It's been a week since Jack unlocked the new function; having explored it further by materialising all 10 Hoverboards and the Super Sneaker, on a whim he decided on getting one magnet and surprisingly the coin magnets attracted no other metals than gold, how that worked he had no idea.
Luckily he was able to store them into his inventory which he still hadn't seen the limit of.. yet. He also tried modifying his inventory as looking through it, it could only be described as a mess, with elements seemingly placed randomly.
He was able to assort them into sections 'Completed Item' which took the tip slot followed by 'Solid Elements' taking the second, followed by Liquid Elements' and finally 'Gas Element', some form of order was finally achieved. While sorting through his inventory he made a startling discovery, there were new undocumented elements! These were in limited quantities, however due to the expanse of his recycling plant. there was a new one that popped up from time to time. There was one that looked a lot like copper but when he brought any device that had a bit of an electric charge to it, it was immediately repelled to the opposite direction.
Jack couldn't suppress the urge to test out his new tech especially the Hoverboard, the same could be said with Tabo. They somehow roped Michael into this, even though he didn't believe them at first, that is until they showed him the board and his dumbfounded expression had both of his friends tearing up laughing.
"Jack if you had something this amazing why didn't you tell me, its been what, over a month since the incident?" the fact that he only found out now made Michael feel extremely dejected, "bro i meant to tell you but a lot of things happened and i kinda lost track of time, I only managed to tell Tabo as he was there when I was experimenting with the ability, besides you're the second person to know about this. Try keep this a secret for the time being please".
This managed to appease Michael as being the second to know of such a revolutionary ability had he giddy even though he didn't show it. "Don't worry, you don't know this but they used to call me the iron mouth back in my youth", the only response to that was both Tabo and Jack rolling their eyes, ignoring their friends fictional story.
Finding a clearing where they could experiment without getting caught was tricky but they found a secluded cave where only locals have a general idea of in terms of location. When they reached it they were amazed by the view, the clear waters allowing the unrestricted view of the rocks at the bottom of the lake, the sunlight just enough to peer through the end of the lake, stretching at a good 60 meters in length with white sands at the edges.
'This spot is perfect, i think we'll use this to test any future tech, i wonder if we could buy the rights to this land' these were some of the thoughts going through Jacks mind as he appreciated the natural beauty. Having enough of that he decided to brought out the hoverboards, one for each of them.
"Alright bros lets have some fun, and try not to break anything" the anticipation on their face was easy to see as they each tried to mount the board, the first few times they fell over, luckily they had the sands beneath them to cushion their fall. "Man this is harder than it seems" Tabo said after spitting out some sand he manged to get in his mouth, "you can say that again, i can't stay on-board for 2 seconds without falling" a tired sigh escaped from Jack as he tried to figure out how to approach it.
What was surprising though was Michael, he was the first to actually remain on the board for a longer period before finally finding his balance remaining floating, when he managed that he laughed at his friends "you guys are lousy at this, this is why you should have come fishing with me when i invited you, it's not that much different" the pride in his voice was apparent as he boasted. "I don't think you can compare this to being on a boat" Jack said as he watched Michael float "of course its the same, instead of floating on water, i'm floating on air, how hard is it?"
They ignored him as they kept trying to figure it out, this was how they carried on practising until the evening as they finally got proficient enough to accelerate without falling. In between Jack thought to test the Super Sneakers and as he did he almost touched the caves ceiling which was about 20m in height, luckily he landed in the lake, if not he's sure he would have ended up with more than a few broken bones.
While it was fun they had to get back to business, "first things first, we need to secure as much resources as possible" Jack said as they rested on the edge of the lake. "That should be easy, we just need to expand the recycling plant to other cities" Tabo said skipping stones as he continued "there are some serious sewage problems in some cities so we can talk to the government about helping solve it, this will give you an in to those with power."
They all nodded as while it may not seem relevant while dealing with waste, the connections they could potentially make could help get rid of a lot of red tape making future plans easier to accomplish. Michael simply listened on as he wasn't all that involved in the business but a sudden thought came to him "what are the limits of your ability?" they paused as they heard this.
A day later, they could be found at the recycling plant ready to experiment, as they did there were a few surprises along the way, they threw in anything and everything they could get their hands on to see the results from trees to animals. While it may seem cruel, it was a necessary experiment, through this they found out that anything they threw in got recycled including living beings.
This discovery was a wake-up call for them, now they had to redesign the warehouse and fit in better safety measures as with the current setup, anyone could sneak into the Black Pool area, and filing missing reports was not good for business.
As the week went by, due to the success of his recycling plant now named Apex Recycling and the abundant resources he could sell, they started buying warehouses in other major cities. Restructuring and installing new safety features that will ensure as limited access to the pools as possible.
Barbados is a popular tourist destination, as a result they receive a lot of foreign visitors who come to enjoy the tropical weather, exotic food and the culture. One of these visitors was an Indian investor and business owner Arjun Sao, looking like he was in his early 50's with the same skin tone as most Indians, his hair balding more than the average amount for someone his age. A bit chubby and had a permanent frown on his face making it difficult to tell what mood he's in.
He owned a couple of business back in India, mostly focused on manufacturing machine parts and other anonymous items for foreign businesses.
He frequently visited the country for its beautiful beaches and to get away from the city. The heavily contested capital and the amount of trash that littered the city is one of the worst in the world, if not the worst. The constant stream of people and the work life doesn't help as people are only concerned about caring for their families and earning money, over the years the trash has piled up that it occasionally effects day to day life.
While Bridgetown my not be the cleanest city in the world it's had its fair share of trash, however while Arjun was on his regular visit to the city he noticed a severe lack of trash on the roads. "Excuse me I can't help but notice how clean the city seems, how do you do it?" He asked a woman who seemed like a local, she smiled and replied "it's because of the new recycling place that opened up over a month ago. They pay people to bring in any rubbish and it doesn't matter what kind, my son even managed to buy a nice bike from the money he made there" she couldn't help but smile while talking about it "it's really helped us around here as people are able to earn more, God bless those men"
"Do you know who they are? I'd really like to meet them" as he said this he couldn't help but think ' why would someone do this, it doesn't seem like a good way to conduct business as. While recycling helps you can't make a lot of money from it, but looking around it seems like it's working if they've actually survived this long.' A sharp glint appeared in his eyes 'maybe I could steal their process and take it back home', while those thoughts were going through his mind the woman was giving him directions to where the recycling plants is as it was fairly known to the local's.
He thanked the woman and made plans to visit the plant later that day, while walking he looked at the city as the cleaner streets gave it a charm that was missing previously, 'if only I can do this to New Deli'.
Im still building things up so be patient for the juicy bits.
