Day Two of Hogwarts

The day started the same as yesterday. Isabella got up, got ready, went down to breakfast with Mira and Adam and talked with her other friends for a while Before class started.

In Herbology, they continued to take care of their plants from yesterday. Potter seemed to be paying more attention to Professor Longbottom now. Nick didn't speak to her, but she noticed him looking at her at times. But other than that the morning went by smoothly.

In History of Magic, Professor Binns was impressed with Potter's notes. Isabella supposed that his notes must have been the bare minimum in the past.

The rest of this class seemed to go by very slowly, since everyone was still working and she was done. She read the rest of the class period (her book was so good, she didn't want to put it down). It seemed that Potter was still scribbling on that same paper from yesterday. She wondered what it was, but she never had the chance to see it, no matter how many times she tried to steal a glance at it.

Potter noticed her trying to see what he was doing. He purposely didn't let her see. And no matter how curious she was, this wasn't something he'd let her see.

Well, not yet at least.

After class, Binns pulled her and Potter aside.

"Miss Isabella, I'd like you to work with Potter on his notes every time we have a note taking lesson. He seems to work better after class, and perhaps you are being of help to him."

"Yes, Professor Binns." She replied.

"Alright. Potter, you heard?"

"Yes, sir." He replied, in a monotone voice.

"Well it's settled then. Thank you Isabella." Professor Binns then turned and floated away. He was happy with this result. Perhaps now that Potter would be able to raise his grades. He figured it was for the best of he kept them working together.

Isabella walked away to go to lunch quickly.

'I'm not letting her leave me this time.' Nick thought. He followed her. She was just barely entering the Great Hall when she noticed him following her. She stopped.

"Well, I'm off then..." she said. That was supposed to be his sign to leave.

"Nah... you can't rid of me today, Bella."

"What? No. Go with your friends or someone else."

"No thanks."

"Aghhh! You stubborn prick!"

At this point there was nothing she could do. He wasn't leaving.

At the table, Mira was surprised to see Nick following Isabella.

"What's Potter up to?" She whispered to Isabella.

"being stubborn." She simply replied, clearly flustered.

"Potter." Adam said, his tone wasn't that of how you'd greet your best friend, but not that of enemies either.

"Smith." Potter replied, in the same tone. There must have been some beef between them at some point.

This lunch was quieter.

Philip and Jane, with their Hufflepuffs qualities, tried to strike up a conversation but it died down fast. It was clear that Potter didn't normally talk to them.

After lunch the only interesting class was Transfiguration. They were starting to practice turning objects into animals.

Otherwise, it was mostly reading and notes.

She didn't see Potter the rest of the day. She simply ignored him, and avoided every interaction with him.

She just felt... flustered by what he had pulled off earlier. Can't he take "no" for an answer? Thinking of him only distracted her, and made her become even more frustrated.

He could tell that Isabella was avoiding him. She sidestepped him, avoided any slight contact. Two days and he had already managed to make her not like him. Maybe not even two days. Their first class together she had already seemed irritated by him.

Usually he could flash a few winks at girls and that'd be it, they'd love him, swoon at his feet perhaps. Why was she so complicated? But at least she was genuine. Once again, unlike the other girls. Who sometimes faked not only their appearances but their personalities too just to perhaps snatch his attention.

Was he overthinking this situation with Isabella?

Probably... he let out a sigh.

The desert today (in the Great Hall at dinner) seemed especially good. Isabella took a piece of apple pie, with some vanilla bean ice cream and a small red cherry topping it off. She let herself take in the sweet aroma of the pie, and letting some of the ice cream melt and drip down on the pie. The crust was crunchy but soft, the apples were just the right amount of sweet. Isabella let herself savor every bite, chewing slowly not wanting to lose the taste of it. This was the best apple pie she had ever had.

"That was great." Isabella told Mira once they were in their dorms.

"Glad you think so."

Since it was a Friday, the two girls stayed up late chatting. They went to bed at around midnight.

And in the morning when the sun urged them to get up, they both covered their heads with their blankets and continued to sleep.
