Chapter 15: Class Despair's Spar (3)
We stopped the spar for a moment while Miss Lyrien was busy healing my wounds. It seems that I have used up too much mana during my spar with Koutetsu. However, she found it odd that I woke up quite in an instant considering I woke up half an hour after the spar between myself and Koutetsu when any other people should have already been in a deep state of rest. She thought so because she restored my mana using hers but she noticed that only a bit of her mana was used so it was quite abnormal.
I woke up after that and they asked me if I was alright to which I replied I am. However, when they were shooting many questions on how I defeated Koutetsu, I was dazzled because I did not remember defeating him. I did not remember anything after he launched his second attack which rendered me unconscious.
They all looked at me with suspicious, not believing that I haven't remembered anything that happened but they ignored me as Miss Lyrien announces the next two students. In the end, only Noite looked at me as he lent his hand to pick me up as I was still sitting down on the ground and he is showing that usual smile of his which shines ever so brightly.
I looked around to look for Koutetsu but I was informed that he was sent to the infirmary due to terrible conditions of his body.
Then, the fight continued for all the other students of our class but all of them are either defeated by Trent, Noite or Yumi. There wasn't really any spar for me after mine with Kougetsu, perhaps a break time for me though I feel perfectly fine after Miss Lyrien's healing skills.
Then, the heated match between the two of the top students has finally come. It was a spar between Trent and Yumi, who both despises each other. We thought that wasn't really a good idea since both of them might try to kill each other even if this is a mere spar, but we were convinced that Miss Lyrien got this under control.
The both of them went up to the front and we can see that they were showing hatred towards each other just by looking at their eyes. The atmosphere remained silent caused by just these two figures in front of us who were presenting such an ominious aura. We can also that Miss Lyrien was on guard the whole time, crossing her arms, showing just how serious she was.
"Start!" Miss Lyrien finally asked them to start their spar.
In the blink of an eye, both of them moved so quick that we had a trouble of keeping up with their speed. One second, they were clashing right in front of each other - Yumi attacking with her daggers but blocked by Trent because he used a skill which hardens his whole body.
[Metallic Body]
His body changed into metal and Yumi's daggers were not able to pierce Trent's body. However, Yumi has a chance because Trent can only use Metallic Body if he was not moving which means he needs to concentrate mana to his whole body unless he learns how to make his body circulate mana automatically, which is quite difficult to learn.
As so, Trent only used that skill when he is on the defensive side and only attacks when there is a chance. Trent enhanced his speed as well as his strength and these two significantly increases which can be seen when Trent was surpassing Yumi's speed, landing two or three attacks on her. But Yumi was also quite formidable and won't be giving up just because of a few hits.
Being an assassin, she once again used her skill that makes her invisible.
[The Unseen Force]
She fades away and this gave a huge advantage to her as Trent has no idea where she is. In her time of concealment, she did not waste any time in attacking Trent, giving no time for Trent to react to her movement. Using Metallic Body takes a while before it activates so Trent didn't have the time use it enabling Yumi to deal damage to him.
Yumi slashed Trent's back and front, leaving cuts everywhere on his body. Yumi never gave any chance for Trent to use Metallic Body. However, Trent jumped up and used a skill which helped him in detecting Yumi.
[Ground-Splitting Strike]
He aimed his fists towards the ground and falling at a very high speed. Yumi was confused as to why he did this because his attacks won't reach him but his attacks weren't meant to hit Yumi. It was meant to hit the ground. So, as Yumi dodged Trent's attacks, his fists reached the ground. Due to Trent's tremendous strength, the impact was huge, causing the ground to smash and big parts of the Earth came off the ground. Yumi wasn't expecting this, so she doesn't have the time to react, causing her to break out from her invisibility. She fell as she tried to do anything in her time to dodge the oncoming stone bits that shot from the ground due to the impact.
Trent appeared from the dust that starts to disappear after a while, standing still. He looked around to see where Yumi is. And as soon as he found her, he immediately rushed towards her. Yumi was still on the ground as she coughed because of the accumulating dust that flew towards her. She looked forward and noticed the oncoming Trent. She immediately blocked Trent's punch using her daggers but was pushed back because of his strength. She can feel that she is losing her consciousness but she resisted.
Trent began his counter-attack, never giving any chance for Yumi to use her skill and this time, Yumi wasn't able to dodge Trent's attack. But she has something up her sleeve that might help her.
"I hope this will work because I never tried this before," she thought to herself.
[Assassin's Instinct]
[Shadow Strike]
Just as it seems as there was no hope for Yumi, she instinctively dodged Trent's attack and this time, her reflexes wasn't anything like before. She jumped and did a flip backwards. Trent quickly moved to her back as if he was anticipating that, so he attacked again from the back but just like before, Yumi somehow managed to dodge that which seems to be impossible due to their distance and considering Trent's speed.
Then, something incomprehensible happened. Trent saw Yumi right in front of him but somehow, he was attacked from behind. At first, he thought that it was one of us, so he immediately sprinted towards the crowds, looking at them with fury.
"Who the f*ck dares to do that, behind my back?! Come out you coward!" he threatened the person to come out.
