Chapter 3: Heart of Steel
It was a few days ago I found this another dimensional workplace.
When I was really desperate about my family condition. My dummy father gone nowhere leaving me and my mother a really freaking much debt that we must paid.
With that I must search for work and attend class at the same time. The thing is going smoothly. I could manage those two obligation with no worries.
But when hope start to bless us a group of freaking idiot steal every money that we own. That group is the debt's collector subordinates. They reveice his demand and force us to pay the debt with every money we own.
From there depression start to control me. Fortunately, there was my angelic mother who cheer up my feeling. There was two of my best friend who will take me to any refreshing place.
I was so glad. Although, I can't let the condition always go like this.
Where I'm looking for new hope. A man in black suit offer me a really convincing job but quite dangerous. He even give me really much money for guarantee.
"The job is simple. You just have to kill every monster army in the wave and everything is done. You have your paid and life if you not go any furhter from there"
At first his words heard can't be trusted. But then he show up a magic when we at front of a door. Rainbow light appear from the gap of the door. Just after he opened the door, a view of different filling up my sight.
From there, a flat-expression woman appear before me. Telling me if I want to become one of the defense force.
After that time, here I am. Come back every night to work at another dimension.
In presence, I still just stand in front of the boundary between space and time. Just before I want start to walk, someone appear before me.
"Why are you just standing in that place, dude?"
He is one of my closest comrade in my team. His name is Six, and yeah, that is just a nickname he use on that place.
I start to walk in and answer his question.
"I'm just thinking about something"
"Something, eh. Is that a woman?"
After I walk pass the door. The boundari of space and time closed. Then we began to walk to the preparation room. Pass through a corridor made of black steel.
I take a peek at Six and sees him with a casual clothes and a bagpack. When you look at his face and you intelectual enough, you will realise if he have what we called a europian youth face. He even talk with british accent and you must know where he is come from.
His blue sphere eyes stare at me with quite much excited.
"Yeah-yeah, it's my mother. You satisfied"
"Meh, it's always your mother. I know you have family matter. But, don't you even interested searching for a girlfriend who will hug you when you tired, spoil you when you feel depressed"
He start hugging himself and move like a creep when he said that. When we always be in this kind of conversation. I'll just stare to front and answer.
"I don't want to add another burden when I'm still very troubled now"
And he will always look at me with pity on his face then answer.
"I know you have your own problem, dude. But you have to get self-refreshing to avoid your depression become severe"
"I have my heart, motive, friends, and the most important is my mother. Just that I can make my feet always stand up in every situation"
"Always in high confident, eh"
We walk far enough and not far ahead we catch a view of a man standing in front of a room.
A black skinned old timer. Looks dashing in a black and white armor suit. In his right hand, he holding his armor helmet.
"Why always you two who being late!"
He talk with a military voice tone to a college teenager like us. We stopped and stand before him. Then give sakute like a soldier to their commander.
"I'm sorry, sir! I have something to do and it quite spent a lot of time!"
Six report first just like a teenage. Even though he tried his best to do that. The commander won't allowed a simple reason like that to be heard to his ear.
"Don't you dare to tell me id you freak your girlfriend before you go ro this place!"
"Wha - !"
Many voice laughing at him come from the preparation room. He panicked a little when he heard the commander suspect him.
"NO, it's not that!"
The commander suspect sounds right tho.
"Just shut your mouth and begin preparing you spoiled guy!"
"Wha! Please stop teasing me like that!"
Although the situation you can say dark somehow, the commander take a little time to teasing one of his squad.
Six began to walk in after being teasing. After that the commander attention change to me.
"What's your excuse, Gan?"
He talk to me with a quite serious looking face and tone .
"I'm sorry for being late, sir"
"Didn't have a reason and just being a slacker, huh. Start your preparation"
"Yes, sir"
I give a salute before walk in.
The room is just the same like a military preparation room. Some difference may be the room is made by a steel. The locker for soldier in the room is only ten. The locker shaped is capsule hexagon.
