Two days later breakfast-
.
"Well, it could be worse." Christian stopped to eat some more cake. "You could have a problem with your hair. Bald before 40 all Lex Luthor-like."
"Right small miracles then." Alex kept eating after that. Working on his spell matrixes while doing so. He at least developed a spell to slow down what was happening at a better scale. As well as decreasing the power needed. Long enough for him to get somewhere safe in the meantime. "it just makes no sense, unless it is something wrong with my body itself."
"Hear ya go." Hermoine came over giving him some papers. "This is what I was able to find in the library about different magical sicknesses that fit your list. I also burned the list like you said."
Grateful for the excuse, to be around some decent students, she happily looked through the various books in the library.
"Thanks. Both of you." Alex then handed Hermoine a few galleons discreetly under the table in a magical pouch. Only she could open it. It also sounded like marples to any passerby. "I will need your assistance in the future most likely." She nodded agreeing and moved to sit with Christian and Neville.
"There goes Draco. Where are Crab and Goyle?" Christian said to no one in particular.
"Meh don't know. Huh, he is sitting by himself. Later for now peeps." Alex got up to sit with Draco. He took his plate with him. New food may appear but old habits die hard. "Oi, Draco what are you doing by yourself, bro?"
"Hey, Alex. Just nothing much." Draco said a little downcast. He started to play with his food as he looked around a little. He was surprised when Alex sat across from him and didn't leave. "You don't have to sit there ya know?"
"I don't have to do much besides stay black, eat, and shit my friend. If you won't tell me what's going on. Then I will bother you till you do. By staying silent like a real ghost. Lurking and looming." Alex said while making faces. "I get bored a lot, so you will see me a lot if I spot you acting like a lonely boy."
"Thanks. Who is lonely boy?"
"It is from a show in America." Alex started to think about it and realized the show was not out yet. Not for a few years. "Not important right now." Taking the notes Hermoine gave him, he started to read them. Slowly the different spell matrixes spun faster.
The ghost he was taking knowledge from also started to shine in a different way. New knowledge had turned the spell Alex used on her to another level. A few other students joined them and breakfast passed by relatively easily.
"Time for class." Alex said after his watch vibrated. A simple spell but one that helped. He stood up and stopped when he felt the stares. "What, I don't want to get lost again. Hate these blasted staircases."
"Hehe, it's easy. I can show you a trick if you want in the future." A random Slytherin girl said.
"Sure. But for now, I am heading off. Later peeps." Alex wanted to hurry to get to class on time.
"Why do you say that? The peeps part." Another Slytherin said.
"Because you all are baby chicks. Like peeps the candy." He looked at the faces. "Seriously, learn a little about the mundane life. It will go far maybe." Turning around he weaved pass one of the Weasleys and was on his way. 'How frigging big is their clan?'
.
-Class-
.
"Hah!" Alex exhaled entering the class. He had gotten lost. Despite his best efforts, the place shifted before he reached the end. He even jumped off the side to a lower staircase to make it on time. Or so he thought.
"You are late."
"On time."
"Students are required to arrive 5 minutes before class start."
"That's stupid and not in the rules." Alex paid the teacher no mind.
"It is my rule." Professor Flitwick said.
"Who gives a shit about your rule?! If it's not in the handbook, it doesn't count!" Alex was pissed. "If this goes on my record I am filing a complaint on abuse of power!"
"-5 Points from Ravenclaw!"
"On what grounds!?" Alex fussed. "This school is fucking retarded!"
"Your language and behavior. Another -5 points."
"Grrrr." Alex growled as he sat in the chair. Magic slowly building up and turning his arm scaly. The student next to him saw and scooted away a little. 'It is just a few years with rules that make no sense. Lousy no good moving staircases. I am gonna look up rules about blowing the blasted things up. It should be able to repair itself.'
"Alright class, wands at the ready. Flick and swish and repeat. Wingardium Leviosa."
The students started to do the exercise. The Professor walked towards Alex who didn't look at him or the feather. He flicked his wand and made the feather fly up dance and bow towards him before putting it back down.
"Very good Mr.Ravenclaw." He was surprised he did the exercise so well. Seeing the boy not care he walked to the next desk.
"Umm excuse me, mind helping me?" His desk mate asked.
"Huh, not really. Your problem is that you are nervous. That and the words are messing you up. Say them in your mind and practice the motion. You don't have to do the swish part. Wait till you get a feel for your magic wrapping around the feather." Alex said. His eyes were closed as he checked a matrix on his transformation. The info from Hermoine helped wonders.
"Hmm ok." His desk mate did a flick and the feather lifted up. "I did it!" He jumped for joy and the feather shot to the ceiling and got stuck. "Oops."
"Yeah.. calm down." Alex said lowly. "Opening his eyes, the teacher was right next to them.
"How did you manage that Quron?" Professor Flitwick asked.
