Chapter 3: Half-Blood
The place seemed relatively normal. There were a few girls whispering in the distance but as soon as I looked their way they hurried away. I noticed that they also were wearing Camp Half-Blood t-shirts. I looked around and the place did kinda look like a camp but what was a half-blood? I didn't really get a chance to look at my surroundings as I kept my head down most of the time. If Chiron hadn't stopped me I would have walked right into the gate, and that would have been very embarrassing. As soon as I looked up, I realised why it was called the Big House. The camp headquarters had to be big. Anyways it didn't look that threatening, it was only four storeys. Although it looked like it was ready to swallow me. Chiron gestured for me to follow him.. so I did. I didn't want to, it didn't feel right, but I did. The living room was pretty ordinary so that was good. This place was starting to freak me out. I sat down on one sofa next to Jason, with Percy and Nico on the other. They seemed to be shooting each other dirty looks as if they'd just had an argument. I wonder what it would've been about... actually, no, I don't wanna know. Part of me was hoping to get answers but the other part was scared. What if I don't like the answers? Maybe this whole thing was a bad idea, I should have left when I had the chance. Well, I couldn't really back out now. Chiron started the conversation.
"So Max, do you remember anything? About who you are, or where you are? Can you tell me what this place is?"
I shook my head, though for some reason I kept my head down. I couldn't bring myself to look Chiron in the eyes.
"Do you at least know how you got here?" Chiron asked. I explained to him and the guys how I woke up in the woods with a knife in my stomach, I also told them about my dream and the 'forgotten.' I also didn't forget to mention the creepy voice. That seemed to trouble Chiron. "You wouldn't know your godly parent then would you?"
"My what?" I asked. Then Jason decided to join the conversation.
"He's a child of Zeus." A child of who? How is it these people know more about me than I do? What is happening?
"I had a dream," Jason continued. Ok, that might explain how they all knew my name but what is a 'godly parent'? I don't know what they're on about!! Jason continued to explain his dream about how I was flying and summoning lightning. Ok now I knew he was kidding. This sounded like something out of a fairy tale.
"No he's a child of Poseidon," Percy protested. Percy and Nico has been so quiet I had completely forgotten they were there.
"I had a dream too, but he was summoning waves and made a tsunami." Was I dreaming?
Was I still in the woods bleeding to death? Honestly, I don't know which one is worse.
Then of course Nico had to join in about how I was a child of Hades and how he dreamed about me summoning skeletons. My mind was exploding. I managed to look up to ask who they were on about but the three boys were arguing. Chiron looked like he was trying to calm them down but I couldn't hear anything. The boys were definitely shouting at each other but it was like all the sound had been drained out the room. Then I heard it.
"Find me.." No. Please not again. It was the same voice as in the woods.
"Free me.."
"Who are you?" I waited for an answer but all I heard was a loud silence.
"Answer me!" I ordered.
"We are the forgotten," it repeated, "we are trapped in the shadows of the sea and sky. Find me, and free me."
"Why?" I'm sorry but who did this person think they were?
"I have something that belongs to you, the longer you are without it the closer you are to death..." the voice said, "when you were sucked into the ground you were vulnerable, and weak." My head was pounding. I felt blood trickling out of my ears.
"What is it? What do you have?"
