Chapter 6: Lost my last screw

I decided to move past my nickname and answer the accusations cast on me,"I was with Ari and obviously I am not trying to teach my son to sit out when there's shit going down."

I got another one of his 'You are stupid' looks. I figured sugarcoating will help so I said, "What I mean to say is I was teaching him what would be the right thing to do in such a situation. Lead by example and all, you know."

"No, I don't. So you are telling me you left him alone to chase a purse snatcher?"

"No. I knocked out the air from the purse snatcher's lungs the moment he was in my range since he was running towards the park exit behind me. But yeah it distracted me for a minute which was enough for them to grab him. I didn't know he was one of the kidnappers, at that time, but I think he would have engaged me regardless to hinder me from stopping the other guy. I think they injected him in their car because he was still screaming for me as I chased them on their way out of the park." I paused for a moment because I could still hear Ari calling for me and it was getting difficult to breathe. His screams weren't actually loud but my imagination didn't remember that. All I could think about was the fear in Ari's eyes when the big guy put a hand on his mouth, effectively stopping his screams.

I felt a cool touch so I lifted my eyes, I saw Miraj was next to me and his left hand was on my right cheek. The face cheek, not the butt one. I really needed to get laid.

"He is okay. You brought him back."

"Huh?" I was lost and didn't understand him for a second. When I did understand though, he had a puzzled expression. He was probably wondering if had finally lost my last screw. He removed his hand from my cheek.

"Yeah, I know he is okay. But my momentary distraction could have resulted in a bigger danger if even one thing had gone wrong."

"So next time, will you let the purse snatcher run away?"

"No." I smiled at him as I continued,"Next time I will punch him right before he snatches the purse. It will save me the screams from frightened mothers."

He chuckled.

"So you chased them by car after that?"

I nodded and said,"The one who grabbed Ari got their car started as I ran towards my car and got in. The driver waited for the one I had punched so I had enough time to get out of the parking and chase them right on their tails. They had parked on the road for easy escape but the dumbass waited for his partner. I think it was because they hadn't drugged Ari yet so he must be struggling. He had to wait for his partner because it was a two man job and he needed the other man. It helped that your father and his men didn't know that I was skilled enough to stop this attempt. They underestimated me."

He nodded once and told me to go on. So I did,"In the city, the traffic was bad so I couldn't get a clear lead but after sometime I figured they were driving towards the old highway road." Here I paused because I didn't want to tell him further. He wouldn't like the reasoning for my next actions and I wasn't in a mood to argue today.
