Chapter 55: Chapter 52 survivors, Cultists that fucked up

In a place that looked like a tornado had passed through and destroyed everything, a scorched figure pushed away from the debris that covered the person before yelling out with a dry and hoarse voice.

"Who else is still alive? Sound off!"

The speaker was a man that had lizardman scales and ogre-like features along his face and body.

His body had been struck by lightning-charred skin, and flesh covered his upper body as his grafted parts worked fast to help him recover.

The man was Hougan left in a pit that had long lost the molten surface caused by consecutive strikes of lightning in one spot until halfway up his thighs had melted due to the sheer temperature that the lightning reached, any metallic object that he carried had been reduced to chunks of metal that mixed with the ground.

With no answer to his orders and call, a terrible thought came to mind.

Was he the only remaining survivor?

But such thoughts were quickly destroyed as arms covered in soot emerged from the ground some distance away from him.

As familiar voices replied.

"Ugh! *phew* still kicking over here!"

"Don't count me out just yet~."

"Where's Duke at? if he's dead, I can finally take his wife!"

"What did you say!? Are you looking to die, Guirgol!?"

"Ha, yeah, that works every time with that bastard!"

Out of their group, including Hougan, only six remained.

Their injuries were heavy yet manageable due to the monsters that were grafted into their bodies.

"Does Anyone have an idea of what that strange undead-looking monster was?"

The group fell silent at the question before Duke replied.

"No, But I will certainly collect its head for our fallen!"

However, Guirgol decided to poke at the man as he wiped off the soot on his face exposing the two now broken tusks with bluish skin.

He had troll organs grafted into his body.

"Duke, you should really rethink that idea of yours."

The man in question frowned as his large frame was being remade thanks to the vitality of an orc and ogre combined before asking with a low growl.

"Oh? and why is that?"

"You can barely handle our second in command in hand-to-hand combat.

What makes you think that you can handle something that is on par with our leader, or possibly stronger, who is, by the way, more than two times stronger than you?"

"Guirgol, you are really asking for a beating, aren't you?"

The orc ogre hybrid got to his feet and was already making his way to Guirgol while giving his arm a good stretch before swinging his fist at the troll hybrid.

However, the troll easily caught that punch before adding in a jabbing tone while delivering a headbutt to Duke's face.

"Yeah, you can do that WHEN we get back home, we need to, first, stay alive to do such things."

Hougan sighed both in relief and sorrow, fourteen good men were now dead, and there was nothing to bring back to their families that awaited their return.

Guirgol and Duke were mostly healed and were having a fistfight.

With their regenerative abilities on par with one another, this would be a never-ending scene.

Thus the leader called out to them to break it up.

"Alright, you damned idiots! that's enough!"

Duke stopped almost immediately while Guirgol, who always liked to press the orc/ogre hybrid's buttons, threw a couple more cheap shots before running to their boss under the pretext 'to check on him.'

While Duke growled a bit, the hybrid restrained himself and began looking around for ANYTHING that could be brought back with them, especially when one of them was his brother-in-law, but the following words of their leader made his shoulders slump down in sadness.

"Whatever that attack was, it had burned, everything that wasn't able to withstand it into ashes or molten metal that now mixed with the earth, sorry boys, but we'll have to leave this area just in case that same attack happens again!"

Hougan wasn't sure what that attack was.

Still, his experience helped him understand that more than likely, it was the champions again, meaning that whatever it was could be used again, and there was no way that he was going to lose all of his people for being in a danger zone!

While that strange creature worried him quite a bit, it was better to leave this area before that creature suddenly returns, or another one of those attacks caused by the champions would more than likely wipe them out this time.

What he didn't know was that they were at the wrong place at the wrong time, but due to the number of enemies that their kingdom had, that thought never came to mind, and being a soldier for a long time instilled the standard action done to fallen enemies that were a threat.

Coming back to finish the job.

That was what he feared might happen while there was no evidence Hougan was a man of action; thus, he and his men reluctantly left the area with haste as they moved in the direction of the beast kingdom.

-----------------

In the distance, tens of miles away from the area that got hit with a weather storm device and nearly a dozen nukes nearby, the so-called strange beast fiercely chased after the injured demon that was flying oddly despite missing three limbs!

