Chapter 8: Ling Guan's Masters

"What, you were at Gold Spring City the entire time?"

When Jia Li had gone missing, Lan and Xie Hong Hui had searched for her frantically. For some odd reasons, they couldn't locate her using the mystic artifact they had. Due to Jia Li being born intellectually disabled, her mentality would never mature pass that of a young child's. Though this didn't really bother Lan or Xie Hong Hui, they had bound a mystic artifact to Jia Li using a drop of her blood to ensure that they would always be able to know her location to ensure her safety.

That day when Jia Li went missing Lan and Xie Hong Hui were both out taking care of official businesses. When they came back Jia Li was already gone and when they questioned the servants, none of them knew where she went.

Gold Spring City not only extremely far from the city that the Xie family household was located in but it was also a whole mountain range away.

Lan and Xie Hong Hui shared a worried glance. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem like a simple case where their child got lost while sneaking outside to play.

When dinner was done and finished He Yang went to rest in a guest room while Jia Li was sent back to her room by her parents.

Lan and Xie Hong Hui tucked Jia Li into bed like how they would every night. They both sat by the side of Jia Li's bed, hesitating like they wanted to say something.

Their child had changed a lot ever since coming back. Originally they thought that it was alright that Jia Li will never grow up since then they could continue protecting her for as long as they lived. But now that their child has the ability and desire to be independent, they as parents shouldn't hinder her.

Still, there was a lot of things to discuss. They never told her a lot of things because they had intended for her to live in a sheltered world under their protection forever.

"Ah Li, do you know why you have an unusually strong physique?"

Jia Li naturally had wondered about this many times. Remembering what Ling Guan had said she replied, "Is it a special characteristic of our family's bloodline?"

Lan fiddled with a strand of Xie Hong Hui's hair. "That's partly correct. To be precise, it's attributed to the bloodline on Mama's side. You see....."

Jia Li leans in in anticipation of what she was going to say next.

"Mama's actually a dragon."

There was an awkward moment of silence.

A what now? Jia Li half suspected that her parent was just messing around with her. Dragons and stuff are things told in stories for kids. But then again.....she had seen a lot of impossible things in this world. Is it really too hard to believe that her mother was a dragon at this point?

Giving her mother a good long look, Jia Li decided that she probably wasn't joking around.

Jia Li nodded to indicated that she understood. Being a half-dragon (Her father was a human right?) didn't sound too bad anyway. So far she has seen nothing but the advantages of being one.

"...." Their child was taking this surprisingly well. They had expected this news to you know....cause more impact than just a nonchalant nod. It seems that their daughter has a strong mentality. They felt a little proud at this fact.

"Ahem, so Mama's family didn't exactly approve of me marrying your father. Just remember that if you ever see one of Mama's family member you should run away as fast as possible." After giving it some thoughts she added, "Especially if you see a handsome man with purple hair. Stay away from him."

Reaching into her sleeve she pulled out a necklace with a single golden scale on it. When caught in the candlelight it shone brightly, beautiful enough to rival any jewels.

Lan clasped the necklace onto Jia Li's neck. "This is a piece of my scale. When it starts to glow it means that another dragon is nearby. Although not all dragons are part of Mama's family...well Mama's family is pretty big so better safe than sorry."

As Lan and Xie Hong Hui were about to leave through the door so Jia Li could sleep, Xie Hong Hui turned. After a moment of pause, he said, "Remember to come back home often to visit."

Jia Li went quiet for a second before answering. "Of course."

When her parents had left the room closing the door behind them, Jia Li sat up on the bed pulling her knees close to her chest.

Her parents were.....nice. Jia Li couldn't help but wonder how they would react if they knew that she wasn't actually their daughter. Would they blame her for taking over their daughter's body and lying to them?

Jia Li still don't know just what exactly had caused her to transmigrate to this body and world. Who knows maybe this was only temporary, some sort of mistake that would eventually correct itself.

Jia Li lazily stretched her body before flopping back down onto the bed tightly wrapping the blanket around her body. Winter has already set in and the nights were chilly.

Jia Li closed her eyes long lashes brushing against her cheeks. Since she has this opportunity she should use it to the fullest. She wasn't stupid or kind enough to expose herself by telling the truth naively.

The next morning, He Yang brought Jia Li back to Immortal Range Peak.

It's been a day since Jia Li had last seen Ling Guan. With his qualification, Jia Li was pretty sure that he was accepted. Just who was Ling Guan's master though?

"Master, do you happen to know if anyone took in a disciple by the name of Ling Guan?"

He Yang wasn't sure who his fellow Peak Masters have chosen as their disciples and he was quite curious himself so he sent out a long distance voice message to each of them asking.

{Whose disciple is called Ling Guan?}

Not long after there was a reply.

{Ours.}

"...." Sh*t! Why did his little disciple's companion have to be their disciple?
