That evening, if you happened to glance inside the shop Min had come to buy Luna a dress, you would've seen a impudent teenager, with her ear phones in, arms folded and a gaze stubbornly fixated on the ground and an even brattier kid-like woman rolling her eyes every two seconds.
Every time the store manager brought forward a dress, Min would dramatically whine something along the lines of,
"Oh I could've been having tea with my friends right now."
Luna didnt care though, she silently listened to Kanye's enraged rap and mouthed along with it nonchalantly.
To her, Min wasnt worth shouting 'Id prefer a prison cell over your company' at.
Atlast, Min picked one and Luna's blood boiled at the sight of it.
The pathetic excuse of a dress had sky blue paper thin fabric, and jewels that embezzled or rather 'covered' the areas that needed covering, otherwise it was tissue.
But she didnt want to give Min the satisfaction of her annoyance and kept mum about it and followed her to the salon next.
"Do what you think is best, just make her look presentable." Min told the stylist called Juno.
He beamed at Luna, "Oh this will be fun, it's always such an experience to work on natural beauties." Min rolled her eyes, "Yeah well she better be ready by 8."
"And she is..?"
"You've heard of the Pièrces right? The family whose enterprise is spread across the globe?"
Juno nodded eagerly, "Who hasnt heard of them, I always say they are like the Kardashians, but richer and less fake, also more exclusive."
"She's Ramond Pièrce's youngest."
Juno looked at Luna with an analysing gaze, she had been blatantly looking at her shoes trying hard to avoid the mirrors all around.
Heck, even the marbled floor was threatening to show her a clear reflection.
"Is she autistic or something?"
Min smirked, "Why else do you think her family sent her to another continent?"
"Such a shame." Juno said.
Luna sat down on the seat and closed her eyes, David Guetta's Where Them Girls At played on the mp3.
It was her favourite song and thankfully enough to distract her from the pain of eyebrow plucking and hair pulling.
After he was done on what Luna thought felt like a complete body transformation, Junho politely asked Luna to look in the mirror but she told him it was fine.
A few of his assistants also insisted that she looked beautiful and that she should look but she excused herself saying she needed to go wear her dress.
☾
Though Min would never admit it outloud, Luna did look gorgeous.
She had her father's jett black hair, her mother's soft features and her grandma's smart and tall physique.
Min couldn't stand not voicing her thoughts,
"You may not trust me but trust Juno, he is the best at what he does, I mean look at yourself." She said, gesturing towards the cheval mirror.
Luna's mp3 had run out of battery but she still kept the earphones in so that Min wouldnt bother her too much.
And after a few seconds of pestering she gave up and both of them silently waited for the gents.
☾
The party was absolutely grand. The entrance was a red carpet with cameras clicking away from every direction.
Because apparently all the elites of South Korea were there and it reminded Luna of the 'Le Caprice'.
It was much like 'The Met Gala' but more exclusive , it was held every two years and each time in a different location on the globe.
And the host each time was determined by which family or man had the most rewarding year, financially ofcourse.
Luna smiled at none of the cameras because the last time cameras were this eager to capture her was when she was in handcuffs, on her way to a court hearing.
Jihoon squeezed her arm, and whispered in her ear, "It'll be over soon."
All around the camera and the human eye both shamelessly gawked at Luna in curiosity, she was a new and literally foreign face, a face next to Seo Jihoon at that.
Inside there were no more flashes but to Luna it seemed like everyone was looking at her so her long-awaited exhalation happened only when everyone's attention diverted to the gem of the evening, the to-be married couple.
Following them, entered Hyun Kim, looking dashing as ever in a navy blue suit, the color, a shade darker than his hair.
Luna's eyes widened.
"That's Hyuck Kim and his fiancé Sooin Jung. And behind him is Hyun Kim his younger brother" Jihoon uttered.
She whipped head towards him, "The Hyuck Kim from work?"
Jihoon nodded.
She connected all the dots and remembered where else she had heard that name.
And concluded that Haemin was going to be here too.
Luna faced away from where Hyun was.
How on earth was she going to face him alone? What if he inquired about her imaginary boyfriend?
Coming from behind her, she heard a very peculiar and contagious laughter of a woman, she turned around and let her gaze follow the owner.
There by the refreshments table stood a tall, silverish blond -almost white- haired girl, dressed in a black off shoulder thigh slit dress.
She had an elegantly prominent smile and at first glance she thought it almost resembled Haemin's.
And just as her gaze casually slid to the side she saw him.
Haemin.
Luna found out why the silver haired girl was laughing, Haemin was comically explaining something and everyone around him laughed.
Luna figured that she must be his girlfriend and disappointment threatened to wash over her.
They looked perfect together.
They looked like they could successfully rule an empire together.
Both of them had prize winning smiles.
And well, both were asian.
Luna caught Haemin's eye and his smile slowly diminished, Luna averted her gaze in panic and cursed under her breath as he started to abruptly walk towards her without excusing himself.
She turned to run away but from that side came another problem, Hyun.
She looked around for Jihoon desperately but he was on the other side of the hall with Changmin and Min and their friends.
Luna started to pray,
Dear God, I wont be angry about you ignoring me all these years anymore if you just get me out of this situation now.
Dear god, please.
Dear god, never mind.