"Alex showed me how. It was really easy." Quron sat down and tried to reach with his magic to pull the feather free. It wiggled just a little bit. "Dang it's too hard." Alex flicked his wand and the feather floated down with his hand movements. It landed right on the table.
"Mr.Ravenclaw it seems this lesson is too easy for you."
"Nope just study beforehand that's all. Not really easy." Alex did not want to talk to the man. His very voice made him angry and agitated his scales.
"How would you like extra credit?"
"Pass. My grades won't be low enough for me to need them. There is no point in wasting my time. And I no longer like you as of today." Alex shrugged as he knew he was right about the work. Both he and Christian studied the curriculum to the best of their abilities. Enough to score high on the tests and any small surprises from whatever crazy reason. They even started studying on their own in the higher grade work. 'No way am I doing extra work. I have enough things to work on as is.'
"Oh and if it gets house points?"
"Pass again. I am not in Gryffindor so it will not matter." Alex took stock of the points he earned already and knew he would be fine for a little longer.
"You talk as if it is rigged?" A Gryffindor student asked.
"You said it, I didn't."
"A shame." The teacher turned to another desk and continued the lesson.
"You serious Alex?" Quron asked. "The house points have to be worth something."
"They are not. Old-fashioned nonsense that has no bearing. It is rigged anyway. Students are wasting their time sweating hovering over it instead of making friends and learning from each other. The things they are supposed to do in school." Alex looked at the boy and then shrugged. "You can waste your time on it if you want. But leave me out of it."
"And if the other house residents disagree with you?" A Ravenclaw girl in front turned to ask. "What about then?"
"They go and report to the headmaster that I don't care and should be removed from the competition or whatever it is. That way I gain no points or lose points for the house " Alex just stared back at her. She was the hoity-toty type. Come from good stock and all that. "I will even sign a letter if you do it yourself." Alex smiled in his mind hoping she would take the bait. He had something prepared thanks to old info he found from the ghost and the hint the Prefect gave him.
"I would like that." She was surprised when Alex pulled a scroll from his robes. Unrolling it, he signed at the bottom and handed it off. "You.. you had this prepared?"
"Yup and a whole bunch of other ones. I am not here for the traditions. I am here to learn magic and survive." Alex said plainly. "According to some of the rules that barely make sense, if you can get 25 students from our year to sign that, then I can be excluded."
"You knew this rule. Why not do it yourself?"
"Because a student from my house has to invite it. Which would be you. So I suggest you get to work." Alex's smile turned evil. If she did it, he was off the hook. If she didn't do it, then he would tick enough people off to have someone else do it.
"I most certainly will." The girl said quite strongly. She did not want to fail at her task. "It is a shame though." She mumbled at the end. 'He earned more points the first week than anyone else did. Maybe I should ask my sister first. She was at the incident the other day.'
"Alright class," Professor Flitwick said getting everyone's attention. "You can continue to work on the basics while those who have succeeded turn to page 137 and start reading. The students started right on their tasks excited. Alex turned to the page to see what could be different. It was the effects Levitation had on living bodies. Professor Flitwock stared at him before turning away. 'Hoho, it will be quite the task to get him normal. The other boy Christian seems fine though.'
*Poof!* To the side a student causes a feather to explode. Nearby a few Grfyindor students laughed.
"Ah, I can't get it to work either." Harry said frustrated a little. Next to him. Hermoine recited as she did in the movie getting his attention. Following her advice Harry made it float and do a little dance. He did not thank her.
Much to the surprise of Christian. Ron mocked Hermoine making the sounds but not saying anything.
Class finished normally and everyone picked up their bags to leave. On the way out, Christian and Alex stopped as they watched Harry and Ron make fun of Hermoine again. The girl took in stride as she walked past. Up till someone whispered filthy mudblood.
"Sniff." Hermoine sped up and left. Looking at each other, Christian and Alex move to talk a little.
*Woom!* A small sound spell went up to hide their talk.
"Well that happened the same but a little different than it should have." Christian said. Seeing Alex just nod he wanted some input. "So let's go kill a troll." Christian had a small smile on his face. Alex smiled like a predator at that. "Or we capture it for my animal habitat. I know you want it to."
"Tch, a corpse will allow better for what I need right now." Alex said. "But yes, we will capture the troll. The lying part to the teachers will be on you however." Christian beamed a smile that was darn right scary. The idea of having a troll was making him giddy.
"Great! But she may not get attacked the same and we should look for more changes. There have been a lot of them." Christian said. Alex just looked at him weirdly. "Haa, I will tell you later. Just try not to exile any ghosts anytime soon."
"Hmm, no promises. Gurggle!" Alex's stomach growled. He pushed the spell matrixes to much in class and needed to eat a bigger meal. It didn't help he ate a small one for breakfast in an effort to get to class on time. "Food." Christian laughed and they went on their way.
