Chapter 18: Showing up uninvited

Andrew arrived back in America after spending the new year's festivities in China. He was curious about what the Inhumans in the Afterlife were doing so he asked Pixel about it but he said they had vanished.

Since he now had the crystals he went to see Skye/Daisy Johnson. Pixel had some trouble locating her, not enough to delay much but enough to actually compliment her skills.

He donned his costume and silently opened the door of her van. He noticed she wasn't there at the moment so he decided to play a prank on her. He became invisible and waited for her to come back.

She took around ten minutes to come back, holding a large cup of coffee. She sat down and sipped it.

"Hello, Skye." He said. She turned around alert and when she recognized who it, was she spurted the coffee she was sipping, wetting Chimera. "That backfired splendidly." He chuckled wiping the coffee off him.

"Y-you are... Chimera... tell me! You have to tell me!!" Skye demanded as she skipped some words.

"Calm down calm down... what do you mean 'tell you'?" He asked.

"Your website why of course! It is the most talked thing in the hacker's community! Do you know that there is a ten million dollar prize for anyone who can hack your website? How did you do it!?" Skye talked rapidly and excitedly.

"Ten million? *Whistles* That's a lot but you know I can't tell you that; I gotta say though. You are pretty chill for someone who lives in an unlocked van parked in a dark alley."

"..." Her previous sullen face got even worse. "...I'm working on it you know..." She whispered.

"Anyway... You are part of the Rising Tide are you not?"

"...R-rising Tide? What's that?" She asked lying through her teeth.

"I'm gonna give you a chance Skye. A big one. Are you ready for it or are you going to keep lying to me?" Skye's thoughts ran a mile a minute and Chimera's stare only made it harder to think.

"Can I at least know what it is...?" She asked.

"I'm afraid not. Once you choose to accept this offer I'm making, there will be no going back. Of course, you could always say no and never find out all the secrets you hold." Andrew told her the outcomes of the decisions.

"..." The 21 years old Skye contemplated the life-changing decision in her mind.

"..."

"I... a-accept." She finally responded. She thought that if there was even a sliver of a chance to find who she really was, this was it.

"Alright. Listen up then. There is a spy organization that works for the World Council. They defend the planet from anything that might threaten it, extraterrestrial or otherwise, while working from the shadows. Their name is SHIELD. And you are going to join it." Chimera finished as Skye hanged there with her mouth open.

"...Did you just say.... extraterrestrials? And what do you mean I'm going to join it!? ...Can I still say no?" She tried to worm her way out slowly moving closer to the door but Chimera grabbed her sleeve.

"I said there was no going back, didn't I? I don't care what you do in there. Stay behind a desk or be a field agent, it doesn't matter. It's not like you are going to encounter aliens that often." He told her.

"Aliens! You just said ALIENS!!" She retorted back.

"I don't see the big deal. You yourself are part alien." He revealed.

"What...? I'M... AN ALIEN!?" She yelled.

"Centuries ago there was an alien race who needed warriors to fight in their war, the Kree. So they went to various planets and modified the DNA of different races. They experimented on ancient humans and left before knowing that their experiments had succeeded. They did come back and wiped out them out, unsuccessfully, before leaving once again. You, Skye, are an Inhuman." He told her.

"..."

"I'm be going now. I'll come back tomorrow to pick you up. Don't forget to pack your things and say your goodbyes." He said stepping out of her van.

Somewhere else

"Sign the contract." A mysterious figure said.

A young man in his teens cut his finger and let some blood drip down, completing the offer made to him.

"It is done." The figure said disappearing into smoke.

"Do you think you could get rid of me that easily? DADDY IS COMING BACK B*TCHES!!! HAHAHAHAHA..." The young man laughed maniacally.

*

Chimera knocked on the door and Skye opened it up. She had packed what little she had and looked ready to travel.

"Good, you're ready. Drive to this location." He said giving her a paper with an address.

On the way, Skye asked a lot of questions about her 'race' and etc. Andrew told her almost everything, only leaving out some things.

They reached their destination, an abandoned house outside New York City where Andrew explained the process of Terrigenesis to Skye. He gave her the crystal and she hesitated to break it.

"It's going to be fine. Just break it." Chimera said standing far away from her.

"It doesn't help that you are standing so far away like a cat scared of water!!" She yelled before throwing the crystal to the ground. It cracked and released a mist. Skye was soon encased in a stone-like cacoon as she tried to play it cool but was clearly distressed.

Her whole figure was encased for a few dozen seconds before it started to crack and all the stone pieces exploded outwards along with a small earthquake.

Skye dropped down to the floor panting and still using her powers. Seeing that she would hurt herself, Chimera quickly sent a [Water shot], knocking her out. This continued for two weeks as Skye learned to control her powers and Chimera knocking her out every time she lost control or was about to hurt herself.

One day before finishing her training Andrew sent a message to SHIELD saying Chimera wanted to talk to the director.

"It's happening tomorrow. Are you ready?"

"Uhmmm... no, not really?"

"You will be fine Skye." He said patting her head. "Just be careful not to use your vibrations inside your body. I'm sure SHIELD could also come up with a device to help you." He assured. Andrew liked Skye. Or should he say he liked the future her, Daisy Johnson. He would be lying if he said that he wasn't interested in her in a more... intense manner, but he liked the person she would become. He wanted to meet the badass, kickass, inhuman, agent of SHIELD, not this younger and awkward person she is now.

