Yes…'

Steve had fallen in love with her beauty when he saw her picture and he fell for her more on their first meeting and his love grew with each time they met. He was still in a daze when Jessica called him to eat.

He went and sat next to the girl who had already settled down. She opened the drawer and took out the remote control. Steve looked at every one of her actions looking surprised and he was more surprised when she switched on the cartoon channels. And to his more surprise, her T.V contained a majority of cartoons.

"I like watching them, I hope you don't mind… And even if you do I am still gonna watch this." She said playfully as she picked her fork and knife to try the steak. Steve too sat down and ate his food occasionally looking at the girl and the screen.

On the first bite of the beef Jessica was surprised. The taste was to the point similar to her mother's.

"Where did you learn to cook?" She asked with surprise. She had tried every world-class chef's dishes but would end up vomiting all out. This was the first time she ate the food cooked by someone else without any discomfort.

"My mom taught me when I moved out to my house and refused to hire a cook," Steve said as he looked at the screen and his mind was flooded with his childhood memories. He smiled and looked at Jessica who was gobbling the food like a hungry child.

*Cough*cough*

Due to eating very quickly, she choked on her food and Steve panicked as he grabbed a glass of water and passed it to her before scolding, "WHAT ARE YOU UP TO? What if something happened? Eat slowly the food's not gonna run away."

Jessica looked at him her eyes filled with tears because of all that coughing. This time she was not afraid yet angry and shouted back at him, "I JUST LIKE IT. WHAT IF IT REALLY GOES AWAY?"

Steve was taken aback and bend down to her hugging her lightly, "I just don't wanna lose you." He said in a coy voice.

"I also don't wanna lose you, stupid. You are special to me. And yes our kids will not be only cute but also stunning." She said with a pout on her face as she was being hugged closely by Steve.

They both looked at each other and laughed before resuming their dinner and again ended up laughing seeing the silly cartoon. Maybe sometimes with just a silly gesture or remake, we can make people smile and forget their worries, so it is worth it.

After dinner, Jessica washed the plates and Steve sat on the balcony talking to someone on the phone. Soon after Steve left for home and Jessica picked her phone and called a 'person'. After giving a few instructions she laid down on her sofa watching cartoons and soon fell asleep.