Alex had cut a loaf of bread in half and had Turkey meat, ham, sausage, and bacon on it. Seeing something that looked like BBQ sauce he gave it a taste and put it on lightly afterward. It tastes sweet and a little spicy.
"You.. eat.. goat?" A student behind him said. It was Ron Weasley. Like a bunch of other students, they stared at Alex. "You know it is made from.. mpf." Christian turned around and covered Ron's mouth.
"Mmmmh so good." Alex said after the first bite. "If I had eggs it would be perfect. His eyes were closed as he savored it. Across from him, Draco made a small copy of the sandwhich and took a bite. Smiling eyes wide he ate it heartily as well. A few others from their Charm class did the same.
Minus the BBQ sauce by some. They knew what it was. Finishing the sandwich, Alex grabbed a bowl of fruit. He ate a different one piece by piece getting a taste of what tasted better with the sandwich.
"Try this." A Ravenclaw girl said. She handed a glaze over to Alex. He sniffed it and then gave a tentative lick to it. "It is not poisoned!"
"That is what the kidnappers said to me and Christian." Alex said. "It is sour. Not bad." Adding it on the different fruit he was surprised that it all tasted better somehow. "Thanks."
"You are welcome!" The girl then sat down nearby and started eating. She happily ate like everyone else but she thought about other things. 'First contact successful! Just need to gain his trust and watch his development. I wonder how he killed a ghost? I will ask him next year. Ah, the long game is always fun after a while anyway.'
A few whispers started to travel around. Someone spoke about how a girl had been crying in the bathroom. Ron and Harry gave each other a look. Christian smacked them both in the back of the head. Alex however kept eating happily. Feeling himself full he stopped to make a sandwich to take for later.
"Are you eating another one?" Draco asked.
"Nah this is for later. Later." Alex said. He repeated the last word after noticing a few of the others faces. "Huh?" Christian had grabbed his robe.
It didn;t take long for them to make it where they needed to be.
"Come on we need to go." Turning he left with Ron and Harry following behind. You two have done enough, how about you make sure the area is clear." They nodded and checked around the area.
As they left the hall, the door opened to reveal Professor Quirrel entering the hall on the other end. He was reporting about a troll as well as something else.
"Students return to your quarters post haste!" Headmaster Dumbledore said. His voice boomed out as everyone filed out.
"Hope they turn out ok." Draco said. A few others nodded but did not tell the teachers what happened. They didn't want to make the situation worse. Draco did tell the Ravenclaw Prefect however. "I rather my friend not get hurt ok?"
The Prefect nodded and Draco returned to the Slytherin group. The scarf Alex gave him released a little magic making him warmer. Draco gripped it and remained quiet. Crab and Goyle made it over to him.
"Hey Draco," Goyle said lowly. "I heard the troll was let loose on purpose. A few third years saw a man in a cloak over on the east grounds. "The description matches Professor Quirrel."
"Keep it to yourself." Draco said. He was warning them so they don't get in trouble. Not by the teachers but by the person who did it. Draco spared a glance at the teacher laying on the floor. 'Alex said to watch out for the man. Said he was a pedophile. I will ask them when I head home for the holidays."
"So we should travel together. Right, Draco?" Crab asked. Draco nodded and they moved along with the others.
Down the halls.
"Slow down already Christian." Alex said. We should be fine. We left before the attack started."
"Yeah but.. I just have a bad feeling. Last time I had it, I found out you fought a ghost." Christin looked to him as he said it with wry smile. "Maybe there is something else besides a troll. But what are the odds of that?"
"Ohhh, about a 100%." Alex said stopping. He waved his wand over them both. A small milky membrane appeared over them. A small protection spell. "Look."
"Its.. its.. a Troll and an Oni! It must be my birthday!" Christian said excited. Alex smirked next to him.
The Oni was the same height as the troll but actually had leather clothing on. The skin was a dark red, almost the same color as an apple. The subtle muscles gave away that it was more of a stalker or gatherer Alex thought. It looked around cautiously unlike the trolls meandering. The giant machete in its hand caused Alex blood to boil. He was looking forward to fighting the thing Also a strange notion to bite it.
"Slurp!" He licked his lips in preparation. "Soo you get a living troll and I get the dead oni." Alex said.
"The oni is not dead though." Christian said. He then thought about it. "Wait let me have them both, I will pay you back."
"The Oni is not dead yet. Yet my friend." Alex had reached into his pocket and grabbed five marbles. "So you go save the girl and I have some fun with it."
"She is not in any danger.."
"Ahhh!" Hermoine had opened the door and saw the troll. She slammed it shut and went back inside.
"Nevermind." Christian ran towards the troll as Alex ran towards the Oni that just turned around. "Just dont kill it."
"Sching!" The machete swung in a wide arc at Alex.
"Right.. I will give the good ole American try. Like 5%.. Alex said as he slid under the weapon the Oni had.
