We are on the way to the capital on the carriage which is about a two day trip, Me and my dad are sitting next to my friend Rosie and her dad, Rosie pokes my side with her elbow and asks me.
"So how are you feeling Collin?"
I sigh and reply.
"I'm a little nervous."
I say that because me and Rosie spent a lot of our time together training in magic, and that's how I ended up finding out that, I'm not very good when it comes to offensive magic and that Rosie is out of my league when it comes to using it,
mostly because, every time I would try to use magic I would pass out due to mana depletion, and that includes even with the most basic of spells like candlelight, which is a spell that creates a small orb of light that will float on top of your fingertips, and doing this spell is considered a basic and simple due to kids using it with no trouble, except for me because it would cause me to get exhausted quickly and in this world passing out over a simple spell is considered strange because it is normal for people to maintain that spell for half a day at least and not feel any fatigue. Rosie looks straight at me with a smile and says.
"don't worry you will do fine in the test."
I look down at my feet and reply.
"thank you but I don't think I have a chance."
I pause and smile at her and continue.
"but you have a much better chance at getting into it than me, because you have amazing magical powers."
I then think to myself.
"this girl is very strong, I have confidence that she will become a magical knight."
she playfully pushes me and says.
"come one don't doubt yourself you and me will do great and get in the magical academy."
I respond.
"I don't deserve your kindness, if anything I feel lucky that I have a friend who will become a great and powerful magic knight."
she blushes and nervously says.
"what are you saying idiot, Its not like I became your friend because I like you."
she sticks her tongue out and puffs up her cheeks.
I then think to myself.
"I think I heard something similar like this in my previous life, Is Rosie a tsundere?"
I then get a mischievous smile and I tease her by responding playfully.
"oh well it's not I like you either or anything."
I chuckle as her face turns bright red like a tomato, she then sulks for the rest of the trip not saying a word to me, After a long two day ride we finally arrive to the capital city, Grezia, and this is my first time ever coming to the big city, the carriage comes to a sudden stop and we are dropped off on the outside of the city walls, and once we got out of the carriage, I take a moment to look around and see more groups of kids that are around my age range who are coming from all corners of the kingdom, and after waiting for the last group arrived, everyone began to walk as we make our way through the gates, so that the group of guards, check us to make sure that we are not carrying any unauthorized weapons, and as one of the guards begins searching me and my dad, I ask him.
"what kind of weapons are we not allowed to carry in the city?"
the guard says with a serious voice.
"we are making sure that no one is carrying any enchanted weapons with them, because recently there was an incident where someone brought in an enchanted weapon and went on a murder spree, so now no one can bring in enchanted weapons and can only bring it normal weapons by the orders of King Tully."
I reply nervously.
"Is that so, I'm sorry for asking sir."
as he finishes checking us, he says to us.
"you two are clear to pass through."
once me and my dad make it through the gate, I take in the amazing sight that is of the market and the several tall buildings of the city, and as I'm walking alongside my dad, I say out loud with out noticing.
"wow this place looks amazing!"
my dad chuckles and replies excitedly.
"yeah I had that exact same reaction as you when I first came here with my dad."
he pauses and says.
"before we go take your aptitude test, let me take you to a bakery that my dad took me, they have this amazing bread made out something they call chocolate, and it tastes amazing, here come on lets go."
as I follow my dad, I think to myself.
"so they have chocolate in this world, I can't wait to taste it again."
as we make our way through the crowds of people, we finally arrive at the bakery my dad was talking about, I read the hanging sign above the entrance that says Tom's bakery, as I follow my dad inside the store, my sense of smell was instantly attack by the sweet aroma of freshly baked bread, my dad walks up to the front counter and says to the guy.
"may I have two of your chocolate bread please."
The guy in the front counter smiles and responds
"yes that will be one gold coin."
I then think to myself.
"what the hell, isn't one gold coin a bit too much?"
my dad sees me furrowing and says.
"come on don't make that face?"
I reply with concern.
"but isn't a bit too much?"
he replies.
"don't you worry about the price, that's an adults job, for now let us just enjoy these breads together."
I nod as I bite into the bread, and I think to myself.
"it's been so long since I've tasted chocolate."
I then say to my dad genuinely.
"thank you dad, I really appreciate it."
he gets taken a back with what I said and replies.
"you know sometimes you worry me, because there are times where you don't act or talk like a normal child, but even then seeing your reaction after eating the bread reminds me that you really are kid, and that is made it worth buying them."
he pause and then says.
"alright lets finish eating so we can head to the magic academy."
after finishing up our bread we start heading towards the academy.