Everyone in the room seems busy with their preparation. Some even have finished their preparation.
I walk to a locker beside Six. The locker opened it self and there is a view of an armor suit just like the others. The only difference is it sized.
When I began my preparation, Six stare me like I'm a criminal who are treated better by the guard.
"Why he always treat you better, dude?"
"Maybe because I always go to the point and not giving useless reasons"
I start to take off my bag, shirt and pants while having a conversation.
"Waduhek, dude. I even not giving a useless reasons and still treated like a spoiled guy by him, by the way"
"Giving a reason is just useless to him, I think"
"Is that your judgment on him?"
I almost done in my preparation while Six take his time to babbling about his not fair commander.
"What the freak you babbling in there! Come hurry up we don't have much time until the army made to the borderwall!"
The commander realize we spend a useless time while our comrade is finishing their preparation.
"Y-yes, sir!"
Six speed up his changing. Me too do the same. Now I'm only wearing a short pants.
The armor suit have two parts. First part is a tight suit that have a same form as dive suit. Weared from the back of it. Literally it have a zipper on it back. But when I wear it, the zipper is installed on it's own. What a future thing.
The second part is the armor. The armor is not fully cover you. It just have only for hands, chest, foot (armor shoes), and a helmet.
Six and I finished wearing armor suit at the same time. We even wear the helmet at quite same time.
"Come on soldier! We have an army of undead waiting for our sweet arrival!"
We began to walk join in to the squad.
The squad leaving the base. Go through the hallway and get off to the elevator then arrive at a room parking future airplanes.
In the room there are two of what you called a female Android robot. One waiting in front of the airplanes and the other standing at a table full of weapons.
We stopped first at the table. Choosing what we want to bring in the battle. For me, I usually choose a light shield and a one handed shotgun. I bring up a short sword to for secondary.
"Are you done with your toy, soldier! Let's go!"
With the commander command we began to walk in to the airplanes.
"The ace again only carried one long sword, eh"
My sight distracted by Six words. The person he mentioned is the one who only bring one weapon in his hand. That't not a problem even most of us bring atleast two in our hand though. Because he quite capable in the battle so that doesn't matter.
"Well, that's because he's the ace"
When all of us on board, the airplanes which piloted by the android started flying.
The airplanes flying using two driving machines on the left and right. A machine that can be moved down and up, front and back horizontically.
The airplanes began to move forward when the machines facing back.
Passing through long corridor before meet up with a gateway.
When the airplanes is out to white light, there is a view of another world.
Inside the airplanes we could see outside from the translucent floor and roof of the airplane.
On the outside there is a view of so much-better-than earth. The sky is filling up with green and blue colour. Not really far from it there is a view of an ouspace filled up with so much stars and cosmos.
The world is full of big tree. Including the one which is behind us. Natives of this world called it The Tree of Life. It has one miles height and has an area of about three kilometers in diameter.
That tree actually is a base of the native to hide from many monster of this world. Including one kind that we have to face. Even though the tree is protected by a transparent wall higher and wider than the tree.
We still fly high to the sky. When I though when it will be end, the next instant a view of hexagon thing that part of transparent wall appear and disappear. Show his form and disappear to let us out.
When the airplanes made out through the wall, a dark senses of an army of monster can be sense below us.
There is a hundred army of undead human attacking a giant base that actually a part of the transparent wall. If that break, the tree and everything in it will be food for every scary being in this world.
"Oke! Here is the plan!"
The commander stand up and walk to behind the airplanes. Opened the door and let in a windblow enter the room.
"We fall we sway! Got that soldier!"
"Sir Yes Sir!" said everyone in the room except me.
Why you ask? Because I'm not a soldier and why do we have to sway in the army of monsters.
"Ok, Let's roll!"
The commander fall first. Followed behind him every soldier in the airplanes.
Chapter 4: Adetya vs Asura
I forgot to tell this. We are not just ordinary soldier. We are called Adetya by the Natives of this world. Even though we never meet them in the eyes and they only sent their Android to communicate with us.
