"Wheew-whee! That is one hell of a coaster ride!"
Durranth jumped out of the portal and landed on the ground. He took a deep breath of the fresh air and let it all out. The air on this place feel so clean, so pure, without a single pollution in it. He could live with this. He was getting tired of breathing through the polluted air of Earth.
"Now, where are we?"
He looked around. It seems that he is inside a forest. Not only that, he could a faint energy on this world, without even thinking for long, he knew what this energy is.
It is 'Mana'.
From all the light novels he used to read on Earth before. Mana is an energy that mage or wizards to perform spells. He don't really remember exactly from what Mana is formed. It probably formed by the whatever this world is. Something akin to an oxygen.
There's not much to see except trees—and lots of trees everywhere. So, Durranth decided to walk around, probably find a civilization if there is one. But, considering he is in a fantasy world, there's supposed to be a civilization, right?
At first, he was excited in finding a civilization that made up entirely of magic instead of science. He was also excited meeting the adventurers of this world if there is one. Maybe, just maybe, if being an adventurer is an interesting job, he probably would take it. As a form of training and to get used to Dante's power.
That's right, he has Dante's power. But it is not 'awakened' yet. He still have the superhuman speed, strength, and reflexes, but his healing factor will be very limited. He didn't know exactly how he'd known all that. It's as if he already have the knowledge about it. Looks like he owe the God one, if the God didn't give him this knowledge, he would probably do something stupid and fight something strong. Sure, Dante is strong, and he has his power, but he need to get himself used to it. After all, he's just a normal human before, not a Cambion like Dante.
He started to get bores after two hours of walking and founding nothing. Sure, he found some strange animals, but it was mostly animal that he found on Earth. If not an addition of small horns on their heads or other things on their bodies. He would be lying if he did not find it funny to see a rabbit with a small deer like horns on it's head.
"Really, God? You summoned me to this place, at least gimme something to shoot! Damn you!"
All of a sudden, a sharp pain emerged on his head. He hissed in pain. Confused with what's happening. Why the hell did his head hurt all of a sudden?
"Damn, is it because I talk shit to God?" He muttered, a smirk appeared on his face, he then looked to the sky and gave whoever watching him up there a middle finger.
"Well screw you too!"
"Aw! Mother—"
Before he could cuss any further, Durranth heard a scream not far from where he stood. From the sound of it, it was a woman, he immediately ran after the source of scream in no time. Passing through dozens of trees in a matter of seconds before he arrived at the scene.
There, he could see a group of people fighting. One of the sides that is fighting right now are comprised of teenager in uniform, probably people from an academy or some sort. On the other side, the people looked like a bunch of militia, some wearing armor while some doesn't. They wielded various weapon from swords, spears, and axes. Some of them even used bows and crossbows.
"What's this? A bandit ambush?" He observed for a little while. Deciding of he should help or not. He have the experience of Dante when he's still not a full-time Demon Hunter. But it will took time before he got used to it. The same with other Dante's abilities.
"No harm in trying."
He dashed out from the line of trees he's hiding in. He then pulled out Ebony and Ivory, it feels really good to hold Dante's iconic weapons in his hand. And now, he would see it first hand how this thing works.
"Let's rock!"
---
Michael are a student of Minerva Academy, an academy where they train mages and warriors alike. Unlike most of the people in Minerva Academy. He doesn't came from a noble family. He came from a family of commoner. Because of that, many student always looked down on him, mostly those who came from the noble families.
But unlike them, he has abilities worth noting. He is proficient with using a sword. Managing to defeat many students in a tournament the academy helds once in a year. But even then, how could he still losing againts these bandits?
He despises them. He despises the bandits. They're people who lives by robbing other people's fortunes. His father died because of them. It was because of that reason he trained hard to enter the Minerva Academy.
But here he was, struggling againts bandits. It looked like he needs more experience. Those who he has faced in the tournament are people who are arrogant, people who doesn't have any experiences in fighting under their belt, unlike this bandits in front of him.
"Am I gonna die here?" He thought. He closed his eyes for a moment before he opened in again. Flames of determination shot out from his eyes. He held his sword more tightly than before. "If I'm going to die, then I'll take them with me!"
