Rye slowly opened his eyes.
'Come on…not again.'
This time instead of a darkness-filled space, the whole space was a holy white color.
'Congratulations brave hero! You have passed the testing field!' A sound emanated throughout the white space.
Rye looked around at his surroundings… there was nothing… just whiteness, so how could someone be speaking?
'Hahahaha… There are many things that are beyond your comprehension in the far universe, child. Oh and you can speak in this space.'
'Who are you?'
'Me? You can consider me a higher entity. What was it that humans used to call us… that's right… gods, you can call us gods.'
'So this is a god… how exciting…' Rye thought.
'I am curious though… who is the god that gave you your divine protection?'
'Divine protection?' Rye thought to himself.
'So you haven't heard of it? Rare… but not unheard of. You can consider a divine protection to be a blessing that gods give out to a select few individuals. Only these individuals can pass through the testing field. Otherwise, with your puny grade of existence you wouldn't last a week inside there.'
Rye was shocked.
'Ummmmm… could you please stop reading my mind?'
He would have liked to look for another method, but he wasn't even sure about where he was…
'Oh… that? I guess its become a habit, you know. I'll stop.'
As soon as he said those words, Rye's mind began to process all of the information that was given to him.
'Ok, so this 'god' said that only those with a divine protection could pass the testing field. It seems that I didn't have one… otherwise my trial would have been much simpler. So I am different from the others that passed the trial… but I can't let him know that, as there may be repercussions.'
There were 2 main reasons why Rye asked the god to stop reading his mind.
Number 1, was the fact that he himself didn't possess a divine protection, which may be a bad thing.
And number 2…
'Speaking of god… I wonder what his corpse looks like… I wonder if he will let be dissect it. I could learn so much,' he thought.
'Child you have been chosen! You have been chosen by the gods to complete a task. A task that is filled with danger and death and at the same time a task that will give you the opportunity to transcend your pitiful state of existence and become gods!'
'Gods…' He thought to himself.
'How hard is this task compared to the testing field, if it was given to a normal human.'
'If the testing field was given to a normal human… mmmm… I guess that this task can be considered to be a thousand times more difficult. But you're not a normal human so rejoice! You have a divine protection!'
'Yeah… divine protection…' he thought.
'I accept'
'This divine protection will allow you to have a much… what? You accept?'
'Yeah.'
'Don't you understand that you might be killed at any time?'
'Yeah… but that's alright. Let me ask you something god. Can this task… can it allow me to feel fulfillment?'
'Fulfillment? Hahahaha! Its been a long time since I have heard that word! Yes! You will feel fulfilled!'
'Then is that even a question? Of course I will take this task!'
This was Rye's path
'Good… very good. Let me explain it to you then. You will be transported to a world. Your mission is to conquer it!' God stated in a majestic voice.
'A world? What type of world?'
'A fantasy world. A world from the fiction of your own world.'
'Fiction eh,' he thought. 'I'm sort of screwed then…'
It was the truth… Rye had never in his entire life picked up a work of fiction. He had always considered them to be garbage and an entire waste of his precious time.
'Can I ask why it's a world from the fiction of my own world?'
'No.'
'I kind of expected that…' he thought to himself.
'Ok then… send me to this other world and I will conquer it for you.'
'Don't you want your wishes?'
'Wishes?'
'Of course wishes. Did you think that we gods were monsters, sending you humans to another world without a good enough method to protect yourself?
'Good point… Can I ask you a few questions before that?'
'3,' the god said simply, as if he was given specific instructions.
'Ok… number 1, how many people are you sending to other worlds?'
'More than a hundred million.' God replied simply.
'Question 2… are these 'contestants' only from my plant?'
'No,' another simple answer.
'Question 3…'
'The most important one…' thought Rye.
'How many people have conquered worlds so far?'
'15,' the god replied.
Each of Rye's questions were aimed to collect the most information possible. Number 1 was aimed to give Rye an estimation on how people joined this mission. It was a vital piece of information which could help him formulate his two other questions.
From question 1, Rye was able to conclude that not all these people were from earth. After all, a hundred million was a huge number. If all one hundred people cam from earth, then that would mean that 1/70th of people on earth were 'special'. Considering the rarity of prodigies on earth, such a statistic was simply impossible. Question 2 was only to confirm his thinking.
And question 3. It was to simply show his chance of success.
'15 people out of one hundred million have conquered worlds… that sounds… exciting.'
'NOW that all of that is over. Child, chose your wishes!'
Rye's brain instantly began to process the information from his questions.
'Give me access to every single participant's wishes, worlds of reincarnation and deaths.'
God was silent for a while.
'So be it.' He stated simply.
A mass of information began to pour into his head. Names, Powers, Worlds and deaths.
'Interesting,' he thought to himself.
'I wish for a method to cultivate the brain and a method to cultivate the soul.
'Your wishes have been granted.'
Instantly information began to fill his head, as a method to strengthen his brain and soul was imprinted into his mind.
'I really would have liked to dissect you… but you probably won't let me, so maybe next time…'
'And now for the fun part! Your world!'
A snapping sound echoed throughout the white space.
'It has been decided. Your world has been chosen'
A parchment appeared in from of him.
World: Boku no Hero Academia
Origin: Japan
Difficulty rating: 3 stars.
Background information: A shining baby marked the end of the old era and the beginning of a new era! The era of superheroes! This world revolved around superpowers called 'quirks'. There are some who use these powers for evil, known as the villains and others who use it for good, the heroes.
Conquering requirements: Defeat all who oppose you until there is no one left to oppose you.
Rye quickly scanned over it.
'Come on… your basically just asking me to rule over a whole world…'
'What does the difficulty rating say?'
'2 stars' he stated simply.
His instincts told him that reveling that his mission was a three star mission might be dangerous.
'You are going to die.'
'What?'
'It happens sometime you know. There's at least a chance of success for a 1 star missions, for a newbie like you. But a two star mission? Not a chance. You are going to die… Damn I feel like I wasted the last few minutes of my life now.'
Rye could understand what the god said.
The memories that he had gained from his first wish stated that:
A 1 star mission was simply a reincarnation in a world with little or no magic or supernatural events. These missions normally meant conquering specific targets or messing up the plots.
A 2 star mission was a reincarnation in a world where magic was a part of the 'secret side of society'
A 3 star mission was a reincarnation in a world where magic and the supernatural had fully integrated into modern society. These missions normally consisted of defeating all of ones opponents o something else like that.
But then the question appeared: if god gave you 3 wishes to choose anything you wanted, then why did it mean that there was no chance in conquering a two star or three star world? Couldn't you wish for some ability that gave you infinite strength or magic that could destroy a world?
Rye had learned from the experiences that he had wished for in his first wish. If you wish for infinite strength or magic, then the characters in your world will also strengthen in proportion to how strong you are. For example, if you wished to be as strong as an elephant, then an elephant would automatically become as strong as a dinosaur. One star missions were different. Due to the limited presence of magical energy, having a superior ability wouldn't affect the world. But then again, you didn't have to defeat some big boss to conquer these worlds, making such abilities useless.
That's why he wished for abilities that could grow as he trained them. Since the growth of his abilities was not directly due to a wish, then the characters of the world that he joined would also not grow stronger.
Plus… he had never really been a fan of fighting… he much rather preferred to
'I guess I am ready then.'
'Yeah… good luck my child. I doubt that I will ever see you again, but it was nice meeting you!
'I have a feeling that we will meet again though, god,' thought to himself.
And then his vision blurred and he disappeared from the white space.