Our job is to defend their home from an undead creatures down there. Prevent to not let them destroy the place that create the transparent wall.
We have ten Adetya including me. Ten of us against like hundreds of undead creatures likes human. That's not a big deal though. Because one of us atleast can kill for like fifty of them.
If you're an ace in the squad like the one in mine. He even can slay for like two hundred of them just with his sword.
We are falling to the ground pretty much fast. We even directly plunge with our head downward for faster move.
I can sense their attention pointing at us.
They are what we called a monster. Their form just like an ordinary human with two hands and foots and head. But what make them different is their skin, power and awareness.
Their skin is though enough that a gun made by human earth would do nothing to them. Their strength is measured by five adult men, the native said. Their awareness, is the one that made them called undead. Can't feel hurt or everything that hit them. But that doesn't meand they can't be killed or hard to kill.
Actually, they are just a pawn in this battle. We just need to kill them like ordinary human. Shot them with this world gun in the chest will make them die. Slash them to two they surely gone.
I can't say that's quite easy. In fact, they pretty hard to skill. It's just the weapon and equipment the native create just really strong.
With our armor suit equipped, the amount of our strength is measured by ten men. That made this battle is a hundred Adetya versus hundreds of undead.
"Let's kill them all!!"
The commander scream before he pointing his gun to the ground. Shooting at every undead he aim with a railgun.
Just before we made to the ground nine of us except the ace do the same like commander. Kill for like dozen of them in the sky.
Just really before we made to the ground, the ace made a move with his sword above his head, then when he make a undead his bearing falls, he swang his sword and stomping it to the ground. Made a falling wave that vibrate and destroy his surroinding.
For me, I'm doing the same when I fell. Make a undead my bearing falls then shot it head right after I fell. On next move I fastly pointing at another undead that run to me.
I'm in high ground. But made it to my position is easy for the undead.
In armor suit, my sense and pace pretty much increasing.
Right after I shot one, I change my aim to another. Repeat that cycle if the monster is far away. When one of them can run closer to me, I throw my gun at my back and changing weapon to sword that I put at my waist.
After I kill one with sword, I would like to change to gun again. But at this time there are like three of them run to me fastly. Changing weapon at this time is quite bad idea.
So I directing my shield on left hand and wait for their coming.
One of them come and lift up it full-of-claw right hand. It right hand swing quite strong.
I move back one feet and let him scratching my shield strong enough and made it carry down. I did that on purpose so his head is free from hit. I lift up my sword and swang it to first undead head.
In next instant I push the first undead body. The second undead know it coming and getting rid of his partner's body with his right hand, letting it fall down. Fastly I move while he doing that and swang my sword tilted horizontally.
The second undead head split in two and die.
The third come with a jump. His two feet and hands manage to hanging in my body. Then he use his mouth full of prickly teeth to bite my helmet.
I quite struggling but can manage throw off it to the floor.
Not giving a rest time he fastly control his move then jump again to me. Againts it move I pointing my sword backhanded. Lift up to my head, move forward a bit, then quickly stab undead body and drop it on the floor.
On next move I let go my sword. Move forward a bit, clanching my fist, then with strong enough punch undead head and make it head shattered.
Actually, I quite didn't like close combat. So when it come to this I have to go all out if I want to make it out.
"Hey, partner what's your status?"
A voice come from transmeter is talking to me. That's come from Six that I can't see where he is.
"I'm quite troubled here. How about you?"
"Well, you see. I always landed on very top of the ground so I can see the situation"
"And fact that you contact me at this time was because..."
I stopped talking to see to in front of this building. Right after I stopped talk Six continue.
"Yup, exactly. We have stronger guests here"
A big castle that have same size as this place is appearing.
When we landed just a moment ago that place is not there. Well actually, before it that place is filling up by very high and thick fog. In fact that the fog is gone and show scenery of a looking-nice castle.
"For all my squad. If you see a view of a castle that just appeared. Don't try to let your guard down. We still have a plenty of job here"
A voice of commander giving a demand to his squad coming from helmet transmeter.
