Justified Murder

"Fighting?" I gave out an unnoticed grin "Is this what this is now?"

"Not necessary, but this is the way to keep you safe from those monsters."

"You are the monster!" I screamed out the words, hurt from her actions.

A monster. It was the first thing I said to Toriel, and it will be my last time saying it to anymore within the Underground. It was a broken analogy, as monsters around here are just normal people, living their lives as human beings, not as savages who would tear the world in pieces. However, I can see tears rolling down her eyes. She was hurt based on the words I used, any my appreciation my calling her something that is not and never be her. I wondered to myself. Toriel could be right. If I couldn't handle that demon back as the Ruins, then how would I expect to survive beyond the Ruins? It's like a tutorial area for me to practice my dodge, attack and strategy, but I never know what could be out there. For all I know, there could be mostly monsters who doesn't care about me at all, and wants to kill me for my soul.

"What. Did. You. Just. Say?" Toriel said slowly. It was chaos at this point.

The room turns black. There was only darkness, and darkness, swallowing the ground and Ruins. Toriel has went completely crazy, and it was impossible to stop that madness she has. There was only one thing certain that I have to do, even though I know it's not going to be effective, to talk and convince Toriel to let me out of this place. Suddenly, a fireball appeared amongst the darkness, and managed to hit me in the back. It burned, as if a volcano erupted right beside my back. I felt like I was dying. I fell down, groaning for help. A laugh echoed across my mind.

"I knew you couldn't survive without me."

I managed to crack a laughter. "So, you came back to see me die?"

"No, I came to help you. To help you find your true nature."

It was the ghost again. I did defeat it once, but by a lucky way, and the button that is still in my pocket. The button! I quickly reached into the pocket and pressed the button. Nothing happened. The pain grew within me, as if I was being stabbed continuously. It was over for me, but the ghost sat right beside me, while I'm laying down, grinning my teeth.

"You are too weak. You don't have enough power. That's why you are so easy to be killed." The ghost disappointedly said.

"You know what… I would… rather be weak… than to kill innocents… to achieve my goals." I quietly said, and passed out.

That was it, I died. Just because I refused to be kept by Toriel, I had to suffer the flames of the Queen. I woke up, and there was light again, shining into my eyes like the sun shining into my face when I was at home. I laid down on the ground, looking above the never-ending light, thinking about what the ghost said. Power is something everyone wants to have, even when there's a tiny bit of it. It defines you in the social class, whether you are worth in a society or not. The world these days uses power as a way to prove their dominance towards the people, applying fear to the people. Toriel was one of that kind, using passive behavior to persuade enemies, then attack them when they least expect it. I thought that by playing cool with Toriel, she could easily let me through that gate and allow me to explore beyond that gate, but things didn't go according to plan.

"What happened here, partner?" The ghost echoed through my mind

"Huh?" I snapped out of my chain of thoughts.

"Hm… whatever. So how was your first death?"

"Nothing really. But, there is something I really need to do."

"What is it, trying to kill me?"

"No, absolutely not. In fact, I kinda need your help here. I was thinking about it for a while, and I realized I need to learn self defense. Please teach me the ways to survive and attack, you know?

"Attack? Ha! Who are you trying to kill?"

"Of course no one, I just want to learn self defense!" I lied.

"That's a lie," It just read my mind like a book. "But I'll help you, but under one condition." The ghost

firmly said.

"Ok, what is it now? Killing people for power?" I joked.

"More than that, I need your determination for my resurrection."

"Resurrection? Bring you back to life?" I questioned

"Well, it's complicated, but all I need is a small fragment of determination from you."

"Uh, ok I guess? I don't know why determination would be such a problem?"

"Sweet! Now, forget all about the conflicts we have earlier, because you just got a new friend!"

A friend. The only friend I really have so far. Suddenly, these flashbacks came back, about how the ghost could be planning it's revenge on the Underground. My awareness came running back, and quickly I said:

"Aren't you going to plot like a revenge or something?"

The ghost looked at me, with that disappointingly face that gives out a hopeless look "Do I look like a person to plan on a revenge?" Being a smart mouth as I am, I proudly said: "Uh… yeah, you know, with that random request about resurrection."

"Well guess what," The ghost raised its voice, "I am not going to plot a revenge plot or anything!"

"Whatever, fine, I trust you," I said with a tiring voice "Now can we learn how to fight?"

The ghost smiled, and started to talk to me about the basics of survival, and attack strategy. It was an expert at attacking, with unreasonable combinations, and tactical attack strategies. I was impressed with the ghost's attacking skills. It made attacking looks easy, but when I tried, it was a nightmare. I tried combining attacks that I learned very badly, and it was a total disaster. It was pretty difficult to think on the battlefield, especially when you are in a rush, or a direct attack. I outwitted the ghost before by luck and a little bit of knowledge, but it helps me to plan where I could attacks, and build up my attack starts. It took awhile for me to understand attacking well, but I had it down in around a day or so. I was a pretty fast learner, since I would always be the top students when I was in school. Wonder how the surface feels about me, probably don't even care for me, I suppose.

"Hey!" The ghost greeted me like a friend of his.

"Hello there." I greeted, and eagerly asks it about the next thing it's going to teach me. "So, what am I learning today, ghost?"

"Ah, today? We are going to fight each other to see each other skills."