But, before he could move, he heard a small thunder erupting behind the bandit groups. The bandit instantly became panicked with the sound of thunder that keeps appearing. Followed by the laughter and cheering of a white-haired man. Holding two strange weapon that resembles a crossbow or some sort.
What is that?
"Wooho!" The man cheered. He jumped from one of the rock and landed in front of a bandit that about to attack a girl holding a cane. A mage in training, Michael thought.
"Now, now, that is not how you treat a lady."
His tone is filled with sarcasm. Despite being surrounded by around twenty bandits. He looked so relaxed, a smug could be seen in his face. Is this man not afraid of death?
Just now, Michael just realized that the man has a big sword strapped to his back. The sword is almost as big as his own body. With its guard carved into a human skull and ribs. A scary looking sword if he had ever seen one.
"Now, let's see how this bad boy in action, yeah?"
He holstered the two strange identical weapon inside his red coat. He then pulled the big sword and rested it on his shoulder. The same smug still apparent on his face. His white hair swaying slightly by the wind.
The bandits then charged at the man. The man jumped to the air when a spear tried to stab him from the back. He landed at the shaft at the spear and kicked the bandit who held the spear in the face. He kicked him hard enough that the bandit flew and crashed through one of the overturned carriages the Academy used to transport their students.
An axe tried to hack him from the side, but he parried the attack so easily before he deliver a strike of his own, severing the man body into two pieces. He proceeded to start his own attack. He slashed, stabbed, and bludgeoned his enemy to death. A barbaric way to fight, in the eyes of the nobles watching, but it get the job done. Who cares about being elegant if you could kill your enemy in almost one hit?
"Come on! You guys are boring!"
Really now? Boring? Facing this many people only counts as nothing to him? He even have the gall to call this dangerous situation boring?
But, Michael had to admit, the situation is clearly dangerous for him, but not for the white-haired man. Proven by the laughter and cheering the man let out while he attacked.
It didn't even last more than five minutes before he killed most of them. Some of the bandit lost an arm or leg or perhaps both, while the lucky one only lose consciousness, probably some internal bleeding. But nothing that could not be healed by healing spell.
"Well, that was disappointing." The white-haired man put his sword behind his back. It was a mystery how he did it without a sheath, probably magic, but isn't it exhausting to use magic just to hold your sword in place? That means you need to do it constantly.
What a weird man.
--
Durranth whistled at the carnage that he has caused. It is pretty amazing. Considering he never spilled a single blood on his life before. But now, he could do it effortlessly, and he didn't even feel bad about it, is it because he's killing the bad guy? Must be.
But now, all the weapons are aimed at him. He put both his hands on his hips and laughed before shaking his head slightly.
"Is this how you people treat the one who have saved you? Well, couldn't be helped, I'm a stranger after all, but really?"
None of the people reacted. That is, until one man—and adult—came and told all the people around Durranth to stand down. Durranth then folded his hands in front his chest. One feet tapping on the ground lightly. Waiting for them to tell him their identity.
"I'm sorry, Mister. The kids are still a little too tense. After all, they've just been through a fight that almost took their life."
"Can't blame 'em."
Some of the noble student whispered at his attitude and the way of him talking. He could hear it clearly. Talking shit to the people that have saved then now, eh? But these kids are lucky he's not a bloodthirsty person, if he is, they probably would lose their lives here.
"Anyway, I thank you for saving us, Mister.."
"Durranth."
"Mister Durranth, you see, we came from the Minerva Academy to train this group of student how to survive on the wilderness. But who would've thought we will ve ambushed by bandits? Luckily, you came at the right time."
Durranth nodded his head and smile. The man, Adam Patterson, then introduced himself as one of the teacher in the Minerva Academy. After a little bit of idle talk, Adam asked why is Durranth is at the forest. Durranth answered that he is lost. Adam could see that Durranth is hiding something, but he didn't pry any further.
"Well then, Durranth, looking that you're fairly young. Are you interested in studying at Minerca Academy?"
Durranth didn't expect that, at all.
Durranth wore the clothes that Dante wear in DMC V, in case you're wondering.
