The next day Betty got the call from the case worker and they went over the house. She told Betty what updates were needed and that she was pleased at were the boys would be living.
Betty then called in a repair man to do the work and got a decorator over to change two of the rooms.
One room was done in a sports theme and the other in Noah's Ark. This took a week to prepare.
On Friday she got a call from her lawyer to meet in family court with the boys.
When she got to the Children's Home she went into Father Joseph office.
"I'm here to pick up the boys for court?" She said.
"I'll send someone to get them please sit." He said then asked one of the staff to get the boys.
"I'm glad things are going well. Looks like they will get a new home. How are things going with Oliver?" He asked.
"I am here to get the boys. Not to give you gossip about your friend so you can tell him and he can run over and yell at me for wanting to help. I did not tell you about us last time for you to run and tell him everything I said."
"I'm sorry I was just trying to help. He really cares for you." Joe stated.
The boys came in dressed in there sunday cloths.
"Do you know why I'm here?" Betty asked.
"We are going to talk to a judge about you being our mother." Trevor said.
"Is that Ok with you?" She asked.
"I told Mrs. Goldman our case work yes when she asked. We both like you very much." Trevor said as Olly reached to Betty to be held.
Father Joseph went with them to court and listened to all the question the judge asked. He knew the boys would be in good hands.
When it was over he road back and help the boys gather there things to move to their new home. "Please bring them to visit once in a while. I'm glad you got to be their mother."
He then called Oliver.
"What's up chicken butt?" Oliver said answering the phone.
"The boys now have a new family. The judge granted the adoption." Joe said.
"I really didn't think they would."
"Time's are different now. I told you that."
"I've got to go, I'll see you later. " Oliver then hung up.
Betty loaded everthing into the car took her new family home.
She showed them around down stairs and them took them upstairs.
"This room is yours Trevor if you don't like it we can change it."
"I like it. It's really cool." He smiled.
"Do you like sports?" She asked.
"I like soccer, but not football. I would like to learn basketball." he said.
"Then we will get you signed up at the youth center. Both my brothers played Basketball. Your Uncle Ben went to school on a basketball scholarship."
"Cool, where is Olly's room?" He asked.
"Right across the hall." The walked in and seen all the Animals and the bed was shaped as an ark.
"Look Olly this is your new room; is it cool?" Trevor asked. Olly wiggled to be put down and ran over to the bed to climb up. He grabbed the stuffed bear and hugged it.
"I think he likes it." Trevor said.
"Who lives in the other rooms?" Trevor asked.
They walk back out into the hall. That room next to you is your Uncle Bert's room. The one next to it is now a guest room. There is the Bath room. Then My room. Last room there another guest room. Lets go see the yard now." Betty gets Olly and they head downstairs.
In the back yard they see a tree fort, a jungle gym and a swing set. Both boys eyes went big. "Can we play on this?"
Betty laughed, "Yes, My brothers and Sisters played on it. The fort was for the boys and over there is a play house we girls used but you can use it now."
Olly walked around looking and then tugged on Betty dress. She bent down ,"What Olly?" He then kissed her check and said, "Mama"
Trevor ran over, "Olly did you talk again?"
Olly smiled he shook his head then pointed at Betty, "Mama like"
"Can we call you Mama now?" Trevor asked.
"If you like, You can call me anything you want. I know I'm not your birth mother but I would love to be you mother now."
"Ok, Mama thank you for everything." Trevor said giving Betty a hug.
Just then Bert comes through the door. "Hey Betty, someone let a couple of rug rats in."
The boys moved closer to Betty. "Don't worry boys this is your Uncle Bert. Bert this is Trevor and this is Olly."
Bert put out his hand, "Nice to finally have more boys in the family. I'm Uncle Bert."
Trevor shook his hand, "Mama says you play Basketball can you teach me?"
"Sure come out front we have a goal set up in the drive way. Go get your ball and will start right now."
Trevor looked at Betty. "You heard him the Ball is in your room." Trevor ran off.
"They call you Mama already?" Bert said.
"Mama" Olly said hugging Betty closer.
They all walked back in as Trevor came racing down the stairs with the ball.
Then Trevor and Bert went out side while Betty and Olly cooked dinner. She was washing some tomatoes when in walked Oliver.
"Who let you in?" Betty asked.
"Bert told me to come in. He is out front with Trevor."
"What do you want Mr. McLaughlin?" Betty asked.
He walked over and ruffled Olly's hair. "I came to say sorry. I let my past fears rule my mind."
"I don't understand?"
"When I was 6 a lady wanted to adopt me she was rich and not married but the courts would not allow it. It broke my heart. I did not want their heart broken too."
"That was 20 years ago times are different now. I just wanted your support in this."
"Is it to late to support you now. I really don't want to lose you or the boys." Oliver said.
"I would like that. Want to stay for dinner?" She asked.
"I'd like that, can I help."
"I've washed everything for the salad can you put it together. There is an apron and there is the knives. "
He then got busy helping.
"Mama, juice" Olly said.
Oliver stop and looked at the child.
"Grape juice?" Betty asked.
Olly shook his head and when he got his cup he said, "tnk mama"
Betty then looked at Oliver and smiled, "My baby can talk."