"Fighting against a lord like you? I'm not gonna win you." I said with fear in my voice. I wasn't ready to fight against a good fighter when I'm barely a new person. I still accepted the challenge either ways. The ghost humbly announce:

"Rules are pretty straight forward: don't be scared to fight, and the first one to knoch the other one wins. Used to be my game right here."

"Used to? You use to beat up your goat friend here?"

"Goat friend?" The ghost suddenly stopped as I reminded it about its actual background and the story about it and that goat family. It did looked sad and depressed, but I managed to calm it down, before the situation could go a lot worse.

"Reminds me of Azzy. Asriel to be exact, but how did you know?"

"Yeah, it's not that difficult or to figure out. Toriel told me everything, but I still don't buy it? You think she ought to hide something from me?"

"Her? I really don't know, but I don't think she lies that much."

"Maybe you are right" I said with a suspicious voice "Maybe."

"Yeah, let's forget about all this sorry business and let's fight each other! I'm overhyped right now!" The ghost's mood cherished.

"Ok, if that's what is going to make you happier, so be it then!" I happily replied

It felt like I was 8, with all the good times with my friends along the riversides near my granddad's house, playing whatever we could think of, including the stupid ones also. It was a good moment, until Dad decided that it's best to move up to the city and make more profit there. My grandfather did tried to convince him to not go, yet he went anyways. He didn't care about anyone, or anything in general. Some good old times that was.

The ghost led me to a wrecked training ground, with a broken dummy near the riversides and everything. It looked pretty cool around here, but it felt like a forgotten part of the Ruins.

"Ok! So you remember the rules right?" The ghost excitingly said

"Yup!" I said, trying to sound eagerly wanting to pick a fight with him, but I really didn't. I was barely prepared, and I never fought in my life, ever. I couldn't find a purpose to why I should fight, besides self protection. There is no point in fighting when you could just accept things the friendly way.

"Bet! Let's get this easy win for me!" It said with an immense amount of confidence.

The ghost leaped forward me right away, trying to push me down, but I dodged it. I grabbed it by the hand, and threw it back. It flinches, giving an open window to attack it. I dashed toward the ghost, trying to strike the ghost with my knife.

"Nice play there, but that's not enough to bring me down!"

"Oh really?" I gave out a sarcastic tone, and took a jump. A mist surrounds my area, blinding me from its movements. I closed my eyes, and parry the incoming knife behind me. Listening is crucial to me, as it helps me to focus even more, and gives me an insight of where the enemy is. I turned around, and throw my knife into the dark mist. I heard a silent groan, and knew that I hit the target.

"You going to stop hiding in the dark?"

No replies, but the mist did disappeared, along with my energy. I took a deep breath, trying to recharge my stamina. Out of nowhere, a firm hand similar to Toriel pushed me against my back, almost making me fall.

"Who was the hell was that!" I yelled with anger.

"You really don't know me, how rude!"

It was the flower again, but it wasn't hands that pushed me, it was the roots of the flower that pushed me. They were as sharp as those prickly thorns you would see in some rose buds, or cactus. I stood there with confusion, wondering how that didn't harm me.

"So, what do you want, flower?" I asked

"Nothing really, just roaming around."

"Roaming around like that?" I started teasing him "Walking with those flexible roots?"

"Yes, but I don't think trash talking was necessary. Besides, I can just kill you if I really want to, so be careful."

There is no possible way that flower can beat me, with these improvements I have made over my time in practice. "Ain't no way you can win against me!" I boasted.

"Really?" Flowey wondered to himself. "We'll test it out later, but I'm here to talk to you."

"About what now? Killed or be killed philosophy?" I mumbled.

"No, it's about your motives right now. I was concerned about the death that Toriel gave you."

Flowey remarked it so it sounded like a failure "It was brutal, wasn't it? Not typical that she would do that."

"Yeah, and it's really getting on my nerves. Her deceptions and lies are twisting people."

"Exactly! And I think we have a solution for it. Murder."

Murder? Isn't that too aggressive? Well, maybe Toriel did kinda killed me, but I don't think she meant it. Besides, it was just a test, and I failed it. I looked at Flowey with a disbelief look "No, I don't think it's the way, not yet at least.". He grinned back. "No! That is the way, don't you get it? She is too dangerous!". Toriel isn't dangerous. She is just confused, and sometimes she can take things the other way around.

"Damn it Flowey," I said angrily. "This is not the way, I can't kill someone without a reason for so. And it's just wrong."

"You know, there are rules out there, but do you see everyone obeying it?"

"No, but why does it matter?"

"Hmph. The point is, that rules are meant to be broken. You are more than just a sandbag. I know it." Flowey tried cheering me up.

"Urgh… I really don't feel like doing it. It's too hard."

"Then allow me to help you to overcome your struggles!"

I took a deep sigh. Maybe she did deserve to die somehow, because she did kill me, and twisted me with her lies. I am after all, the child of the prophecy as they say it. By killing one, it shouldn't affect too much.

Or not kill her at all, and forgive her. My choices matter after all, right? And killing is wrong too, so maybe I shouldn't kill, right?

I can't just let a liar roam around this Earth and causing the same mischiefs that she caused me.

Maybe killing her is the right path towards peace, to the restoration of the Underground.

I clenched my fists together. Sweat dripped down on my face.

Toriel's death will serve justice for what she did to me, as revenge.

I gave out a loud, monster like laugh. This was going to be serious. For real this time.
