(Warning the chapter is a bit dark)
From the gaps of the stair railing, Valin can see the whole room including the thief. It seems like there's s no other people in there.
'The house owner is not home huh?' Valin thought as he accidentally he sees the man's face from a mirror reflection located at the left of the thief current position.
He is a bald man with a haggard face. He has black eyes and a claw-like scar in his left cheek. He was around 2 meters tall with a robust body. His face is quite menacing.
Currently, the thief was putting valuables from a cupboard into the bag he is carrying. The man cursed" F*cking house only have some gold. Why the heck we target this place."
While anger course throughout Valin body as he recognizes the claw-like scar in the left checks. 'It's him' Valin thought as he clenched the metal rod.
As anger clouded his judgment, he can only think one thing that is Revenge. Valin in anger stealthily walks toward the thief.
As Valin get closer to the man, it seems like the man feels something coming behind him.
"Hey, why did you.." The man said while moving his head toward his back.
But before he finishes his sentence, Valin hit the man's head with the metal rod.
*Bang.....*
The man then falls to the ground unconscious. As Valin directly on the man face ' It's truly you' Valin thought as he confirmed the man in front of him. His eyes start to redden as he started to bash the thief with the metal rod.
"Die..Die..Die..Die..Die..DIIIIIEEEE...."
Multiple sounds of metal hitting flesh reverberate throughout the room. After some time he stops as the man head has pried open. Blood flowed as if it was a waterfall.
Valin takes a few step backs and then dropped the bloodied rod. He wiped the blood on his face while resisting the urge to puke. He then kneels to the floor and then he starts to cry
"Finally I've avenged you guys." Said Valin while looking at his shaking bloodied hands. With blood smeared to the surrounding, creating an eerie feeling to the surrounding.
Valin then started to feel regret. 'Stupid stupid stupid' he thought while groaning and hitting his head. 'Why do I not ask first the reason for it.'
"F*ckk" Valin cursed. He then stands up, trying to stop his shaking leg with his hands before he tried leaves this place. But before he could, Valin suddenly heard a sound behind him.
He then hurriedly look at his back. "Who?"
"Die!!" screamed the man in front of him
*crack*
A porcelain vase hit hard against Valin head by the person behind him. Sound of pieces of vase hitting the ground can be heard. With ears ringing, Valin falls unconscious before could see who it was.
-------------------------------------------
Valin woke up amidst the sound of burning flames. The smell of smoke, ash, and gasoline spread thickly in the air.
Head pounding and bloodied, ash and smoke filled his lung, ear ringing, and both eyes blurred rang an alarm inside his mind.
Trying to sober up he tried to move his body. But he feels like his body filled with lead.
Panting he tried once again with sheer willpower. This time he managed to move his hands and body yet he can't move his legs.
As his eyes cleared he looks around only to see the thief corpse, fallen debris, and flames burn the surrounding. "I have to get out of here" Valin panicked
Trying to see why his legs unmovable, he raises his head just to see a wardrobe has fallen on top of his leg.
"F*ck " he cursed. Valin then tried to move the wardrobe but he is too weak to move it.
"Sh*t I can't die like this." He then found the bloodied metal rod. He takes it and tries to use it as a leverage to raise the wardrobe.
When he tried, the half meter long metal rod snapped. Trying to find a solution he focused on his surroundings.
He hears people clamoring and shouting from the outside of the house. He wanted to scream, asking for help yet his body is too weak by the constant blood loss and dehydrated by the heat.
'Fate is toying with me huh' he started to remember his life journey up till now. Regret showed in his face yet unwillingness burn in his eyes.
As the flames get hotter and the smoke gets thicker as times goes. Valin solemnly vows in his heart.
'I, Valin vow in my heart with the whole universe as my witness. I vow that if I'm still alive after this, I will live a carefree life, nothing will ever stop me from achieving my goals not even in the face of Gods, demons, or even heavens obstructing me.'
After that debris starts falling toward Valin.
Everything started feels so slow for him as he sees flashbacks of his life.
'Well, it seems like this is it for me huh? Well, I'll forgive you Pandu and also sorry for not paying my debts.' that was Valin last thought in this world as light suddenly starts enveloping him, disappearing him from the world before debris crashed on to him.
-----------------------------------------
Not long after a big explosion comes from the house. pushing back the crowd outside the house that tried to doused the flames
you can hear police sirens outside the house.
One of them who looked like a chief officer screamed in his phone. "Where are the bloody firefighters are?"
" Sorry sir it seems like the nearest ones were trapped in the midst of a traffic jam," said, someone from the other side of the phone presumably it's an operator.
" Where are the other nearest firefighters were?"
" They are quite far from there so the need another 15 minutes to reach the location," said the operator.
"F*ck, order them to come faster! Oh, and please tell me that you manage to capture that pyromaniac" ask the chief.
"No, sir. It seems like the car crash to the bridge railing and falls into the river under. We're currently searching the culprit in the water."
"What, you guys still haven't caught the culprit? What is the use of us police then huh?
If you guys failed in catching him, I'll increase the workload of you all. Get it!" Screamed the chief in anger to the operator.
The chief then proceeds to turn the call off and called other people.
"Hello?" said the man on the other side of the call.
"It's me," said the chief.
"So tell me did you manage to save him?"
"Sorry sir it seems I failed." said the chief fearfully.
"So do you at least manage to catch the culprit?"
" It seems like the culprit fall into the river"
"so you guys will haven't catch the culprit?" the man asked calmly.
"I-i.." the chief stutters as dread filled his heart.
"So what use I sponsored you guys. You're all useless. You guys can't even finish a task I give you." roared the man.
"B-b-but.."
"No buts! If you guys can't even catch the culprit, consider your job forfeit." roared the man in anger. He then closes off the call.
"Sh*t" the chief cursed as worry filled his heart, fearing he will really lose his job.
