Chapter 15: Hell Hath No Fury
Making their way through the crowded streets around the Arena Ra was attempting to call Bast as he led Jace and Hannah towards the Islands tailor, Uniforms are custom made so each of them would need to be measured and fitted for them, this was also the reason most of the new recruits had put it off for so long, however Bast had long since extracted a promise from Ra to get fitted for uniforms together, and he had reluctantly agreed.
Right as he was preparing to give up, Ra received a ping on his communicator, this would only happen when Bast was in close proximity, but Bast was usually nearby any way so he rarely paid much attention to it.
"Hey Ra!" Bast appeared at his side and wrapping her arms around his neck planted a wet smooch on his cheek, leaving behind a web of saliva.
Black lines appeared on both Jace and Hannahs face.
"How shameless," they cast a glance at each other before turning away, their faces burning.
"Bast!" Ra was oblivious to everything, He wrapped Bast in a huge hug.
"We're going to get our uniforms, you're not busy right?"
"Nah, I was actually headed that way myself, it's good that you didn't forget."
Lowering her back to the ground he reached for her hand.
Beaming, he said, "Good, then let's go"
Bast stood there with her hands on her hips.
In that moment the previously clear sky suddenly had black clouds in it, her long black hair quivered with crackling energy, she was clearly upset.
"Who told you to put me down?"
unfazed, Ra corrected his mistake, lifting Bast up in his arms again, the dark clouds dispersed and Bast wrapped her legs around his waist laying her head against his neck in contentment.
meanwhile Hannah and Jace were frozen in absolute horror.
"Wha- What the hell!"
"Forget it, forget it, she's too strong, let's just go get our uniforms" Jace sighed shaking his head.
"Who knew Ra was so easily manipulated?"
Jace shot her a strange look before he turned away from her and continued walking in the direction of the tailor.
"Hey Bast?"
"hm?"
"We haven't seen you in a while, Serqet and I, why is that?"
Bast considered that for a while pausing for a long time before saying
"mmm- remember that time when we were kids, we were playing, and then that man from your father's unit came to tell us that the platoon your father was leading had been wiped out?"
"Mhm, Serqet cried and nearly destroyed the house."
"Well, that day made me realize that I had to become a lot stronger if i wanted to protect you"
She leaned away from him cupping his face-
"I can protect you now" she smiled
"I know you can Bast" he said, returning her smile.
she nodded contentedly lowering her head back to his shoulder, and at the last moment turned her head and captured his lips with her own, breathing him in as if he contained all the oxygen she'd ever need, their kiss lasted several minutes as Ra's eyes went from shocked to wide to closed, as he accepted her kiss completely.