However, no one came out. This made him even more furious and caused him to attack us. He raised his right arm and just as he was about to attack the first student, he was attacked again from behind. But then, he still saw Yumi standing there, still. He just stared at her, but then he noticed something. When he punched Yumi, he realized that it was just an image of her, which disappeared after he punched it.
He finally noticed that it was Yumi who was attacking him all along. What Yumi actually did was, she is moving so fast that none of us can see where she is. It is different from her invisibility skill, which conceal her appearance. But now, she can be detected but never attacked because of her immeasurable speed. She was all over the place in seconds, attacking Trent from every direction.
Trent just looked around him as he gets attacked and more cut wounds appeared on his body. He was cornered. He tried using Metallic Body but again, he was disrupted by Yumi's relentless attacks. I looked at Miss Lyrien who was looking quite worried but I knew not what she was thinking about.
Then, Trent made a move that actually worked on Yumi.
[Tiger's Roar]
This made everyone flinch because the roar was so load that we can hear ringing in our ears. Even Yumi stopped moving, covering her ears to prevent herself from hearing the sound any longer. When she stopped moving, we saw that her arms were turning blue-black in color and we were all shocked because we did not know what was happening to her. She took a while before regaining her sense. But this time, she was looking pale and very worried.
"Damn, he was actually able to stop my movement? And on top of that, my sense was disrupted after his roar, can I really do this again?" she thought to herself again.
"You b*tch! This is the end!" Trent exclaimed as he was moving towards Yumi again.
Yumi tried to use her skill again but this time, she coughed up blood when she tried to do so and fell to the ground, as she pressed the side of her heads, groaning because of the intense pain that she was experiencing. And as this happened, Miss Lyrien quickly jumped in and stopped the fight. She looked at Yumi and immediately healed her. Her wounds have healed but the pain in her head remained so Miss Lyrien let her rest at the side of the field, lying down.
This whole time, Noite was watching them but not as attentive as before because he gets often gets distracted by other things such as looking at his hands or doing something that really has no point to it.
As a result of Trent being the only one standing, Miss Lyrien declared it as his victory.
"What?! No!! It wasn't a fair fight! You shouldn't jump in!" he denied as he feels frustrated knowing that if Yumi was at her perfect condition, she could also defeat him so he wouldn't want that to happen and he thinks that he might as well cripple her so she can't improve.
"How could there be anyone stronger than me in this class?!! There's no one that can match up to me! No matter what you do, you guys will not be above me!" he shames the one that he deemed weaker than him but never knew that the upper guys would still be stronger than him.
But then, he denied that because he thinks that his strength will grow overtime which will eventually surpass everyone in this school.
"She was unconscious and you still want to fight her? It is her loss and just accept it that you won just because of sheer luck, or is it because you know that she can defeat you the next time you guys meet, is that it?" Miss Lyrien said with an angry expression on her face.
Miss Lyrien just extended her arms and healed Trent without looking at him anymore.
"I AM BORN STRONG! In this class, there shouldn't be anyone who can defeat me!" he said.
Once again, Miss Lyrien ignored his protests and just kept on focusing on the unconscious Yumi, lying on the ground. She looked at Yumi's arms and then her legs, to which the blue-black color spreads to.
"You shouldn't be so rash. You know that you shouldn't use that skill more than once without mastering it yet right? It enhances your speed, sense and attacks to an immeasurable height but at the same time, it takes a heavy toll on your body. It also uses up too much mana and considering you have used it too much in the previous fight, it is no surprise you ended up like this. But for now, you need to rest," Miss Lyrien told Yumi, who was struggling with the immense pain that she is facing.
At this time, Trent was still saying how he swears that no one else can defeat him. He also had already accepted that he won against Yumi but he said that it was not because of his luck or whatever, but because of his skills. He threatened everyone else to challenge him as he laughed at how weak he thought they were. In all of this, our class was all infuriated by his action again, but no one dared to do anything. Only Noite remained cool and calm even at a situation like that, not affected by Trent's provocation.
Trent noticed Noite's silence and being a cocky student he is, he proceeded to pick on Noite, trying to make him furious.
"Why are you so quiet now, are you pissing your pants? You were trying to show off your strength during your fight just now right? But guess what, I'm not scared of you, even in the slightest! I can fight any of you, and you will still be below me. It's because you guys are just. So, damn, f*cking weak!" Trent provoked as he neared Noite and pointed his finger at Noite's face.
Despite all this, Noite just smile at Trent and ignored him but Noite's nonchalant response had made Trent irritated. Because of that, Trent tried to attack Noite without any reason.
He tried to punch Noite who was right in front of him because of Noite's uncaring reaction. However, his punch didn't reach Noite because Noite blocked the punch by using his palm and then gripped his wrist to disable him from attacking again.
Trent was shocked by this and he looked at Noite, who was still smiling.
"We can continue our fight when Miss Lyrien announces it, which will be right up next. So, just wait a while will you?" Noite asked Trent to stop.
"Tsk, alright then! Let's see if you can still talk after this! I will show that you are just another trash and I will rise to the top!" Trent said as he pulled his hands away from Noite's grip.
Miss Lyrien looked at these two and decided that it will be a battle between them, the newcomer and the number one student in our class. It would seem that the newcomer will lose but we never knew what to expect out of their fight.