Two figures flew forward at incredible speeds above the tree line, wearing tightened leather armor that covered their bodies completely. One of them was a male who was currently carrying a half-dead demon with his telekinesis while his female partner, who wore a similar outfit, was panting heavily from how long they were doing this.

"how much longer until we reach the next demon kingdom?"

They took turns carrying the demon to a destination, as Hammer fist looked like a giant lizard, which was the size of a truck that had been mutilated charged after the floating demon uncaring for the trees or boulders that blocked its path.

Both would get crushed by him breaking through them like nothing!

But the psychics failed to notice another group wearing clothes and armor that oozed Gothic themes farther along the direction they were headed.

------------

"We have found the heretics!"

One of the scouts from the church of Idyll looked at the two psychics were a mixture of venomous hatred and jealousy!

Their god has never once basked his followers with his presence, nor did they ever get a chance to hear a single word since the creation of Idyll's church Yet the two pagans of a different religion had been blessed with such a chance to even lay eyes on that other god, no that was a fake, a trickster!

That helped the scout calm down a bit while the rest of the people with him were getting ready, all of them dressed in light leather armor more than ready to offer their very lives to fulfill the commands of their church to prove just how faithful they were to their lord and savior!

This group was part of a company that worked in the shadows, their job this time was to eliminate all of the pagans that were spreading the words of a false god, as half of the troops drew their bows knocked their arrows into place before preparing to fire.

Their auras quickly fused with the arrows that gained a glow similar to embers waiting to start a flame.

every single one of them was a peak of the 7th tier aura user, their blind faith and belief in Idyll's church allowed them to elevate themselves to this height of power, as for the cost that they paid, none of them would ever reach past their current power in this lifetime.

But none of them cared about that, that was also one of the reasons why they were able to join this group that worked behind the scenes, they had to be at least 5th tier in strength and had no interest in materialistic things, the soldiers were simply arrows that were sent to one direction and quickly discarded as soon as they used up all that they had.

That was a common practice done by the church yet these loyal soldiers weren't affected by how things are done, as to them that was their sole purpose in life.

"FIRE!"

One word was heard before the pair of psychics fell under the rain of arrows, as the attackers didn't just fire once or twice, they fired five volleys of arrows to show how much disgust they held towards the heretics.

The uncontrollable Hammer fist quickly slaughtered the demon that was no longer being carried by the, now dead, psychics and made his way towards the nearest area that made his curse fluctuate all while ignoring the group that killed his former allies.

Mikhail, who was in his room, was watching this scene with a stoic look through the psychic radar but the items around him began to tremble from the emotion that was surging forth yet would stop at a certain point.

His eyes narrowed while looking at the collection of soldiers that were keen on slaughtering all of his people.

"Looks like I'll get a chance to try out my avatar."

His tone was viciously cold as the two psychics were unable to complete the tasks assigned to them and lost a valuable subject for him to research on.

Originally he was going to leave them be, but their actions proved them to be a pest, that needed to be culled, if they are not taken care of, their actions would not only affect Eve's operations but would also affect future research materials that needed to be done as soon as possible

He walked to his personal life pod that was recently created to support what will happen next.

While using the avatar it required his full attention as it was practically a copy of him both in genes and abilities!

Thus his body will be left out in the open immobile which can be dangerous for long periods of time!

Upon entering the life pod that would protect him from everything, a different pod emerged from his floor that opened up it held a child that looked younger than Mikhail that had similar looks.

This was one of his avatars, already wearing a skin suit that could cover its whole body and protect it from any attacks as long as it had enough psychic energy to do so.

The power it held could help it decimate hundreds of fifth-tier Aura users, with a mind that held countless schemes and a body with other abilities any aura user below the 8th tier would find it troubling to challenge Mikhail's avatar.

But there was one annoying problem about this avatar, Gamma added her gene into it during its creation causing the gender to be female.

Because to Gamma, this was practically their child from doing so and this wasn't the one he was trying to use, thus after moving the avatar back into its pod the psychic moved his consciousness to the other avatar that was built for battle.

In a way, you could say that this was his masterpiece, with Hammer fist's full regen mode activated rendering this body unkillable through normal means, with a height of 6'7" and the brute gene being the primary power, this was something that Mikhail created to cover the weaknesses of his current body.

It also had a few incredible tricks up its sleeves, something that was originally impossible to have, but for now, that will remain hidden until he slaughters the damned cultists that didn't understand the consequences of their actions!
