Chapter 2: nd Chapter
Lee Yuri's POV
While waiting for my turn, I went to the rest room to do some retouch on my make up. I pulled out my kit and started to apply the lipstick on my lips. Being in this super huge building really makes my nerves wreck so much. Even their restroom is much more elegant-looking than me. It's almost like this company isn't even a company but a 5-star hotel.
As I was doing my thing, two other girls went in. They seem to be here also for the job interview.
"Ya, have you seen the picture of the president of Tech+?"
"Hm! Ofcourse! He is so damn handsome! I actually applied here because of him. Who knows right? I might be able to date him?"
"Omg. We actually have the same reason?"
"Oh my.. May the best woman win"
They continued to talk and I just listened to them. Well, I haven't seen the president's photo yet. But I heard he is actually just the same age as me. As I think about it, I can't help but wonder what I have even achieved. He just got too much luck on his life. I wish he would spare me some :<
"But I heard that he is a bit mean though.. It is even hard to see him personally"
"Well, I don't mind. I like the 'bad guy' concept somehow"
Hearing them more just made me a hundred times nervous. I just decided to quickly finish up and head outside. Great timing though, it was my turn to go in.
I first took a deep breath before entering the room with two other applicants. We all sat on the chairs placed on the middle infront of 3 pannelist. They looked so serious that made my hands sweat.
"Ok We'll start the introduction" said the interviewer.
"From left to right please" said the other and we did as we're told too.
"Annyeonghaseyo, Yoo Jaesuk ibnida"
"Annyeonghaseyo, Kim Sohyun ibnida"
"A-annyeonghaseyo, Lee Yuri ibnida" as soon as they heard me stutter, they all looked at me with thin eyes. I avoided their gaze and just looked straight.
'argh.. a minus for me..' I thought as I tried to get a grip of myself. It hasn't even staryed and yet I already felt like its a game over.
After my introduction, they first thoroughly checked our résumés before starting the QnA.
"Ok.. Mr. Yoo?"
"Yes sir"
"Why do you want this job and to be in this company?"
"Because I believe in your products and I believe in my capabilities for this job"
Wow. Short but precise. I could see the interviewee nod his head. But if I were to be asked that question, I might have answered 'money'.. T_T I dont care which company I go to. I just want money.
"Ms. Kim"
"Yes sir"
"Why have you been unemployed for such a long time?"
"I enrolled myself for advance personality developement course along with some freelance work"
"May you describe your management style?"
"I constantly keep tab on my assigned task with my subordinates and seniors and finish the assigned job before deadlines"
Wah.. that was splendid. Even the pannels smiled..
"Ms. Lee"
I almost jumped out of my seat upon hearing my name. I got too immersed in their answers that I forgot it was already my turn.
"Yes sir..!" I said as I prepared myself for the question. The interviewer was about to speak when suddenly someone else spoke.
"Wait Mr. Jeon. I'll do the questioning"
All of our eyes widened upon hearing the unknown voice that came from the speaker placed at the corner of the ceiling. All of the interviewers just bowed down to the camera and sat silent.
"What is happening..?" I mumbled to myself as I couldn't get the situation.
"Ms. Lee"
I don't know what's going on but I'll just go along >.<
"N-ne..!"
"Do you have a boyfriend?"
As soon as I heard the question. My eyes widened. "N-ne..?!"
"I know you heard the question clearly so don't make me repeat it" his voice was cold. I could feel a sudden chill on my body.
"N..no sir"
"Then have you ever had one?"
His next question reminded me of Minjun. All the memories flashed back in an instant and so the expression on my face changed.
"Ne.."
"Why.. did you break up?"
I couldn't help but clench my hands as I do not want to talk about it.. I do not know why he is asking such personal question..
"W-what does my past relationship have to do with this job?"
"The questions basically test if you are willing to be open. In this job, you might be asked to give out some personal informations. But I guess you are not going to-"
Before he could even continue, I cut him out and gave a lie as an answer.
"He cheated and we had different values. So we decided to end things" he went silent for a moment.
I know it is not good to lie but.. right now.. I am just desperate to get a job..
I could hear his faint sigh before continuing in soeaking.
"...ok.. *ehem*... then.. what if the company has different values? Will you leave too?"
I got flustered by the follow-up question. I immediately realized it was a trick question all along. But anyway, I held on and gave the most logical answer that I can.
"No sir. Since I have already experienced being in that situation, I will walk miles away from the shoe of my ex-partner... A-and I will see whether there will be any solutions to the problem.. or if we could change the situation" I gain back my stance and let out a light sigh of relief.
"That's all. Mr. Jeon, you may now proceed to the next batch"
"Understood" the male pannelist answered as all of them bowed down once again. "You may now leave" he added.
And so we immediately stood up and left the room. After getting out, I held on to my heart.
'it's all fine Yuri.. it's done..' I thought as I try to calm calm down.
"Ms. Lee Yuri right?"
Suddenly, the girl who was with me in the interview awhile ago approached me. I stood straight and looked at her.
"N..ne.."
"You were so cool! If it were me, I wouldn't be able to answer that" she said with full admiration.
"I'm not.. ^^;" I replied.
I know I messed up the whole thing. I kept on stuttering and I also lost my cool. I think I'll have to search again tonight for new job opening..
Yoo Hanjae
"She lied.." I mumbled as I turned off the computer. I looked at my watch and saw that it was already 6:00 in the evening. I decided to call it a day and immediately took my things.
"Mr. Yoo!" Secretary Kim called me out as she knocked my office's door.
"Come in" I replied and then she went in. "What is it?"
"Regarding the job interview, the pannelist chose no one to be accepted"
"And?" I just listened to her as I finally finish packing.
"However, they leave the decision to you for that one applicant"
I just looked at her with my one brow up.
"What do you mean?"
"That girl you interviewed yourself"
"Ah" I said upon remembering. "My decision is obvious though"
"The questions you have asked are one of the trickiest. In the eyes of the pannel, she was able to answer it well enough. However, she wasn't confident judging by her poise and how she stutters most of the time. She also seem to have lost her cool in the middle"
I went straight to the door ready to leave while listening to her explanation. I went in the elevator and she followed me as she continues discussing.
"So that is why, Mr. Jeon and the rest of the pannelists thought it would be best for you to make the decisio--"
I didn't let her finish anymore.
"I told you already. My decision is obvious. You know me Secretary Kim" I said in a cold tone as she went silent. "Don't hire her" I added.
The elivator's door opened and so I stepped out making my way out of the building. She just bowed down in response to my decision.