With that as a command I ignored the castle from now and focus at every enemy that come from any direction.
I transfer my sword to left hand and holding the railgun back in the right hand. Shot every enemy in a distant and slash every enemy that getting closer.
It takes for like an hour or two to finish the job. We finish to finish off the enemy with just a little wound. For me, I once can't focused somehow and let an undead scratch my right arm.
After killing every undead we gather up at the very top of the building. How we get there? With armor suit on our body, jump to a ten meter height is not a very big deal.
"Ok, soldier! Report your current situation!"
The commander pointing at every squad and looking at their current body situation.
Everyone giving a report of their little wound and looking just fine.
"I just happen got a bite on my right shoulder"
Six giving a report and showing a wound on his right shoulder. The commander see that as not really big deal and even give him a little tease.
"Well, with your armor suit on you, you don't need a kiss from your gf do you?"
"Wha! Of course, not! It's not a big deal!"
The squad happened to have a funny moment on briefing. Thanks to Six everyone can have a little refreshion.
"Well, how about you two?"
The commander pointing at me and the ace that I didn't realize he have been beside me since then.
At a moment no one answer the question. But when I decide to talk. We talked at the same time.
"I'm pretty mudh okay"
"I can go on"
I can go on!? That was the ace said.
Everyone seems quite surprised at his words. The very one is surprised is the commander.
"What do you mean, Ace? Our job is done here"
At commander next question, the ace pointing at castle that is bigger than the building we step on.
Everyone was fixated on the ace response. But the one who is breaking the moment is Six. With a quite scared tone he talk.
"Did you want to face the thing on that castle? Are you crazy? We ordinary soldiers are only ordered to eradicate the undead! Even though you want to face that thing, you can't because you're not an Ace in Combat!"
The ace is not talking but only stare at Six on his helmet. Even though Six feels discriminated by his glare.
"If you are not then I will go by myself"
The ace talked like that and step away from the group. But he can't just go like that easily.
"Stop right there, soldier! You are not going anywhere!"
The ace stopped his feet at commander order. However, he looks like won't hear the second order.
"Only because we are just ordinary soldier, that doesn't mean we are weak!"
The ace talked while encouraging. I didn't very much know him. That's because he quite never talk about himself. It made me judge his attitude as arrogant.
But at this time, he talked just like ordinary ace. Stand and battling in very front of the battle-field, and when we exhausted and want just go home after this, he made us uplifting our spirit.
"What's special with a monster in there? Just because he have his own castle and army? Look at us, we easily wiped out his army and only get minor damage"
Everyone on the group look at their body and realize what the ace was talking about. I can feel their spirit is liven up by his words.
"Just because I'm not an Ace in Combat so I can't beat his head up?! But our Ace in Combat only with themself they can beat them?! Don'e make me laugh. I'm the ace in this group. So if I have my group that thing barely not a big deal for us!"
He clanched his fist with so much spirit on it. Only with that act he make the squad feels want to continue the battle.
When we get outside the wall we won't get communication with the main headquarters. So the main decision is in the hands of the commander.
Everyone in the squad looking at the commander. Waiting for his response.
"Once I said. If we have come out of the wall that means we are ready to die. So that means no one can reject everyone's wishes. Am I right?"
"But man!"
Right after commander words, Six shows his rejection.
"What, spoiled man, are you scared?"
"What! No! It's just I want quickly go home!"
"Hahaha, as always, huh"
With Six rejectcion, the commander knows he is scared. But at this time he wasn't as hard as usual. However he act gently like a leader.
He walk to a quite scared Six of his approaching. Pat Six shoulder and talk.
"I don't know how much we can get by killing the boss. But, it's the boss you know. Of course they will give us a really big prizes, right"
The commander convincing Six just like that, and Six well affected by his words.
"Akhh okay-okay, alright! But when we see that is imposible to beat the boss we have to go back, understood!"
"As you wish, spoiled guy"
