Chapter 10: Token of affection.
Quirell has just locked the door of his teacher chamber when his Lord say, "Someone just came here."
"My Lord?" Quirell ask, waiting for his Lord command.
"In the table." Voldemort say. Quirell take a look at the table like his master instructed.
There is a small black box. Quirell walk to the table to have a better look at it. It was a simple velvet box. A scrap of parchment is tucked under the box. Quirell grab the box and open it carefully. Inside is an ancient looking ring. There is a weird symbol on the stone in the middle of the ring, but nothing special. Quirell can sense his master interest, "Show it to me." Voldemort said.
Quirell undo his turban. Voldemort face is in the back of his head. It's like he is a man with two faces. Quirell take the box in his hand and show it to Voldemort.
"It is my ring." Voldemort say, "I have it hidden safely. How come it's here?"
"My Lord, there is this parchment." Quirell show it to Voldemort as well, "maybe it's a message."
Voldemort look at the parchment, reading "Dear Lord Voldemort, consider this ring my token of affection, it'll help you regain your old body back. H."
"M..my Lord?"
Voldemort can feel his soul inside the ring. His Gaunt ring. His horcrux.
"Change of plan." Voldemort tell Quirell, "We won't need the stone anymore."

Hogwarts is in a big fuss. Professor Quirell is missing. He was last seen fainted in the middle of the great hall when there is a troll break in Hogwarts. When the students take shelter in the hall, nobody notice his whereabout. After the excitement died down, they realized that the stuttering Professor is no longer seen in Hogwarts.
The headmaster make the other professors searching the whole castle to no avail. It's like Quirell is vanish from the face of earth. Snape convince Dumbledore to go searching in Quirell personal chamber, insist that they may have found some clue in there.
There is a clue found. A parchment with Quirell own handwriting. It said that Quirell is afraid of the troll, that he got a call to an expedition somewhere that have no troll involved, so he took the first chance available and get out of Hogwarts as fast as possible. And that Dumbledore should find new teacher for Defense against the dark arts (DADA).
The students got some funny moment because of this, they can't get over the fact that Quirell is so afraid of troll, he run away from Hogwarts. The joke did not last for long.
Dumbledore managed to find them all a substitute teacher in short notice. Their substitute teacher, Professor Wright, is a retired auror who's afraid of his own shadow. His teaching way is almost as good as Quirell is. Sigh. The students feel that this subject is a definite fail in the end. At last, until they get a more decent teacher in the future.
