Chapter 3: He's a Good Fit

But she also knows she has to go back to the store soon, so she should leave after finishing this meal… She currently has a pile of things to do, as work has accumulated lately with the sudden change of owners at the store and the period of learning the ropes.

After eating, it is already time to go back to the office. She notices the man is also done eating and getting ready to leave, so she stands up and they head for the exit simultaneously. The man seeing that she was also done eating walks out with her.

"Then, I'm leaving" the man says directly.

"Ah wait. How are your computer skills?" it's just a little delay, no damage done.

He looks back at her, "I have some experience… I studied programming in college"

At the answer Yelba she can't help but be a little surprised, turns out the man she wanted for the front desk is actually also qualified for another position. Not bad.

Seeing that she's mentioned it a few times already, though almost convinced of the answer, he still asks her: "…do you work there?"

"that's right. Then see you later!" Yelba feels there's no need to hide it. If he does apply he'll know anyway, it's not a secret. This way she also has more credibility.

He lightly smiles almost invisibly, not saying anything more. They bid a quick farewell and she heads back to the store.

Yelba can't help but look back at his retreating figure for a moment. It was a short talk, but it is enough to get an impression of the man, a man with a cold temperament and not too many words. Uhm, she doesn't even know his name… how is she going to hire him if he applies…. That was a newbie mistake.

Actually she probably avoided asking half-consciously, if he's qualified he'll be called for an interview without her interference. If he attends the interview, she'll meet him there.

So it is fine…

A few days later, it is now Tuesday.

Yelba is starting to get used to the work, she is effective and quick to learn new things. Especially since her major in college was in fact, management, and she completed it with impressive grades. Just right for this position.

If she went to work somewhere else instead, she definitely wouldn't have been able to skip so many ranks in such a short amount of time. Directly becoming the new boss and owner. Which is also one of the reasons she accepted her work here, if she went elsewhere there'd be no guarantee she'd ever have the chance to reach this position, here, the prospects make her eyes shine!

She's now focusing on improving and stabilizing the core of the store for future growth. As such she's reviewing the projects and businesses the store is involved in. One proposed plan is on hold in her desk. The plan for partnership with Fe Inc.

It seems that great things are to come.

She can't help looking over the proposed plan she's developed, over and over. It is a great opportunity to expand their reach. A deal with a popular new brand, Fe Inc. The plan is well-developed. It includes benefits, cost, approximate time of completion, etc, etc. but for now she'll focus on another significant matter.

The hiring of new employees and new talents ah. The store is a little short on personnel as it has been growing as technology develops and more customers appear.

She needs capable people.

The news that they're looking to hire new people have already been announced and resumes have come in in large quantities. The store is not considered huge, but it is a three-story building, it is considered one of the largest computer stores in the city. It sells products, but most of its business also comes from services provided to computers like repairs, maintenance, programming, etc…

Noticing the time marked by the clock on the wall, Yelba stands up and heads down the stairs to the second-story of the store where the interviews are to be held. As she is about to turn the corner to the meeting place she receives a call. The caller ID: Mom.

"Good afternoon my good mother! Has the day been shinning for you, this good daughter s about to go watch in on some interviews"

"It seems you're doing fine, see didn't I tell you you wouldn't regret it!" he mother answers enthusiastically, Yelba can't see her face but she knows her mom must be grinning from ear to ear.

"Well, so far so good, some employees have asked about you. You should come by after your rushed vacation, so they can hold a farewell party for you. You left so suddenly they continue pouting, haha" though it seems like she's complaining, she's wearing a smirk and is definitely feeling content.

Her mom on the other side of the line left after handing the reins of the store to her daughter. She went on a trip to enjoy a calm and sunny life at the beach. A trip she's been planning for a while already.

"Of course, my daughter, since it's you taking on the store I'll come by sometimes to visit! Take care of the store!" her mom laughs loudly and merrily. Yelba can only listen to the woman who's having a good time while she's working her ass off because of her sudden trip, not even teaching her how to handle the reins after just throwing them at her and fleeing…

The call soon ends after some more small talk. She heads directly to the interview room to overview the interviews.

She sits on one of the chairs next to the side-wall, though she's going to overview the interviews she's not actually going to be asking any questions or participating in the interviews. She just wants to supervise the hiring process and assess her own employees' performance. That's why her seat in just sitting in an inconspicuous corner together with some other empty chairs to the right of the the long table where the three interviewers are sitting. In font of their table are five seats lined up for the interviewees.

As such people are called in groups of 2-5 depending on the position and the applicant's qualifications.

After about one or two hours of interview, there's only a few people left to interview. Which greatly relieves Yelba, who's now feeling hungry, bored, and a little stiff from just sitting around and watching people come and go. But she seeks comfort in the experience and the fact that she can pass on her opinion of the applicants to the people in charge of choosing whom to hire.

The next two interviewees come in.

Though she hadn't remembered at all despite being bored just moments before, as soon as she sees him come in she's reminded of the man. The one she met at the café a few days before.

Standing by the chairs in front of the table, the two people introduce themselves respectively as the interviewers ask them their name, job applying for, and qualifications.

After the other applicant introduces herself, the man's voice flows out smoothly, the air around him cool like the breeze "My name is Walter Lewis, I'm interested in the programming position. I graduated from UT University as a programming major, and have four years of experience working in the field as a programmer in Workshop A"

Seeing the man, Yelba's interest is again piqued.

So he did apply after all.

She grabs his file from the folder in her hands and starts reviewing it on the spot. She is actually a little surprised that the man she coincidentally met at the café is so well qualified for this position, she can't help but smirk. It only helps to improve her opinion of him.

The man doesn't seem to notice her at the side, as he is focused on answering the interviewer's questions.

His answers coherent and significant, looking closely he seems a little tense or nervous, but to Yelba that is good. Means he puts importance in this interview, or he just might not have that much experience attending interviews. Anyway is fine.

"Thank you for your time. We'll contact you with our answers by Tuesday next week." Says one of the interviewers, and also the man who handed the list of applications to Yelba before, Joel.

"Thank you for your time" Walter answers politely as he and the woman beside him make their way out.

After they exit the room, Yelba stands seeing as only a few people are now left to interview.

She looks at the three at the table, "I'm leaving, good work so far" her smile is pleasing to the eye and they thank her back for taking the time to come. She leaves the room in a low-key manner not grabbing any attention from the rest of the people waiting outside the room.

The main entrance section is a little busier than the rest of the store, as it is where people come to buy and ask questions about products or services. Basically, the front desk is placed there nearby the checkout counter

As Yelba is about to go through the door, she notices Walter walking with the girl he just took the interview with. They're standing by the door.