The next day

Andrew donned his costume and waited for the call from SHIELD. The call soon came and Pixel answered it.

"Agent Coulson..." Chimera blurted out, surprising Coulson.

"...Yes," He suspiciously eyed the man on the other side of the screen, "I'm afraid the director is busy at the moment. I am here in his stead." Coulson gave his trademark smile.

"Yes, I'm sure he is." Chimera said sarcastically. "Since he is 'soooo' busy I'll just find him myself." Chimera said as Pixel disconnected the call.

"Pixel, find the director for me will you," Andrew asked, taking off the costume.

"Yes, Sir." Pixel took some time to find the discreet director. He was coming back from another unsuccessful meeting with Stark.

Andrew put on his costume again and followed the black government type SUV. He deactivated his invisibility and dropped down in front of the car with his wings fully extended out, creating an intimidating, scary yet majestic feeling.

The SUV screeched as it came to a halt abruptly. Two agents got out of the car and pointed their weapons at him.

"Freez-" They were going to say before getting knocked out. The place became quiet for a moment before the SUV's door opened up, like it was inviting Chimera in.

After waiting for a couple of seconds and no one coming out, confirming that it was indeed for him. He made his way inside and found a seated, calm Nicholas J. Fury, the director of SHIELD.

"Fury."

"Chimera."

"Here, I got you a present to cheer you up since Stark has been denying joining the initiative." Chimera tossed a plastic bag to Fury. He opened it up and discovered a squared, warm object encased in aluminum foil. He took a glanced at the man seated before him, verifying that it was not dangerous by a slight nod. Opening it up he discovered a diagonally... cut... toast, much to his displeasure.

Fury put the toast aside and stared at Chimera. He was able to keep a cool face but inwardly all kinds of warning bells were ringing. This guy's knowledge, motives, technology, origins were shrouded in mystery.

"So what is it that you want with SHIELD, Mr. Chimera?" Fury started the conversation with an extra step of caution.

"Honestly? I want to meet Blackwidow." Chimera jokingly whispered.

"And?" Fury scuffed.

"I want to trade. I believe I have something of value that might interest you." Fury slightly raised an eyebrow.

"And what would you get in return? SHIELD could surely find whatever you are hiding with time. What is your angle?" Fury asked.

"I only want two things. Well, one really; the other is more like a recommendation. The first is about Project Pegasus." Fury's first thought about that was that his organization had a leak. But the toast thing was too personal, too unknown for just anyone to know.

"What do you know about Project Pegasus?" He slowly asked.

"I know you are experimenting with the Tesseract." Fury clicked his tongue ever so silently. " I have in my possession a weapon powered by Tesseract energy that may help you forward your project." Chimera said.

"Hmm... continue..." Fury said as gears turned in his head.

"The second thing is about GH. I'm sure you have started Project T.A.H.I.T.I. and are just starting to notice the side effects. You wouldn't want that in your precious Avengers would you?"

"What is it exactly that you are offering here?" Fury said frustrated. He was always the one in control. Having the upper hand in the conversation is what a good spy was entitled to but now he knew what it felt like to be on the other side of things.

"I'll give you the 'cure' for the madness. You could always deny the first one but what will you do if someone gets seriously hurt or dies and by resurrecting them you make them crazy? I wouldn't want to be in your shoes." Chimera said. He could hear all the arriving cars screech on the road and heavily armed agents getting ready to rescue Fury.

"What is the situation Director!? Do we have the OK to extract you!?" An agent yelled via the radio.

"..." Fury stared at the man in front of him, thinking.

"Director!?" The agent asked again.

"..." Fury seemed to make a decision as he took the radio. "Stand down." He said resolutely.

"What was that, director?" The agent asked for confirmation.

"Do I need to repeat my self, agent? Stand down!" Fury said with a commanding tone as he turned off the radio.

"...Since I bet you are not doing this out of the kindness of your heart, let's hear what you want." Fury continued the conversation.

"I want two simple things, really. One is for you to recruit someone to SHIELD. She is talented in more ways than you know and would be a great addition to SHIELD. The second thing I want is to meet your... pet." Chimera finished laying out his request.

"I don't have any pet-" Fury was about to say to the man who knew way too much about his personal life and his job but was interrupeted.

"Now now Fury. I know about a loooooot of things and I know about your special alien pet." Chimera said pointing at Fury's scar. "Such a mysterious and badass scar given by a mere cat."

"A flerken actually." Fury stated too exhausted to try and hide the fact.

"Indeed." Chimera nodded.

"What do you want with Goose?" Fury asked protectively.

"I just want to touch it, I swear. Let's say tomorrow night. Deal?" Chimera held out his and for a handshake.

"Just one thing. What is your objective? Your goal?" Fury asked. His job was to defend Earth from all kinds of danger, Chimera included.

"You don't have to worry Fury." Chimera said as he shook Fury's hand, "I'm just on an adventure." He said getting out of the car and disappearing.

If you have any unanswered questions, do ask. I can't promise to answer them all as some may reveal spoilers but I'll try my best.

I swear the hardest part about writing for me is figuring out what to write after a character speaks.
