Chapter 6: Goodbye Arce
I turned fifteen years old last week, and bought all of the equipment that I'm going to need at the weapons shop like a short sword, dagger, throwing knives, and a hunting bow, and my mom spent everyday of last year trying to convince not to leave, mom would beg.
"please don't leave, with your limited magic you won't survive out there."
while dad was not against me doing what I want he would say.
"just be careful when you leave, there are many dangers outside the of kingdom."
But I already came to terms with the possibilities of facing the dangers when I leave, because that is the only way I will grow and gain combat experience, I then think to myself.
"I need to do something before I leave."
after getting the things I need before I leave, I go to the carriage drop off zone where I promised Rosie that I would wait around for when she returns to the village, her parents told me that she will be staying in the village for a day and is going to head back to the capital, so I want to use this chance to say my last goodbyes, since I already said my goodbyes to neighbors and some other neighborhood friends, after waiting around for a while I take a seat on a nearby bench watching each carriage stop by but with no signs of her riding in them, night time came and the last carriage comes through the village and then stops at the drop off some and then from the back of the carriage, a blue eyed, blonde haired girl comes out gracefully, wearing the magical knights casual clothes, she scans the are and notices me sitting on the bench and then takes a close look at me, gives a warm smile at me and asks.
"Hey are you Collin?"
I'm surprised that a beautiful girl like her knows me, so I respond nervously.
"yeah that's me, do I know you?"
she giggles and says.
"I knew it was you, I used mana detection and you are the only one with such a low amount of mana."
I then breathe a sigh of relief and reply.
"of course it's you Rosie, I should have known."
and before I can say anything else she walks up to me and gives me a hug, I hesitate a little but then I reciprocate her hug with one of my own, and I say.
"you need to tell me everything about the academy."
she replies.
"okay but let me go greet my parents first."
I reply.
"that's fine I'll wait for you here."
she laughs and says.
"you don't need to wait here, come with me."
She hooks her arm to my arm and starts leading me to her parents home, once we arrive at her house she greets her parents and then she leads me into her old room, I look back to notice that both her parents were grinning ear to ear, I think to myself.
"do they think we are going to something? I don't think Rosie holds romantic feelings for me, but I do think she only sees me as a friend."
Well at least that is what I think, and as I'm thinking about that, we end up sitting next to each other on her bed, where there was a few minutes of awkward silence, but she breaks it by saying.
"Collin I have a question for you."
I look at her and see that she is blushing, but I don't understand the reason why, so I nod and say avoiding her gaze.
"sure ask away."
she grabs one of my hands with hers, and then I think myself.
"oh shit, I don't think my heart is ready for this."
I then look at her and see that she is leaning a bit closer to me and whispers in my ear.
"do you like me?"
dumbfounded I chuckle a little and ask her.
"like you as a friend or something more?"
she kisses me on the cheek still blushing and says.
"something more."
I look her straight in her beautiful sparkling blue eyes and I reply.
"yes."
I think to myself.
"holy shit this is actually happening, is this real or am I dreaming?"
I gently caress her cheek and I lean closer to her face and plant a kiss on her soft lips, this was the first time I ever kissed a girl, not even in my old life did I ever get to experience this, we pull back and lean our heads forward, and have our foreheads touching, she sighs in relief and says.
"I'm glad you feel that way too, this was one of the main reason why I came back."
I couldn't help but have a visibly goofy smile, but then reality hit me, I already made up my mind that I would leave and explore the world, she then grabs my hand again and asks.
"would you come to the capital with me?"
surprised by what she said I think to myself.
"come on Collin you already made up your mind don't waver on your decision now."
this decision is not something I made lightly as much as I want to go with her and maybe start a new future, I can't go with her, I then respond regrettably.
"Sorry I can't Rosie."
her smile faded and she asks.
"is something wrong? are you not ready to do something that serious with me?"
I reply.
"no it's not that."
I pause and take a deep breath.
"I just don't have any plans on staying in the kingdom, I've made a choice that I want to explore the world."
even though it's not the main reason why but I figured she doesn't need to know why I want to, she then says.
"I understand I can't make you come with me."
she stops for a moment and then she asks.
"would you like to stay the night with me?"
I've never responded so fast in any of my lives, as I did here.
"yes."
I ended up staying the night with her and not only did I experience my first kiss, I also graduated from being a virgin in the same night, it was an experience that I've never thought was possible for someone like me. The next day I dropped off Rosie back at the carriages where she left back to the capital, soon after carriage disappeared in the distance, I began to leave the village and as I look back at Arce and I say in my mind.
"goodbye Arce."
